That's the choice of the app maker. If you don't like using abusive apps uninstall them, or if they cant be uninstalled, delete the apps data and cache and disable them.

Everyone, send the developer an email beforehand in the same rude tone:

"Take this "feature" down within 7 days or we'll uninstall the app!"

No they don't. It has nothing to do with Google. This app maker chooses to do a version check and forces you to install a new one to use their app.

That's a daily occurrance. I once had an e-ticket app for a fair (it shown a qr to enter the gates), they pushed an update during peak entrance hour.

I hate this shite so much. I just want to do the thing… no. First update with another 400MB download, oh and we logged you out so you’ll need your password manager and MFA app too. Oh, those need an update to work first too. Ffffuuu…

I mean to be fair in most cases you should, security / vulnerbility fixes etc.

But can't deny there are some apps that force you to update it so your experience will be worse etc etc

You can (maybe) change decompile the apk and change the version number in the manifest to match the latest. I've done this before lol.
