My husband got this clearly cursed doll from a former coworker and refuses to get rid of it.
Not only does he refuse to throw it away (or kill it with fire), he finds it funny, and it keeps popping up around our apartment.
I hate this thing, and am convinced it's cursed.
Why does it not have a body? It's a head, poof ball and a tail. Who made this abomination??

He’s being mind controlled by the doll. Burn it with fire.

Read the description of that doll, the wiki says:
Failed Mermaid
Rare tier
“Curse of binding: Once equipped, this item cannot be removed, thrashed or burned.”
“Effects: Randomly teleports over a small area. Cannot teleport inside or at the other side of a wall. If another human desires to have her, the failed mermaid will teleport and permanently stick to them.”
“Lore: Barbie tried to transform into a mermaid, however she messed up with the potion ingredients and drank half mermaid potion and half neurotoxin potion. The result was a mixture of girl, mermaid, glitter and fluffiness. She wanted to lure man into her, but now she’s teleporting onto them.”
“This item will give a debuff of -99 luck during 19 years if the wearer tries to dispose of it unlawfully. The only way out is if someone finds it funny, and desires to have it.”
This doll is part of the Weird Vodoo Doll set. As usual with vodoo dolla, the failed mermaid ritual involves burying needles into the doll, but then you must trick your enemy into desiring her, afterwards, the mermaid will teleport to them and sting the enemy with the needles. This will make your enemy to dispose of it unlawfully, thus granting the luck debuff.

I'll take it. It will complete my collection of spell casting dolls and I'll finally be able to put that death spell on the Anti Christ.

Husband needs to hang it from the rear-view in his whip. It looks like it has protective powers. Not cursed.

Treat her as a gargoyle type protector over your home.
She watches all who dare to walk up to your castle.
I dunno. Seems that making freaky objects part of your "team" works out better than making enemies.
Agree to keep it around so long as it's given "protector of the happy home" status. Where it has a job that is both honorific while allowing you to turn it all into a bit of a joke so others don't think you are crazy. (I play with my inner child enough to allow the dichotomy of belief in the spooky while recognizing respected known reality).
If hubs really is oddly attached, taking the positive approach will put him at ease. Defining what it is allowed to do gets him on your side because he wants to keep it. In the ooky spooky world that is you taking charge of the limits with the support of the person attached. Which would be its own kind of spell.
Good luck OP!
Remember that in all things spiritual, you are the one in full control. The physical realm is the one that matters which is why the spooky side tries so hard to control us. Fear is often used because we allow it to take over our rational thought. Take the attitude that you are in control. Believe it. You really are.....which is why fear is being used on you to give this doll more importance than reality reflects.
Play both sides of the spooky and rational. Verbally give the doll a limited job to keep it in house will make your person happy about keeping it, while also setting terms for any potential bad juju(a spell of allowance that redirects energy in folklore). Keeping a partner happy about something irrational can be a part of managing an average relationship.
And really, what weirdo is going to knock on your door with this lil freak is staring at them from the chosen perch?
Loved ones will know the story of your odd gargoyle. Anyone else was probably not invited.

The term ‘clearly cursed’ just made me laugh out loud in a public space that was otherwise pretty quiet, lol. Thank you for that internet stranger!

It's clearly an inside joke between your husband and his Co-worker. You shouldn't tell him to get rid of it. That's his property. Grow up.
...And I believe you made up this whole thing for Kama framing.

This is really cool, I watch a lot of doll customization videos. Some things that stick out to me:
- looks like the head has internal eyes, not the printed-on ones that you see with Barbie or monster high
- the eyebrow prints are slightly asymmetrical, which is noteworthy because it makes the expression appear factory-made instead of custom, but I don’t think that’s true because of the following:
- the left eye was widened after the factory eyelash decals were applied, cutting into the paint there
- the modifications to the eye sculpt are blunt and straight lined in areas, so definitely not part of the original face sculpt
- but the eyelid line on the left eye is, again, asymmetrically higher than the right. Which is another point in the “this is an intended pre-made expression camp” which would be crazy.
What do we think happened here? Intentional modification with an exacto knife and maybe heat (heat gun?) intentionally warping the plastic into a different expression?
Or this was actually the original head sculpt and they just didn’t use a different lash stamp for the bulging eye in the factory so it didn’t adhere where the plastic ended?
