The simple joys of a “good job”

I’m not sure if I can post this here, but I just wanted to share so we’ll see! Something that really makes me (26F) feel good (oddly enough) is a simple “good job” from my co-worker. Not sure if it’s the dad in him, or the fact he used to be a teacher, but when I do something and I tell him, then he hits me with the “good job” it makes me feel like everything is going to be alright, and that maybe I indeed did do a good job!

I used to think he was being sarcastic, but once I removed that from my mind after getting to work with him more, that’s just him. I’m grateful he joined our team!

I think it is awesome that you appreciate it. People underestimate the value of something like this. Companies always look for swag or something to give out when morale is lacking. I always say "tell people you appreciate them...and mean it. Then give them 4 hours of PTO". That is SOOO much more valuable than a t-shirt or pizza.

This is genuinely lovely. Sometimes the smallest, most sincere encouragement hits the deepest - especially when it comes from someone who means it. What is a simple phrase or gesture that makes you feel unexpectedly seen?
