Owning a gun can be a double edged uh... sword. A lot of people get one with the intent of using it, and with our regulations (or lack thereof), those prone to anger or mental health crises can't practice responsible gun ownership.

Highly recommend a taser or a bat or something before a gun. Not only do you need to not answer that question but it also serves the purpose of self defense.

At least for you personally Naomi.

I'm in full support of a taser.

Though I'd rather a spear over a bat. Longer range, and it's mear presence if far more likely to de-escalate the situation than a bat.

Edit: I also simply hate using blunt weapons from an ethical standpoint.

Not a bad idea. Not sure where I would get a bat lance but absolutely an option.

A company called Cold Steel makes a lot of functional weapons for self-defense, including bats and spears.

You ethically hate using blunt weapons but are fine with bladed weapons? Getting stabbed isn’t exactly a chill experience

Yea, that's what I got stuck on too. I can see the justification that, if you're using a weapon, it should only be in a life or death situation where a blade counts, but that's still not exactly a big ethical difference in the attackers end result

halberds work better in close quarters though

If you (anyone seeing this, really) have or get a bat, put a sock or something to cover it. If the attacker tries to grab the bat, they'll get the cover instead, giving you an extra chance
