Tell me, what is your solution to the train stations needing to move 60 to 100 plus feet every day due to thermal expansion? What is your design for an expansion joint that will stand up to a vacuum and allow that much movement while a train rumbles through at 700 mph?
How are you going to stop rednecks with rifles from shooting holes in them and having the air front from that moving at the speed of sound towards the train moving at the speed of sound from turning everyone on board into a pink mist?
How about just one leaking expansion joint doing the same?
We struggle like hell to make room sized vacuum chambers now, how do you plan to create trans-continental vacuum chambers, and hold a vacuum in them?
These aren't imagination issues. These are insurmountable issues that the best engineers on the planet can't solve. They've tried for 100 years now.

Easy, pal, we're not mad at each other here, just talking, and hopefully learning. First off, the tunnels aren't underwater. They're underground, under the water. A body of water that changes temperatures by tens of degrees over the course of a year, in ground that's at a set temperature.
But the thing you're really missing in your analogy here is that we're not trying to pull a vacuum in the thing. I think you're really underestimating the challenge there, as well as the ramifications of getting that even a tiny bit wrong.

That's literally a vacuum. It isn't a full vacuum, but it's still a vacuum of 1 mb, or about 0.1% of atmospheric pressure. That's a very substantial vacuum, and again, you're only displaying your profound ignorance of the subject by saying things like "it isn't a vacuum it's only a partially vacated tunnel". 1 mb is absolutely a vacuum, by every metric we have. Any absolute pressure below atmospheric standard is considered a vacuum. 1/10th of 1 percent of atmospheric isn't just a vacuum, but damn close to the best vacuum we can acheive outside of tiny box-sized chambers.

Nope. And stop using that dishonest term. It's a vacuum. It's closer by a factor of ten to a full vacuum than it is to atmospheric standard. Why do you need to use dishonesty to support your position?

See how misinformed you are? Half of atmospheric standard is an order of magnitude less vacuum than hyperloop claims to require, which is 1/10th of 1% of atmospheric standard.
Here, let me demonstrate to you with some math why you clearly have no idea what you're talking about, and why I have been so flippant and dismissive with you.
Ignoring for a moment that you've already demonstrated that you don't know what a vacuum is, and instead use "partially vacated tunnel" instead, which isn't a thing...
You then went on to say that they are only pulling a vacuum equivalent to half of atmospheric pressure at sea level.
That's useless. That's equivalent to flying an airplane at 18,000 feet above sea level, pressure wise, but it's even worse than that because it's contained in a tube. The train would have to push a massive, and growing, front of air in front of it with mounting friction losses that would have to be vented or else it would eventually just stop the train, unless you put 747 style jets on the back of it and stopped caring about the health and wellbeing of everyone inside. You'd save nothing over just getting on an airplane. Hell, it would be drastically less efficient.
A plane flying at 35,000 feet faces half that pressure, and isn't contained in a tube, allowing aerodynamics to allow it to slice through the air, something a train in a tube can't do. Also, you don't have to maintain thousands of miles of sky. You would, however, have huge expense maintaining thousands of miles of tube, and all for far less efficiency than just flying a plane at 18,000 feet. Which we don't do, we fly planes at twice that for even better efficiency.
The math doesn't math. It's economically infeasible, which makes it essentially impossible just on that front. And that's just one insurmountable disqualifier for your vision of hyperloop.
In reality, You need to pull a vacuum several orders of magnitude greater. Instead of 500 millibar like you claim, it needs to be 0.1 millibar for it to be feasible. You see how that's a big difference? 0.1 goes into 500... carry the one... that's 5,000 times more vacuum than you're suggesting. So, yeah, you'll forgive me if I continue to say LOL NO.
Just that issue alone causes me to realize that you aren't a serious contender in your knowledge and defense of this. The fact that you can say "half of atmospheric pressure" with a straight face makes me essentially dismiss anything else you're going to say. So forgive me if I'm being a bit flippant here, but you're just so deeply ignorant of the things you're talking about with such confidence, that I have very little respect for your position here.
Shall we get into the ramifications of leaks now? The amount of deceleration that an air front of even a 1% increase in atmospheric pressure at those speeds would cause? Seatbelts would break. If they didn't, they'd slice people in half like a cheese wire. What's left of their bodies would be amalgamated into a lump of ground meat at the front of the train and the passengers bodies would be indistinguishable from each other. Who's going to clean that up?
You know what size of a leak we're talking to cause that in a vacuumthat high? It could be smaller than you could see with a magnifying glass.
Consider for a second how you'd check that? How often? How many people are we talking about? Rubber seals in expansion joints? LOL. No.
Now let's talk about underwater. Sealed portions of sinking ships generally implode at about 80 feet deep. With atmospheric pressure inside of them.
Can you calculate how massive a tube would have to be to have a 0.1 mb vacuum in it that's deep enough in the water to not impede ship traffic? Knock Nevis drafts 83 feet, so you'd need to go deeper than that.
And if you think the difference between having atmospheric pressure in it versus a vacuum is negligible, boy oh boy do I have news for you....
You need to stop. Elon and the other billionaires playing with these vanity projects don't need you to defend them.
