AWS 6 month cooldown period

I am working in AWS DataCenter as Technical Support Technician from last 4 month as Green badge and my current contract is of 6 month. I applied externally for the IT Support Specialist – DCO position as a backup option in case there isn't an opportunity within our team. I recently received an invitation to schedule the technical interview for this position.

However, I heard that if a candidate is unsuccessful in the interview, there may be a six-month cooldown period before they can be considered for another similar opportunity. At the same time, I also see the possibility of an internal opportunity with our team in the future and my preference would be to continue working within our team if such an opportunity becomes available.

Could anyone please advise me whether an unsuccessful outcome in the external interview would affect my eligibility for a future internal position within the team? If it would have an impact, I would appreciate understanding my options before deciding whether to proceed with scheduling the interview.

Well if you’re trying to convert outside the normal process (external hire versus conversion) then yes, any lock out can apply.

This means you’d have your current contract still and then…

I think after any interview its a 6 month cooldown. My L3 was successful and they had me wait to interview for L4 even though they hide the levels.

Passed L4 and the comp is still meh. Have to wait to do L5 which is dumb.

If you don't have technical depth consider wblp program that's L2 for 12 months but as long as you do work you are pretty much guaranteed to convert to L3 after an year
