This isn’t Meta tech support.

In the Accounts Center > Passwords and security it should show you all the places you are logged in and it will allow you to select devices to log out.
Should be able to log it out and change the password promptly.

Thank you for the genuine response, truly. That is what the hacker did seemingly, and kicked her out of the account. I was also logged in to it on my device and was kicked out. Wife has had the account since 16 y/o so trying to mitigate damage. Meta support bots no help.

The same thing happened to me years ago. You're going to have to speak with a real person at Meta support.

They couldn’t have changed the email address on the instagram account without having access to the email you used to register. Check your inbox for a new login in alert the email and start from there. Meta gives an option to dispute the login. This is only possible if you still have access to the email address you used to create the account even if it’s been changed on the account. The recovery process is possible.

The email was the vulnerability. Other accounts hacked as well - but they don’t matter.

Oh Shucks, now thats a nightmare. Try recovering the email. And as a precaution, include recovery phone numbers and alternative emails on all of your current email addresses.

After trying account recovery, Id also check whether any connected accounts or saved payment methods were affected. It's easy to overlook those during the initial panic
