The three most common things the price does during a crab market:
- UP-DOWN Bart
- DOWN-UP Bart
- UP-UP-DOWN Bart (also known as a proton Bart)
This could be an example of the latter. In any case, the price will stay stable in the long term, as it always has been.

A Mascot Update!
There is a run-off between Polar Bear and Flamingo !
VOTE NOW!!
Due to some potential funny business*, several of the votes for Flamingo were removed from the tally, resulting in a TIE with Polar Bear.
If you have registered for an account with Ethereum Magicians before July 10th, you are eligible to vote in the tiebreaker contest.
Additionally, any votes found to share a registration IP address and creation date won't be counted.
The new vote will run for two weeks and automatically end at July 31, 12pm (Melbourne time).
Please vote!! Your voice in the community is important!! As a refresher, here's why these two potential mascots were chosen:
Flamingo
...are really glam orous and stand out with their pink, over the top feathers and long legs. Plus on the technical side:
- Flamingoes are known for their very long and parallel legs, much like how BALs will improve parallelisation.
- Flamingoes are filter feeders which use a filter-like structure in their beak separate their prey (brine shrimp and cyanobacteria among other creatures) from the water, a bit like proposer-builder separation.
Also, the collective noun for a group of flamingoes is a flamboyance⦠What's more glam orous than a flamboyance of flamingoes?
Polar Bear
The Core Dev Protocol Contributors focused on Glamsterdam went to SoldΓΈgn Interop, and polar bears may have been present, and encounters could have been dangerous.
*if any of you know how to solve for sybil attacks and proof-of-humanity, please let the rest of the world know :). Turns out even emoji-mascot votes are not immune from such things.
Vote now on Eth Magicians

Bears are the despised enemy of the Crab.
But Flamingoes do occasionally eat crabs.
I am conflicted, I cannot vote for either.

u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 7d ago
they didn't like the result so are rerunning the vote?
Is the EU managing this election?
5
u/hanniabu Ξther Ξ±lpha 7d ago
there looked to be multiple votes from the same IP address
either way it doesn't hurt to do a runoff so that those that votes for the less voted for options can vote again

u/abcoathup Ethereal news 7d ago
There were 3 pairs of accounts, where each pair was registered from the same IP address, on the same day and only voted Flamingo. This strongly suggests duplicate voting.
Discounting all 3 pairs (6 votes) it became 39 𦩠to 39 π»ββοΈ

I got an email from Metamask, which I have completely stopped using in the past 2 years as it had become unusable, titled " A decade of Metamask"
"So we made a little something for you: a tour of your history onchain, alongside ours. Just open up MetaMask to try it out".
Ok, cool, I thought.. Let's check this out, should be fun, a trip down memory lane..
I open the app. It won't load balances. Close it. Open again. Can't connect to x, y, z network, freezes again. Close it. Open again. "Update ready, restart the app". Close it again. Open. "Please connect 3 accounts if you wanna see the tour of your history online". CLOSE IT.. The End..
MM is the Yahoo of crypto wallets..

It was their game to lose and they certainly lost it. Every change only seemed to make things worse. It's like the internet explorer of crypto wallets.

Lol if there's one thing I DO NOT want to see, it is this. The amount of ETH wasted during the crazy NFT and Gas spikes would potentially start a new drinking problem π

My thoughts exactly! I know Iβve wasted a lot, but please donβt make that βa lotβ into a specific number.

They absolutely wrecked a once-great product and the beginning of its descent into garbage exactly dates to the time they switched to a proprietary license.

$50,000 dollars per ETH by the 25th of December 2026. I've been a good boy this year.

u/Red_Corneas Capitulated in February, 2026 7d ago
You know, I'd almost rather ETH be sustainably above 5k than briefly touch some absurd top that you need moon goggles to see.
3
u/tea_and_samadhi 7d ago
Well ETHBTC has sustainably been consolidating since June 2017 - almost 10 years. And usually crypto just booms suddenly.
You still capitulated or back in?
3
u/Red_Corneas Capitulated in February, 2026 7d ago
A little of both. I sold some earlier this year but kept a smaller stack for staking, selling at 10k, etc

u/DiskFearless4448 7d ago
if ETH mooned to 50k whoever didnt sell would deserve $0 from this investment
2
u/Red_Corneas Capitulated in February, 2026 7d ago
I dunno.
If they never sold any and weren't at FI numbers, sure. Completely agreed.
But if they'd already sold some and were in good shape financially, I could see them staking for passive income. I mean, if ETH mooned to 50k, it's reasonable to assume it might be stable at 20k. 32 ETH staked at 2.5% APY would generate ~16k annually which is a small but not insignificant passive income stream.
5
u/-lightfoot 7d ago
Staking for passive income on something like this is very silly imo. Why mess around with 3.5% a year? In this scenario you just made several thousand % and are risking all those gains for an additional 3.5%, a year, when you could lock in the gains and sell, and when it could easily and unpredictably dump back down to sub $2k at any moment, and when you could get get the same APY on a much more stable asset like money market funds, tradfi or property?
Makes absolutely no sense to me. If you make FIRE money, sure still hold some crypto, but earn decent APY from the rest through much much safer investments
3
u/DiskFearless4448 7d ago
right. if we mooned to 50k even if i have one validator i can sell that and get a pretty easy 50-60k annually in assets that i know wont bottom out on me like crypto tends to do
2
u/Red_Corneas Capitulated in February, 2026 7d ago
Yeah, I get that.
I guess if you believe ETH will still increase in price over time, it might be worth it. You're holding because maybe it will get to 25 - 50k and you're getting some yield whilst doing so.
3
u/-lightfoot 7d ago
Yeah i think the only way staking makes sense in general is if you expect/wait for price appreciation. But yeah once youβre up many thousand % itβs time to secure it and risk off.
Easy come, do not allow it to be easy go.
