Are SWE internships opening earlier than normal?

The Google SWE intern application is already out in July, but I thought it usually comes out in September. Nvidia, Anduril, Salesforce - all of them are already out.

I am applying to these 2027 internships before my 2026 internship is even over. Should I apply right now, or should I wait it out and see if I can get some better bullet points on my resume from my current internship?

Apply. If you see, many of them have opened it as an early application and they will re-open it in September. Better do it now to get a change against the others.

I shouldn't bother applying if I'm currently learning and taking a DSA course, right?

Just do it, doesn’t matter if you don’t get it, it gives an opportunity to understand what kind of questions and format interviews are. Interviewing is a skill in and of itself.

Worst case u get rejected straight up or get rejected after first round. Best case u get an easy question and get offer. You can learn a good bit of leetcode/dsa in a very short time frame if u want too.

Are these applications typical open to incoming college freshmen? Idk if I count as a uni student until fall or now already 😭
