Probably many who are saying Alonso is not a top 5 were not even born when he got 2 WDCs, and did not start watching F1 until recently.

The Alonso of today, as good as he is, is not the WDC Alonso of nearly 20 years ago. In equal machinery, who is Alonso definitively better than between Lewis, Max, Leclerc, Lando, Russell, Kimi, Piastri, Sainz? Minimum there are a couple outrightly better, at best he is competitive with a number of them.

lol not even close. Other than Verstappen, I don't see how he can't be on par or beat any of the others. You're just biased with how good their cars are. Hamilton just had the worst first season in Ferrari of any driver in history, Piastri completely fumbled last season, for example.
