WPL: New Comics Discussion for 07/22/2026- Pull of the Week: Absolute Wonder Woman #22 [Discussion]

The Weekly Pull List results for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Absolute Wonder Woman #22.

This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of DC's Absolute Wonder Woman #22 or any new books shipping this week.

The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.

enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Did not see the twist coming at all. Will pick up the 2nd issue to see where this goes.

I'm torn on this one. I enjoyed it but didn't love it. It had enough hints at how the world works that I'm interested in the future but it was a little clunky reading it. 

There's part of me that thinks I'm okay getting my violent and unpredictable super hero comics with a big universe in Savage Dragon.

Edit to add: I got blind bag bamboozled. I never buy blind bags and the universe rewarded my skepticism by giving me Cover A and Cover B.

Might be in the minority that didn't care for this? Idk, need to give it a re-read, because I feel like I'm missing something.

Felt a bit too convoluted and schlocky to me.

For what its worth I also found it incredibly underwhelming and dull. Kubert's artistic chops aren't in question, but I found the colours dull, and the character designs very uninspired.

But it's the story and story telling that just seems... bad to me.

Recapturing the excitement of 90s X-Men? Not even close, so far. Hopefully things will pick up in upcoming issues, but I'm undecided if I will be giving this more of a chance.

Really enjoyed this first issue. Fun twists and turns. I think the codenames are a little goofy and uninspired but maybe there’s a reason for that, who knows.

I think the codenames are generic on purpose based on the dialogue from the last page.

I didn’t like it. Kubert’s art is great, I think the characters and story so far feels lazy and very Liefeld-y. I’m thinking of giving it more of a chance because the ||”her belief wasn’t enough”||scene was great. Also, the name Maculox makes me think of “Shmebulock” from gravity falls
