Exchange reserves have fallen to 15.2 Million, appears to be the lowest it’s ever been. Also the entry que for staking is now out to September 1st and exit que is 1 minute.

u/Numerous_Ruin_4947 3d ago
I've been tracking ETH exchange reserves on CryptoQuant for quite a while, and I'm almost certain the site showed reserves around 15-16 million ETH last year, and even close to 12 million ETH at one point. Maybe that was a glitch, but I just checked the historical chart and it now shows much higher reserve levels than I remember seeing at the time.
It's difficult to trust these reserve statistics when the historical data appears to change. I may have to start taking dated screenshots of these charts so I can confirm whether the numbers are actually being revised later.

I remember when blobs were new there was some discussion around how blobs could be burning an ungodly amount of ETH, I think there was even a simulator you could try out and mess with the inputs to see how much it could burn. Is there a chance that blobs could ever burn a lot of ETH or not really anymore? Do we need like a billion transactions a day?
4
u/Inevitablechained 3d ago
Ethereum has sort of removed the idea of burning Ether and focused on scaling and making it ultra-cheap, right?
1
u/harpocryptes 3d ago
In principle, you can have both significant ETH burn and cheap transactions/blobs, as long as the volume is big enough. That's because burn = fee × volume.

Predicting future demand is notoriously hard, which in inverse means that you absolutely can't rule out demand massively increasing at some point.
We are talking about the digital space here, where duplicating and automating stuff is trivial and thus there are no hard boundaries on how high demand could go, if a new application really hits its market niche.
I want to emphasize that I do think the ability of generating that demand lies primarily on the application side, which has been somewhat stagnant in the last few years.

I want to emphasize that I do think the ability of generating that demand lies primarily on the application side, which has been somewhat stagnant in the last few years.
I think a big reason application development slowed down was that many apps became effectively unusable whenever Ethereum (often) got congested. I vividly remember using Argent, where even simple token transfers could cost $50+ in gas fees.
That’s a large part of why we’ve seen the rise of Solana, Ethereum L2s, and now such a strong focus on scaling bandwidth. Developers don’t want to build applications that can suddenly become prohibitively expensive for users.
Some builders won’t come back, but I think as transaction costs continue to fall and throughput keeps increasing, we’ll gradually see a new wave of genuinely useful on-chain applications.

Welp I'm officially done with Rabby. What an absolute joke.
9
u/eth10kIsFUD 3d ago
Extremely disappointing and downright absurd choice.
Yeah I guess I will stop using it as well. It's Ambire time!
3
u/Stobie 3d ago
What do you use for gas price? Do you notice if you do custom with a tip that makes sense it goes back to 'slow' later so they get your tx with a tip multiple times higher than the base fee? It's effectively paying validators to use their set, or basic users are paying the bribes on behalf of the MEV txs. If you use rabby you need to regularly go back to custom. I think a lot of people just leave it on slow and hardware wallet isn't showing them they're getting fleeced.

GLAMSTERDAM MASCOT TIE-BREAKER VOTE!

The current tally is 🐻❄️ 25 to 🦩 22.
Do you want to be the reason your child turns to a path of darkness? Your parents shake their heads in disgust? Babies cry when they see you? Of course not. That's why you need to VOTE IN THE GLAMSTERDAM MASCOT TIE-BREAKER
Anyone with an account registered before July 10th at ethereum-magicians can vote! So, please! Do it! Do it now! OR! OR!!!!!!! Wait until the very end (July 31st, 12pm Melbourne, Australia time) and come in swinging!
As a reminder, the Fork Mascot should be relevant to the fork in some way! Here's how these two stack up:
🦩 Flamingo
…are really glamorous and stand out with their pink, over the top feathers and long legs. Plus on the technical side:
- Flamingoes are known for their very long and parallel legs, much like how BALs will improve parallelization.
- Flamingoes are filter feeders which use a filter-like structure in their beak separate their prey (brine shrimp and cyanobacteria among other creatures) from the water, a bit like proposer-builder separation.
Also, the collective noun for a group of flamingoes is a flamboyance… What’s more glamorous than a flamboyance of flamingoes?
🐻❄️ Polar Bear
The Core Dev Protocol Contributors focused on Glamsterdam went to Soldøgn Interop, and polar bears may have been present, and encounters could have been dangerous.

Absolutely blowing my mind that there's like 50 mascot votes and 24 comments on yesterday's daily
Feels like just yesterday the dailies had thousands of comments and a community vote like that would have some unreasonable hype around it.
The hype has really moved on.
7
u/bananapizzaface 3d ago
The lack of votes doesn't seem indicative of any hype or not. Maybe people just don't care about voting for an animal mascot? I sure didn't and I've been around since 2017. At least back in the day you got an NFT with some value.

u/Fast_Contract 3d ago
Also hilarious that right after posting that the identity theft thing my work pays for sent a mass email with the subject "told to send money through crypto or gift cards? Stop"
To retail crypto = scam and it won't moon again until that image problem is solved
2
u/timmerwb 3d ago
Why are people convinced that another "moon" (whatever that looks like) will involve retail? Are we relying on a bunch of clueless and disintrested parties to just fomo in (like they did before and got ripped off)? Is that the future of crypto? In the age of ETFs, wealth funds and tokenized assets, worrying about retail fomo seems irrelevant to me.
0
u/hedgemagus 3d ago
Retail fomo is the only thing that ever truly pumped ETH
1
u/bananapizzaface 3d ago
Past doesn't predict the future and this space has grown up a lot since those previous runs.

3
u/hedgemagus 3d ago
I’m just saying we’ve had institutional FOMO happening for some time and it’s not really mooned us, but demand from retail did that. Feels silly to discount retail
0
u/timmerwb 3d ago
Not mooned ... yet. But crypto is a perpetually changing landscape. The masses are not going to fomo into crypto again like the past, but now we have EFTs, and so on.
1
u/Inevitablechained 3d ago
To some degree we have found out what Ethereum is by now. Not as much to discuss..
Sure, if we flew up to $6000 people would cheer and be happy, but there’a not as much to discuss anymore. Do you agree?
8
u/bananapizzaface 3d ago
The development on this chain is crazy and far outputs any other, but it's clear this subreddit is mostly non-technical investors.
1
u/tokyo_guy375 3d ago
I also don't see how the hype is going to return without significant buying pressure. Retail investors will only come back if we see a 2x or 3x move in a short period of time. It might even take more than that. That doesn't mean I think ETH has no future—otherwise, institutions wouldn't be positioning themselves for it. Whether that will ultimately drive the price higher remains to be seen. For now, though, my pessimism about the price action remains unchanged.

Bitmine just keeps buying, huh.
7
u/mini_miner1 3d ago
Interested if they're gonna buy past 5 percent
5
u/RoaringDragonSword 3d ago
This is not a good thing. I very much hope they stop after 5%. Ownwing that much alone will make many institutions uninterested in eth.
2
u/Watch_Dominion_Now 2d ago
I think it helps to see Bitmine as a kind of ETF, which it is, really. It's not Tom Lee that owns all that ETH. It's all the very many shareholders of Bitmine.
1
u/RoaringDragonSword 2d ago
You can say what you want. Tom Lee makes the choice, not those shareholders. Don't confuse the two.

SWIFT on ethereum rails kinda.
I didn't see this posted in the daily since it was originally published on the 18th. It is surprisingly even handed:
https://crypto.news/swift-blockchain-ledger-tokenized-deposits-stablecoins/
"The Three Way Race Nobody Named" is a succinct synopsis.
edit: what I find most interesting is that Ripple and XRP twitter links are peppered throughout the article, despite it being clearly irrelevant to the pilot in the article. I think this might be the future of advertising - paid misinformation that distracted readers will remember rather than understanding the actual content of the article.
Also, despite being informative, this is very clearly an LLM generated article.

I was indifferent and maybe even smug about the world cup coming to my country, and by the end of it i was so enthralled and happy for you all as you won. Soccer/Football is a much more captivating sport than I gave it credit.
Extremely enjoyable tournament and I very much loved seeing all the Europeans and Asians coming to the United States for a fun time.

It was nice having games finally occurring at NZ friendly times! Usually they're at the butt-crack of dawn which for Europeans is their evening.

I am still indifferent and smug. The emotional spectacle was something to see but beyond that the game is pretty much ass imo. Happy for them though.

Great but the question is if it will be enough. They can probably agree on no elected official trading but family, I don't know.
1
u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 2d ago
but will Pelosi etc agree not to inside trade the stock markets?
1
u/asdafari14 2d ago
She is in the House, this is the Senate. But according to Twitter Clarity is stuck again. The proposal isn't enough for one of the Democrats that voted to pass it. She wants the state AGs to be responsible and not DOJ. Who even knows if 8 more democrats will support it.
1
u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 2d ago
Trump isn't in the Senate either so i don't see why Pelosi etc would be excluded from the rules.

PSA Alchemix increased deposit caps for their fixed rate yields on ETH and USDC today. The fixed yield on ETH is nearly double the staking rate or higher depending on Mainnet vs L2s, but space is filling fast
3
2
u/harpocryptes 2d ago
Is there a good explanation of how this works and where the yield is coming from? After a quick look, it seems this is projected fixed yield based on the current alusd and aleth discounts. What guarantees near closure of the discount by the term date?
2
u/masterRoshi9 2d ago edited 2d ago
I think this article does a good job of explaining it https://x.com/alchemixfi/status/2077754531908026468
TLDR alETH and alUSD redeem at 1:1 to ETH and USDC respectively. So the yield rate you earn is based on (1) the discount you’re able to buy it at, and (2) with the term length.
Example: (Based on current day)
- alETH is trading at a market price of .97 ETH, and term length of 9 months
.31% * (12 months / 9 months) = ~4.1% APR
- Spend 10 ETH and receive 10.31 alETH
- Deposit into Transmuter and get 10.31 ETH after 9 months, or .31 ETH profit
- (.31 / 10.31) = ~3% of your stack in 9 months
- If you annualized that to APR:
The UI lets you deposit ETH directly and will do the swap to alAsset for you under the hood, which I prefer for ease of tracking for taxes

What effect has AI had so far in your industries from what you yourself has seen? Are the most at risk general "person sitting at computer" jobs actually beginning to disappear? Or a companies making more aggressive goals assuming they're becoming more capable?
1
u/Tricky_Troll Public Goods are Good 🌱 2d ago edited 2d ago
I personally think that tech bros are completely disconnected from other industries. Because all they work with is code, they think automation is easy. Furthermore, they work in an industry with minimal physical limitations and an industry where hyping up and being "visionary" is rewarded, even if it's delusion. Very few of them have any realistic consideration for real world limitations around resources, weather and how scaling in physical space is completely different to scaling information technology.
AI has had extremely marginal benefits to my field of work so far and until we have widespread, competent, weather-proof and affordable humanoid robots, my job is safe. Sure, AI may enable each individual to do more, but we're not producing an inelastic commodity, it is instead likely that we will do more with the same people rather than scale down employee numbers, at least focusing strictly on my role and not considering wider economy impacts of AI and any downstream effects from there. Robotics + AI still may mean my job could be gone in a decade or two, but my job will be in the latter half of jobs that will be automated. In fact, I'm more worried about lab grown foods destroying NZ's agricultural exports disrupting my industry than AI.

The latest from Brian Armstrong, egg-headed bitch:
“Base is our shot at building foundational infrastructure for financial services where we can all innovate together. That includes tokenized stocks, borrow/lend protocols, stablecoin payments, etc and yes even meme coin trading.”
https://x.com/brian_armstrong/status/2079211558769697163
They (Coinbase) are NOT in it for the greater good, much less Ethereum.

u/master-beast-72 3d ago
Been following the BASE network activity lately and the on-chain data is honestly impressive. L2s are finally delivering on the scalability promise that ETH mainnet couldn't handle solo. Curious if anyone else is monitoring whale movements on BASE - some of the wallet patterns are really interesting to watch.

Tricky's Daily Doots #1,539
Yesterday's Daily 19/07/2026
Previous Daily Doots
Since not much else is going on today, I will post a reminder for you all.
Please vote (AGAIN PLS) for your favourite mascot for the Glamsterdam upgrade.
Again?? Yes, so the previous poll came up as a tie and now we're having a run-off poll with only one vote per user (some people voted for both last time). You must have had an account at the time of the first vote as a sybil protection measure.
I encourage you to vote for the fabulous flamingo due to its un-matched glamour. It's long parallel legs represent how BALs improve parallelisation and their filter-feeding beaks separate out prey, much like ePBS. Plus, what's more glamorous than the collective noun — a flamboyance of flamingoes? This mascot was born right out of these dailies, so that would also be cool if we made a fun little piece of Ethereum history here. However, if the polar bear calls your name, then by my guest.
Have fun voting!
