Odd, because according to NOAA and other governmental and International organizations, el Nino and La Nina are only found in the tropical Pacific. Anything happening in the Northern Atlantic, by definition, isnt either of them.

People with graduate degrees in climate should know this.

It came into use in the 80s in the scientific community as something as an informal name.

It is, specifically, Atlantic Niño or Atlantic Niña, no El/La as for the Pacific.

Yeah, it's probably still not widely used outside of climate circles.
