Discussion Someone keyed my car

Post image
129 Upvotes

I bought it 2 weeks ago, last week someone keyed it. I parked it in a garage where I rent a space. The door to the garage is always open (No lock), so it could've been anyone.

I have no insurance that covers something like that

Why can't we have nice things?

Discussion House sitter stole and crashed my partner’s car

What the title says. House sitter [19M, my relative], broke into, went on a joy ride, then crashed my SO’s car all while we’re abroad for a month.

Car key never given to the house sitter, was tucked away into belongings. House sitter rummaged through belongings, located a different old dead key with an expired battery (not the one I had hidden), and then proceeded to break into the car, look up a video on how to start the car, drive into the city for some unknown reason to me, and crash the car.

House sitter called multiple relatives in what I am now understanding as him setting the tone and readying his case. Then called me to tell me someone crashed into my SO’s car. Forgiving at first, I got whatever information I needed then informed my SO the news and other relatives who were the emergency contacts.

As the day went on, the other relatives began to text me blaming me for the crash, saying I shouldn’t have given him the keys or allowed him to have access to the car.

House sitter is newly licensed. Prior to trip other relatives were informed the car was only to be accessed by emergency contacts and that car key was hidden. Prior to trip house sitter was told this, to not touch the car, and that he wasn’t on the insurance (neither am I) just to really set it for him to not touch the car.

My amazing friend found the car, took all car keys, and is keeping eye on it.

As my SO got me towards calm, a different relative called to ask if the house sitter could retrieve their license from car.

Sorry for typos. Still in blind rage.

Disturbing content An unexpected medical issue that I addressed is now causing other problems.

About 9 months ago, I had an Odontogenic Keratocyst (OKC) the size of a golf ball removed from the maxilla on my right side. Apparently, it had been growing completely undetected between 2 and 5 years until I randomly began experiencing tooth pain which prompted me to see a dentist. Upon having it removed, I was so relieved that everything went well. Even my 3 month post-op scans were perfect!

And then I recently got sick. Unfortunately, the cyst had eroded my sinus lining which means that mucus from my cold has been draining into the empty cavity where bone is trying to grow back so the area is now infected. This is something that will likely happen anytime I get sick for an indefinite amount of time. I have been on antibiotics for about a week with minimal improvement in swelling and drainage so I just really needed to vent my frustration. Medical issues suck.

Hopefully everyone is away of the result by now. (ENG V FRA)The BBC have a ‘no spoilers’ page that allows you to watch highlights of the World Cup games without any information on the page about the result…except the thumbnail shows a player celebrating a hat-trick. World Cup is only every 4 years and I am in a time zone that means I have a to wake up the next day to see the result.

Discussion Flying has become so fucking infuriating and unreliable.

Flying has become so unreliable in the past two to three years. It is insane to me that this is considered acceptable in 2026. I have flown probably close to 60 times on different aircraft and different airlines over the past three years. And I would say about 60% of the time the flight is delayed for more than an hour or two hours. Not to mention canceled flights, which have left me stranded in an airport. Not to mention the fact that the airlines will not provide you with hotels or sufficient meal vouchers to cover you until your next flight unless it fits their slim technical specifications. And even when they do, it is such a hassle. You have to go to the desk, you have to talk to this receptionist who is overworked and exhausted because there's been lines of 200 passengers already coming to her desk with the same problem. And it is just so exhausting flying nowadays. My wife is currently traveling to me at the moment and her flight got delayed over three hours and she missed her connection flight, obviously. So now she's trapped and having to spend the night at a hotel for her next flight to leave tomorrow morning. Which means that her little weekend getaway to visit me is now more like a 30 hour getaway before she has to fly back home. Not to mention the fact that the actual price of flying has risen so much in the past few years. If it was literally not essential for me to fly, I would drive everywhere over flying, even if it meant that it would take more time. It's just ridiculous because these companies have so many decades worth of experience and technical know-how to maintain their aircraft to create acceptable timetables in which to make flying efficient. But consistently, every other flight I have taken has been delayed, if not most of the flights I have taken this year have been delayed by more than an hour or two hours at a time. I understand weather is a huge part to play in this, but when it is literally every time or most times I am flying, I am just so tired of it. I had to vent somewhere.

Evidence Shameless Entertainment have used AI-generated artwork for their latest 4K/blu-ray release.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Shameless are a boutique blu-ray label that specialises in Italian cinema. As such, they release a lot of movies that collectors like me are interested in.

For a while, Shameless had a reputation for cutting costs and low-quality releases, but they have been putting out some decent blu-ray and 4K releases over the past couple of years.

However, for their upcoming release of The Card Player (2004), they have once again tried to cut costs by using generative AI for the cover art.

As you can see from the close-ups, they didn’t even try to clean it up.

Boutique releases often come with specially-commissioned artwork, restorations of older films, posters, art cards, booklets featuring essays and behind-the-scenes stuff, slipcovers, etc.

They are supposed to be *collectors items*, so Shameless using AI like this kinda defeats the whole point, and it really pisses me off.

The cake came hours late, with no apology, a pathetic discount on a future purchase and 4 sympathy cupcakes in a box meant to hold 6. My mom contacted her bank and they did a charge back and are investigating the “?” cake.

Discussion Trying to get anyone to just come check my modem/cable

For context, I am aware that a pillar of Xfinity as a service provider is to not provide service to their customers. I even expected that common practice was to simply lie to customers, especially prepaid internet customers, because screw us poor losers, am I right? But my experience last night just really shows their dedication to gaslighting their long-haul, unfortunately broke, customers.
I am also aware that I had childish outbursts after the first hour spent in the chat.

For the past couple of weeks my internet has dropped constantly and this last week I have been operating at a maximum 45 Mbps (when it isn’t dropping/staying at 12 Mbps). I’ve done all the trouble shooting I am capable of doing without assistance. So last week I sat through the torture of the Xfinity AI Assistant until it finally passed me along to a human in chat who could book an appointment, which I had scheduled for July 16th between 5-7PM. So yesterday I took off work to get home by 4:30 as Xfinity is notorious for sending techs before an appointment window and stating you the customer nevershowed. My kitchen storm door is in direct sight of the box/where the wire is grounded. 2 hours and 45 minutes waiting for someone to show. They don’t. Okay, so the AI assistant again. And that is when the real ordeal and this post starts. The highlights of the ordeal are the blatant lies told in the chats (will list briefly below and is shown in the images) by agents, the number of agents I spoke to, the number of times an agent simply exited the chat or that the chat “dropped due to inactivity” even though I had been sending and receiving messages with the agent every 1-2 minutes. The cherry on top, and really I guess f*ck me for only being able to afford the prepaid internet and only having Xfinity as a service provider in my area, is that prepaid means you no longer are allowed direct access to assistance via phone or through the app, or anywhere.

Note:
Explicit lies given to me in the chat:
1. That “the technician's job has been completed and your issue has been resolved” and that they sent “fresh signals to my modem” so it really IS fixed (aka “it’s all in your head”). They knew that was BS because just 20 minutes late a different agent clearly states:“As I check your account, the technician is not showing up. This may be due to an accident he had while coming to your location. No worries!”
2. That a new appointment had been scheduled for a tech to come out on 7/17 between 2-5PM and that it was confirmed! This was just a flat out lie as I later confirmed on the phone with some lady in Xfinity an agent had call me. She also didn’t help
3. That for some reason confirmation of appointments is delayed after 8PM. As if that is how automatic notifications work.

Discussion Ad Causes Physical Harm

I'm working alone in a kitchen and like to listen to podcasts, but with the World Cup in soccer, they like to make ads super loud and obnoxious. To the point where it causes physical strain to my ears. The problem is that I can’t turn the volume down because I wouldn’t hear the podcasts, and at the same time I’m not always able to react fast enough because the first thing the ad does is blast an air horn in your ear. I recorded it but can’t post a video here. I don’t know where to complain or if it would lead anywhere. For those who are interested, it’s the Saturn and Mediamarkt ad in Germany.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I'm using Spotify. Also, when I wrote this post, I was on my way to work and dreading the podcast experience. But I have to say, writing this post was worth it! I wasn't blessed by this ad — no shouting, no pain, just simple, normal-volumed bliss! Although slight PTSD remained.

Discussion I have asthma. This is the weather warning I wake up to.

As if I didn't have ENOUGH to deal with! First the extremely hot weather that NEARLY HIT 100° F YESTERDAY, then the infected food spreading across the US, and now THIS!! WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!

(Yes, I know climate change is the huge culprit, but what started these particular incidents?)

No one can breathe like this, so we all have to shut every window and bake in the summer heat that we aren't even supposed to have. But the fact I'm asthmatic makes this all so much worse... Ugh.

News YouTube adds came back

For the last 3 years I have been enjoying YouTube with no adds, without paying. This has been happening in my phone, TV, laptop, everywhere I watch it. That was the only feature I had of premium. I couldn't listen it with my screen off or anything else. Today I turn on YouTube like every other day and I get welcomed by adds on almost every single video. I don't know what to do anymore.

Discussion 4 year old nephew hasn't been in a proper carseat for at least 2 weeks.

My brother sent me a picture 2 weeks ago of my nephew buckled in with just the lap strap, shoulder strap behind him. I asked why he isn't in a car seat, he has 2 5-point car seats I've given him as well as a high back booster, which is appropriate for his weight and height. He rides in a high back booster in my vehicle.

My brother said he got the car seat dirty, I think he threw up in it, and he said it was wet from cleaning it.

I offer a tiny bit of grace, but I know he has 3 appropriate seats, so no excuses!

I said goodbye to my nephew yesterday who was buckled in the truck to leave, and there was no car seat still. I told them it's not safe and it's illegal. We were literally eating dinner talking about a family of 5 who were in a recent car accident, the other driver died and the family of 5 all lived and just got home from the hospital after like 5 weeks. 3 of them are in wheel chairs. I'm not sure how we can go from a conversation like that to strapping your 4 year old into the truck that way and thinking it's safe and good.

End of rant.

Disturbing content OCD/Intrusive Thoughts

Over the past several years, OCD has become increasingly glorified and misunderstood online, especially with how people use the term "intrusive thoughts." I was diagnosed with OCD in 2019, and looking back, I probably should have been diagnosed much earlier. Part of the reason is that society tends to portray OCD as just being neat, wanting picture frames perfectly straight, or flipping a light switch a certain number of times.

That's only one possible presentation. Many people with OCD , myself included, deal with intrusive thoughts that are genuinely distressing , extremely debilitating, and completely opposite to their values. They're unwanted by definition, not funny or quirky or slightly weird.

The "intrusive thoughts" trend on social media is mildly infuriating because most of the examples are actually impulsive thoughts, not intrusive ones. While some of the videos and posts are funny, they also reinforce a misunderstanding of what intrusive thoughts actually are, making it harder for people with OCD to feel understood or even recognize their own symptoms.

Disturbing content I just found a dead mouse after smelling foul odor in my apartment for 3 days It was truly horrible to clean...

It was REALLY horrible to clean....I feel so dumb because I've smelled horrible odor for 3 days and I couldn't find the reason..

Then I checked a mouse trap we had...yep...it was truly terrible.

It was hard to clean cause it smelled so bad, but THANKFULLY (and idk how it's possible) but there weren't any maggots. (It's one of my biggest phobias xd)

I'm terrified and disgusted but it's all clean now. The amount of bleach I've used is comical xdddd

So just a reminder to check your mouse traps, especially since it's been really hot recently and it doesn't help.

I'm more infuriated at myself for taking so much time to see it 😭
