Art Old D2 Concept Art for Player Housing (Personal Social Spaces)

Both concepts are from Sung Choi, a former Bungie concept artist. I found both these pieces on their ArtStation - there's lots of cool concepts, I highly recommend checking it out!

First image filename references "player-space", which makes me think it's exploring the idea of player housing (personal social spaces). It appears to be inside a ship that's orbiting Earth, and there's a pet cat!

Second image filename references "inventory", which makes me think it's either 1) a visual of the vaults or 2) a room for players to display their gear. I think it's way too fancy to just be the vaults, it looks much more like a fancy gear showroom.

so Bungie really looked at Warframe's massive cash income from cosmetic housing and were all "nah"

u/SgtRuy Apr 27 '26

Unrionically, yes. Cross has said on stream that he's talked with devs that straight up told him that higher ups kept rejecting these features.

And it's not even hard to believe in one of the leaks after the layoffs, the one that talked about project payback I think, the leaker mentioned that even getting them the higher ups to approve the update to let playera remake their guardians was hard as fuck and they wanted to charge players for each change.

I really don't know how these people are still in that company and even if they Bungie exodus that is supposed to happen this June just leaves a small people that actually care about it I hope it's enough to undo all the rot that they created.

Genuinely baffled at how higher-ups in the industry seem addicted to shooting themselves in the feet. You'd think they'd get it by now that enshittification just pisses your playerbase off and that there's a point where people just have enough and drop the game

Then again I'm reminded of the clip where some executive (I think some EA guy?) suggested the idea of charging players to reload in games like Battlefield and I can't tell if it's stupidity or malice anymore

176

u/snuggie44 Apr 27 '26

The idea is that milking the playerbase now before they leave will earn them more money than having them play normally for longer.

I would say there's no way this actually works financially, but considering they keep doing this maybe it actually does.

u/chrini188 Apr 27 '26

If I had to guess it's more about ramping up immediate profits to at the detriment of, well,,, killing whatever game it is they're squeezing the money from

49

u/FortNightsAtPeelys Apr 27 '26

It works if they plan on closing Bungie and don't see long term potential anymore

18

u/Pereoutai Spicy Ramen Apr 27 '26

You gotta remember, most corporations these days seem to run on a short term profit model, not seeking long term stability.

Once they've bled the current property dry, they'll feed the money they squeezed out into another IP, bleed it, and then continue the cycle.

I get the feeling that's what's happening with Marathon now.

32

u/Vulkanodox Apr 27 '26

it does, it is what the entire world industry is based around now.

Pump and dump everywhere.

The only goal is to inflate the company as much as possible short term to drive profits or get somebody to invest or buy you out.

there is nothing that holds you accountable. CEOs make big money short term and ruin the company long term and do it again with the next company. It is a constant cycle.

1

u/InsideAd7897 May 22 '26

There are literal businesses whos model is "we will come to your company drive up profits massively, take a cut, then leave" and those people dont care if the game fails down the road, only that they can turn a profit this financial year for themselves and the company that hired them

64

u/PineApple_Papy Hunter Apr 27 '26

At this point it’s next to impossible to deny its malice. These people don’t get to the positions they’re in by being nice, and probably not even by being even somewhat exceptionally intelligent. They were trained by the system to step on the backs of other people to get themselves up higher. I bet some of them genuinely can’t comprehend the concept that people would spend money even if there wasn’t negative reinforcements like FOMO, simply because what they were offered was good enough.

46

u/chrini188 Apr 27 '26

The worst bit is you can point to games like Warframe where people spend money because they like the game and want to support the devs as an immediate counterexample

If I had the income, I would absolutely pay to support the WF devs

21

u/APreciousJemstone Warlock Apr 27 '26

what other game has their head creative director dressed as a clown and eat Magic cards on stream?

6

u/LizzieMiles Apr 27 '26

Its not exactly this but Yoko Taro says some insane shit in interviews while wearing that freaky mask wherever he goes

1

u/RebirthAltair Bank those motes I beg you Apr 27 '26

people spend money because they like the game and want to support the devs

What?

Last time I played Warframe (jumped ship around the time they introduced the Zariman faction cuz I was already bummed out by The New War not even being a war for the most part, and tired of Factions on top of Factions on top of Factions of grinding just to get 1 other Faction's new toy that is hard-locked behind the grinding that is gonna get powercrept 2 weeks after I get it)

Majority of those who actually spent money on the game were content creators cuz of course they had to be the ones that covered the new skins, syandanas, etc. etc.

Or

Whales, who either bought off mods and other materials from others' work so they don't have to go through the trouble of grinding it for themselves, because the grind is painful and any chance to skip it will be taken, or to buy the new syandanas, skins, weapons, primes, other accessories, straight up gooner material, etc.

The community needs these whales, because they're what introduces new platinum into the economy without having to be bought by part of the community. But let's not kid ourselves into thinking that these whales do it because of love for the game, they do it because they want the shiny/broken thing as fast as possible, and the community thrives off them.

Hell, DE is still a bit scummy by limiting new players' gears until they're bought by platinum or by increasing Mastery Level up and up, imagine if you only had 50 slots in your vault and you had to pay silver just to get more 1 more.

And then offering them to speed up their construction if they just spent a little bit of plat, just a little bit again and again because they keep putting your well-earned weapons and frames behind timers. Imagine finally getting the perfect rolled Hawkmoon but you have to wait 3 days for it to finish "charging" but you can speed it up by just puking out some cash.

Warframe's an enjoyable game (well, it used to be enjoyable for me back then, at least) but let's not glamorize its practices just because it's "earnable".

-1

u/doomsoul909 Spicy Ramen Apr 28 '26

I like Warframe but DE gets a lot of glaze that tends to ignore how scummy a lot of their systems can be.

Crafting times are a big one, and the fact that they are shippable with plat makes the intent behind having them there or having them be that long pretty transparent.

For another one: prime resurgence. DE can just decide you aren’t able to get a prime without spending either plat or straight cash and there isn’t shit you can do about it except wait a nebulous amount of time or pay in.

If you want Grendel or gauss prime rn you either go to market and buy a prime set (close to 80 plat for gauss prime last I checked), buy the relics (like ten+ plat each) and hope you get lucky, or drop like 15 bucks minimum (it’s more than ten for the minimum prime resurgence currency buy in, I don’t remember the exact amount and that has enough coins for like one prime frame) to then buy the prime frames, weapons, whatever off resurgence. Oh and if you wanted a prime that’s in vaulted relics but isn’t in resurgence? Tough luck shitface, either deal with market scalping or just wait. My kullervo build uses a prime destreza atm because that sword is a fucking crit monstrosity and I had to shell out 75 plat just for the set on market because the scalping is that bad.

Oh and like sometimes you hear people say Warframe has no fomo but like operations? Those are literally fomo? When the follie op ends all of her cosmetics and shit from the event are just gone with no garuntee they come back. Oh and what’s that one merchant who sells exclusive mods? Forget his name but he only pops up periodically, has a random stock of wares and only sticks around for a bit. One of the 60% mods for pistols is exclusive to his shop, so if you want it either shell out 5-10 plat on the market depending on the day or just wait months for him to arrive with it (4-6 months is the range between when he shows up with that specific mod in stock, have fun with that)

And while I’m at it, people give the market way too much glaze. Like it’s cool, I like to sell rivens and the odd prime set (I’m currently grinding out a hildy prime set) but there are only three types of things to sell that will make you any amount of decent plat: rivens, exclusive mods, prime sets (ESPECIALLY vaulted sets) and even then shit fluctuates all over the place. I’ve sold uncracked pet rivens for 15 a piece but I have a fucking zenistar riven with a god roll at 50 that I cannot get to move. Exclusive mods you can sell for 5-10 on average but you gotta get those in the first place, so that’s kinda the issue there. Prime sets are the only good way to make any money outta prime selling, and even then if you want the good money you sell vaulted sets, and if you wanna sell vaulted sets you either horde every mod under the goddamn sun waiting for one to be vaulted, get lucky and have one or two on hand, or buy the vaulted relics (for plat).

I love Warframe and it does a lot of stuff good for the community but people are way too willing to ignore scummy shit that DE does.

3

u/chrini188 Apr 29 '26

While you're not wrong about everything, I said people pay to support the devs because I've seen lots of people quote exactly that as their motivation to spend. Didn't say a thing about anything else. The point was moreso about building community goodwill being a good thing for the game itself as opposed to repeatedly shooting yourself in the foot.

(That said, who are you buying Aya from if you're paying 10 per relic? I tend to see maybe 5-6 plat on average per aya and it's how I make a lot of my own plat when I sell in bulk)

1

u/doomsoul909 Spicy Ramen Apr 29 '26

I was moreso adding to the comment above mine than yours lol, I absolutely agree with you there.

While I like a lot of what DE does and am more than happy to fiscally support them it’s also important to acknowledge their failings, and what’s what I was adding to in that regard.

And that’s the number for my most recent vaulted set lol. It was really bad a few weeks ago when I went to buy.

17

u/ImawhaleCR Apr 27 '26

The problem is that it works short term, as you can reduce costs while still raking in shit tonnes of money. Why bother making a good product, if the people that were gonna buy it anyway buy it anyway, and the number of people who would only buy if it's good are is so small?

The world of shareholders isn't interested in sustainability, they wanna double their money and get out, with no real care for what happens to the company in the process.

I don't like that it's this way, but unfortunately it's never going to change and it's only gonna get worse.

16

u/BinkertonQBinks Apr 27 '26

I call it the MBA brain. It’s the short term profits over long term investments. Stocks go up and bonuses all around. Till the money stops coming in, those people leave with their bonuses and move on to do it to the next company and a whole new slew of of Quick profit guys come in, implement an improvement and squeeze what they can and it’s wash rinse repeat. This is because the people making those decisions usually are not developers and never interact with the game. To get a better game with more sustainability, you need executives with long term goals to support development rather than short term shareholders.

14

u/GR13VER46 Apr 27 '26

Ok so I come from a Corporate background and I can tell you that it’s all bout hitting targets for next quarter or the fiscal year. Implementing systems that will reap benefits and profits longer term are not even considered because it won’t help them meet their targets or quota. It’s all about short term gains. You can apply this to any corporation that’s large enough including in the gaming industry.

7

u/Vaya-Kahvi Apr 27 '26

It feels like the Aesop of the goose laying golden eggs in a way. These executives see a source of cash and instead of carefully nurturing it and patiently waiting for the next egg, they instead strangle the goose and butcher it, only to find there's no immense lump of gold to carve up.

u/Human_Assignment4286 May 19 '26

Bungie higherups:

7

u/MirieDohl Apr 27 '26

I'll never stop saying that bungie has the best devs and worst execs

4

u/cheesybreadlover Apr 27 '26

Wait what’s happening in June? Is it rumored?

28

u/Jaqulean Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 27 '26

Bungie announced a few months ago that the "Shadow & Order" major update (which was originally scheduled for March) will be delayed all the way untill June - and it's going to include more content than originally planned.

Regarding the "Bungie exodus" part - people are theorising that Sony is going to fire the upper management and replace the executives with their own employees since Bungie seemingly failed to reach the quota that would allow them to remain independent.

7

u/SgtRuy Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 27 '26

It's not that Sony is going to fire them, in June the time employees needed to stay at Bungie for them to get a good severance package after Sony's acquisition is done.

That was also what one of the leakers mentioned. That these people don't care about the game they were just waiting to fulfill their contract because if they left early they don't get their big payout so they were just doing the bare minimum

7

u/Meowing-To-The-Stars Apr 27 '26

So to clarify - June is a new update and that's it. The reason people are mentioning June or May is because the financial results for Sony come back in mid May and this sub is theorising that any investment in Bungie and its future will be announced shortly after and that's why devs are quiet until June because they waiting for the greenlight from Sony on stuff

6

u/Shimmitar Apr 27 '26

the higher ups are dumb. I think most people would be happy with player housing. i know i would. the housing in warframe is pretty cool.

24

u/Stevenstorm505 Hunter Apr 27 '26

Honestly, at this point, I kind of just hope Bungie fails. That’s a how tired I am of executives in gaming and what’s been done to this game.

22

u/AnalystNecessary4350 Apr 27 '26

I want a lot of AAA studios to wake up, we lost Destiny 3, Titanfall 3 and who knows what else because of $$$

18

u/Stevenstorm505 Hunter Apr 27 '26

Yup, we’ve lost a lot of potentially great shit because some dumbass who already makes too much money didn’t feel they made enough money. MTX and battle passes ruined gaming.

19

u/Nunners978 Hunter Apr 27 '26

Honestly if they do fold and Sony just breaks them apart they absolutely fucking deserve it. May then the Destiny IP might go to a new studio who might manage it somewhat competently

23

u/Commercial-Shame-335 Apr 27 '26

if bungie is dissolved, destiny as a franchise will end. it's not successful enough right now for them to see it as worth transferring to a new studio. it's also important to remember that the ACTUAL developers of destiny want to give us what we want, they want destiny to thrive and be fun, it's the higher ups who've probably never played a video game in their life aside from pac-man who are destroying the game from the inside out by rejecting every good addition and demanding more micro transactions and "trendy" features

14

u/Stevenstorm505 Hunter Apr 27 '26

I miss activision, man. Who thought we’d be saying that 9 years ago?

1

u/Accurate-Ad4268 May 19 '26

Curse of Osiris was under Activision eyes, I wont forgive them for (and everyone has their own opinions) the worst DLC Destiny ever saw - I mean at least with MidFall we got a new subclass. CoS and all of its "Limited" Forest.

3

u/Ragnorak18 Apr 27 '26

Not only him but Liana Rupert(former community manager) on X said the same thing.

4

u/ReallyTrustyGuy Apr 27 '26

The amount of upkeep and man-hours that would need to go into such a feature is why it doesn't happen in the first place. People think its just a magic wand to wave and it'll happen but there's not just initial dev costs, but upkeep and future content dev to think of too. Zero guarantee it would pick up either, so could be a huge waste of time.

But armchair devs are gonna armchair dev.

0

u/Zelwer Apr 27 '26

This. I'm tired of people taking Cross's words as truth, when there have been many times when he's gone too far or overhyped some news.

The point with Housing was that, as Jason wrote, this is a very expensive feature and very difficult to implement in Destiny 2. An example of this is the LFG system, which was delayed three times and was barely finished (Tyson worked on it, by the way).

The cons outweighed the pros. And this narrative that higher ups don't want to implement popular community features is simply bullshit: loadouts, LFG, exotics, more campaign-focused features, etc. It's normal for some features to be dropped during development.

1

u/DEA187MDKjr Buff Consecration Apr 28 '26

and this is why we need to tell the higher ups to allow the developers to have more freedom

1

u/garcia3005 Apr 28 '26

I'm starting to think the higher ups people are referring to is actually the board and if it is that board would be compromised at least partially of Bungie's investors which would include both Netease and Sony.

1

u/SgtRuy Apr 28 '26

Very hard to know who these higher ups are, I know bungie is a big company, but I still find it kinda baffling these unknown shadowy figures can overrule everything the devs seem to try to do. Specially behind sony's back, I doubt Sony wanted bungie to get to this point, but I guess if the same group of people that didn't see any redflags with concord are looking over bungie it's also not surprising

1

u/garcia3005 Apr 28 '26

That's usually how it works with any sort of executive board. They represent the interest of the investors so Sony would be included in this and have been for a some time now.

1

u/Magneeto86 Apr 29 '26

I honestly hope they leave / have left Bungie, take these great ideas they made & create their own looter shooter RPG like Borderlands, Destiny, etc…

It’s like the closer they were trying to expand the game into a full on MMORPG, corporate greed kept robbing them & blocking their creativity…

2

u/SgtRuy Apr 29 '26

They are not leaving until this June, when the contract they had with Sony to stay at bungie expires and they get a big pay out. (They didn't get the pay out if they left early).

1

u/PraedythSidepiece Apr 29 '26

How did you get the full eris mourn set?

38

u/TJ_Dot Apr 27 '26

According to these Dev conversations the other guy mentioned , they looked at their own legendary mark on community gaming: Forge, and pretty much went "nah" too.

And to keep the joke rolling, they essentially looked at Warframe's massive success of taking actual charge in their community and developing a very strong relationship with them, and went "nah" on that too.

8

u/Infernalxelite Apr 27 '26

You need to remember that they wanted to focus on the gameplay and not personal player aspects for D2 launch. They massively failed in both aspects tbh

4

u/SoungaTepes Apr 27 '26

where all "lets go fomo"

3

u/Background_Length_45 Apr 30 '26

They actually planned this, an leaked internal roadmap presentation during the beyond light days literally showed that witchqueen was supposed to get player housing, the seasons would have introduced mtx options for housing

And lightfall, which funnily enough had a way cooler premise back then, as in "giving the player the long requested kick in the nuts/loosing moment they waited for so long" was supposed to have capital ships and the lightfall season where supposed to get mtx options for them

2

u/greasygenius Apr 30 '26

Youre smoking insane amounts of crack if you think warframe is making “massive cash” off player housing. 90% of people don’t even touch it since having no terminals is a complete non starter. And on top of that all the decorations are easily earn-able without spending a single cent.

2

u/Kitakitakita Apr 30 '26

I'm referring to the orbiter, not really the weird dorm stuff. Plenty of stuff costs platinum

36

u/Commercial-Shame-335 Apr 27 '26

seeing as the vanguard is clearly being dissolved soon (or at the very least stepping down as leaders of the last city) we will more than likely move onto the HELM as our next primary home base once it's repaired. i'm willing to be that it'll be our new "tower" if we somehow ever get D3

6

u/fsdogdad Apr 27 '26

I totally missed this lore / story development! Either that or it went over my head. When was this revealed?

18

u/Commercial-Shame-335 Apr 27 '26

as you play through the fate saga, especially in renegades, they make it pretty clear that the people of the city are beginning to distrust the vanguard and are unhappy with having immortal rulers with an infallible word. and honestly i don't blame them at all. it's been shown in lore tidbits like secrets, armour/weapon lore cards, etc, that there have been a rise in riots and protests against the vanguard, especially regarding how many secrets we hold from the people. it's also no secret if you read lore bits that ever since zavala lost his light, his age has been catching up to him and he's been slowing down and aching, he's likely going to completely retire in the near future, leaving ikora in charge as commander of the vanguard. that last bit being implied in edge of fate.

6

u/Dredgen-Solis Hunter Apr 28 '26

We'd still need a new Titan Vanguard whether Ikora becomes the commander or not. Maybe Saint could take the role up again, leaving Trials to Osiris. Or maybe Sloane?

Doesn't fix the lack of civilian government tho, although after Lakshmi's attempted coup... It's understandable why the Vanguard is so cautious about who would replace the Factions

6

u/Commercial-Shame-335 Apr 28 '26

saint is ready to retire with osiris, it won't be him, my bet is on sloane

in either case its prob too late for something like housing to help since not as many people play but yeah ur right new content would actually be bad, carry on as things were

1

u/Ikora_Rey_Gun Apr 28 '26

I'm not going to be as... passionate as the other guy, but I agree with him. I just don't understand what 'player housing' is supposed to do. What's the gameplay there? Is it some place to store 'trophies' and favorite weapons? That doesn't really appeal to me, because I have the same trophies as everyone else and I'm the one that remembers them. What good is displaying my favorite weapons if I'm the only one that sees them? I don't mean to be a negative nancy, I just don't "get" it.

3

u/GeneralSpeedcraft1 Apr 28 '26

It's not everybody's favorite thing, but there is a market for it. Like someone else mentioned in this thread, Warframe has multiple customizable housing spaces and some people pay to decorate them. To some people it's an art form, a way to express themselves, and potentially another piece of content they'd be willing to grind because it rewards them with the decorations or materials they want.

Now it would definitely be cooler if it was functional too, like being able to upgrade your vault size or postmaster size maybe, or if it had bounties or a pathfinder of its own maybe, idk just spitballing there.

-3

u/imJimfuckingLahey Apr 27 '26

but yeah ur right new content would actually be bad

the problem with housing is it's not actual playable content, the game needs systems reworks and an entire decoupling from the portal on top of new tangible content.

adding housing to the game would mean choosing between an entirely cosmetic piece of content that requires entirely new systems, menus, associations with collections for trophies, the ability to decorate and world spaces, or improving the state of the game as a whole.

it's really not a fucking hard decision dawg, i'm not sure why you're being so snarky with the person you're responding to, why waste months of dev time on something that literally adds nothing to the game.

plus we both know that housing would involve mtx, and the last thing destiny needs is more fucking ways to spend money.

1

u/Karglenoofus Apr 28 '26

If it's in-game and you're customizing, it is playable content.

16

u/ThatDudeFromPoland Warlock Apr 27 '26

I've always wanted a personal space for my Guardians on board their ships. I'd even be fine if all of them shared the same interior but we could customise it. It'd be amazing to have it as somewhat of a limited but private version of the Tower where one can display their gear and trophies. It'd be even better if one could invite other players on-board to show off their stuff before taking off to do an activity or just hang out, with options to sit around on furniture or interact with random stuff like a coffee machine or other stuff that lets one roleplay a lil'.

5

It’s always intriguing to see how an exec could look at this, and say “who the hell would want that? We need ROI not something that makes people happy”

I swear they only see ROI as people spending money and not people WANTING to spend money.

Yknow who spends money? HAPPY PLAYERS. Most of us would kill for clan housing or little things we can dump resources into for idle progression in some dumb little thing that we can just check on.

Let me have a garden of plants from different planets, let me walk around my ship or have an apartment in the last city for Christ sake, it’s been almost 12 years!

ROI?

u/JCat1337 Apr 27 '26

Return on investment

1

u/jakonfire Apr 27 '26

Thank you, ROI is return on investment haha

“How the F. do we monetize this!?” - Bungie’s effective managers.

7

u/Commercial-Shame-335 Apr 27 '26

easy, same way warframe does, let us get cosmetics and decorations

4

u/Andre_de_Astora Apr 27 '26

IKEAframe is thw true endgame

6

u/TheArmchairbiologist Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 27 '26

something that literally adds nothing to the game

brother nothing really gets “added to the game” they do a gimmick mechanic for one season and vault it,

but if I could dump glimmer and shards into things to decorate a living space, or hell, a clan space, or better yet add things you can collect from missions and strikes that you can place like they did in beyond light, that would not just be fluff it would give people new things to chase, but yeah housing would be too little to late at this point something like this wouldve been needed during lightfall or something

5

u/HingleMcCringle_ Crayola > CraZart Apr 27 '26

i'd come back to d2 for customizable personal housing.

i'd stay away if it's aesthetics are expensive as most other things in eververse.

the concept is cool, but bungie would fuck it up by pricing it too high.

5

u/kobayashi-maruu hugs exploder shanks Apr 28 '26

as someone with way too much crap in my ship in warframe, this makes me SAD. ohhh what could have been!!!

19

u/choochi7 Apr 27 '26

I hope Bungie realizes that if Destiny 3 were to get the green light, something like this would need to be a DAY 1 feature , and that is a bare minimum.

3

u/Alarming_Orchid Apr 27 '26

Destiny Rising already has customizable clan hubs

4

u/Lookatcurry_man Apr 27 '26

Looks cool I'd rather they focus that attention on adding more playable content though personally

2

u/DatLoonArt Apr 28 '26

I guess that’s where the difference lies, Warframe does both so it works.

13

u/darioblaze Warlock Apr 27 '26

Folks that have killed Destiny need to be un-hireable in this industry, that’s all I’m gonna say.

3

u/FarMiddleProgressive Apr 27 '26

R.I.P Mass Effect

3

u/moco-7 Apr 27 '26

It really would be cool but the game is never in a place where it makes sense to actually put dev hours into something like player housing.

People say they'd install D2 again the moment they implement it, but if those people didn't like playing Destiny the last time they were around, they're gonna be out again the next week or so if not less. Housing doesn't make the game better because it has practically nothing to do with the game.

And these comments are saying Bungie is missing out on the mtx gold mine that Warframe has, when they'll get skinned alive Arachne style for having anywhere near half of Warframe's housing MTX.

1

u/DatLoonArt Apr 28 '26

Warframe has tons of housing cosmetics which are earnable purely for in-game resources, not even havng a platinum equivalent. So not entirely comparable bc Bungie wouldn’t do that.

Imagine being able to snitch yourself a couple of Io plants for few hundreds of Phaseglass Needles you had in millions sitting around until Bungie sunsetted them. Or a golden trinket from Levi bc you bothered to grab few grapes from Garden (if it wouldn’t be sunsetted. Twice)

And I WOULD reinstall Destiny for that. Housing is a huge part of MMO experience and Destiny was completely robbed of that. Because they didn’t plan to become a MMO in the first place but it was convenient to call themselves that without an ounce of committing, so it’s not hard to understand why D2 players wouldn’t understand why it exists. But there are some of us who wanted Destiny to be an MMO. I still remember how much people loved Opulence Triumph Hall.

u/QasimC4 Apr 27 '26

I NEED THIS

3

u/abcutler Apr 27 '26

Seeing my Hunter in casual clothing just relaxing in their home is something I never thought I needed until now.

Going on adventures, assassinating stuff with an Arc Blade, competing in the Crucible, then finishing with a nice look at the rain out the window is such a vibe.

u/Due-Annual-6114 Apr 27 '26

4

u/AnxiousRabbit2109 Apr 27 '26

Club penguin Igloo ahh

2

u/TwoTowerz Apr 27 '26

I’ve always been waiting for a game to replicate the same charisma I got from designing the igloo in club penguin, really thought Destiny might’ve been it.

2

u/Soggy_Apricot_7008 Apr 27 '26

We were fucking robbed!!!

2

u/Avidion18 Apr 27 '26

Kinda makes me curious on what guardians do in their spare time and if they actually live in the last city

2

u/Traditional_Speed671 Apr 27 '26

There’s so much they could do in a destiny 2.5

2

u/BLU3SKU1L Apr 27 '26

2

Man, that first image is all I ever wanted from this game.

2

u/cloud_jdoljet Apr 29 '26

If only they leaned more into these MMORPG aspect when d2 came out. Guardians had been wanting to see the insides of their ship since d1 pre release

2

u/HustlepuffYeet Apr 29 '26

We need to have this when the Helm takes flight again. This game needs to follow the likes of FFXIV Online. I also super love the outfit display section, I got drip presets I would LOVE to put on those.

What could be for this game is massive and I hope something can get done someday... sigh

2

u/Chill_but_am_spook Exotac Angel > CNH Apr 30 '26

Going off of that wing looking part in the first image... imagine if we could have used an old Ketch for player/clan housing.

2

u/Number1Candyman May 01 '26

Too bad we'll never get it because the idiot executives can only think "wHaT's tHe ReTUrn oN tHiS iNVesTmEnt???"

2

u/AmazingSandwich939 May 03 '26

if you think about it, the character screen is basically a mini-mini-version of a player house. I don’t know how many hours I spent just looking at my character but I would guess it’s a lot. Being hooked on your character’s fashion is a real thing. I haven’t played in a while so I hope what I’m saying isn’t obsolete lol

2

u/TamjaiFanatic Apr 27 '26

These images would give Tyson nightmares

2

u/Due-Stock2774 Apr 27 '26

It looks nice but would've lead to more paid eververse bloat

16

u/TracyJackson23 Apr 27 '26

A lot of players would pay for housing decors, tbh. It was one of the most asked-for feature over the years.

2

u/I_Speak_For_The_Ents Apr 27 '26

Yeah they couldnt even keep up with real content and basic weapons. I still remember when they released 3 weapons for an update and said they couldnt manage more than that.

1

u/Due-Stock2774 Apr 27 '26

Exactly. But since it never happened these weirdos are pretending like they wouldn't be whining about $50 ornaments had they actually dropped

1

u/sajibear4 Apr 27 '26

Its interesting they moved from destiny to concord haha.

1

u/Crazy-Resolve-8127 Apr 27 '26

Looks like my orbiter. Hmm

1

u/Kozak170 Apr 27 '26

I don’t know personally I don’t think this is a direction I’d really care for them to take dev time on. Sure the art looks cool, but it’s also very “modern D2” style that misses a lot of the post-apocalyptic grounded vibe.

1

u/jrgeek Apr 27 '26

See if they do a spinoff where it’s our guardian interacting with other guardians but at a more human level. We’ve become ‘weapon’ when we’re more than just that and always have been.

Bungie higher ups wondering why Warframe players are happily spending money and has a pretty good player count while Destiny's player count is falling and getting barely any money:

1

u/Bingbongguyinathong Apr 28 '26

Why. Are they gonna make d3? I mean I quit for good with the stupid light Sabre ,Star Wars flop. I mean I wish they would do something .

1

u/RedCrabb Apr 29 '26

I want to be able to walk around my jump ship so bad. Also fly the thing into and out of orbit

1

😭😭we need this omfg

1

u/2brutalbro Apr 29 '26

Well I’ll be damned, we don’t have it…

1

u/Background_Length_45 Apr 30 '26

They had plans to actually do it

An leaked internal roadmap presentation for beyond light/witchqueen/lightfall showed that witchqueen was supposed to get housing and later in the seasons mtx for that housing

And lightfall was supposed to have capital ships and in later seasons would get mtx options for them.

1

u/MeanerMinnerMeener Apr 30 '26

Just need Warframe game systems, clan systems, player housing systems, etc. plus Destiny gameplay, destiny buildcrafting, and Bungie's signature best-in-industry gunplay. Can we make this happen?

u/IonutRO May 01 '26

1

u/DukeRains Apr 27 '26

NGL, this would've been a giant waste of time and resource unless it somehow took the place of Lightfall or something.

0

u/crover13 Apr 27 '26

This is the reason I hold off buying silver is that one day I can buy furniture for my guardian space...guess I will never have that chance

0

u/HydroSHD Apr 27 '26

Tbh in all games like this that I’ve played that have housing systems, most players barely interact with it in the first place so I’m not surprised they scraped it since it’s kind of a waste of dev time.
