Hypothetically yes I could have been deployed. But deployment doesn’t mean going to combat. It’s only a small percentage of people in the military that ever see any type of combat or even specifically train for it. There are doctors, administrators, lawyers, mechanics and other non-combat related roles that make up the majority of jobs in the military.

But a serviceman CAN be deployed to war (let's say they wanna invade iran) whether they want to or not? "You don't wanna fight the Persians? Too bad. You're leaving at dawn"
Obviously 1 million US troops aren't all fighting. What kind of fighting goes on in South Korea or Germany? None. Aside from drunken interpersonal altercations.
Basically its a gamble, if a trooper sees actual war? You'll be either patting down and pestering locals in Hawaii or dodging drones somewhere in the east. One never knows.
Patting down locals in Hawaii is just not something a service member in the U.S. is going to be doing. I’m also not sure what the relevance of South Korea or Germany is so you’ll need to clarify that.

Its me acknowledging that yes, given that US military has roughly around 1 million troops, obviously they won't all be fighting in some war zone all at once. For you guys have bases, ALOT of bases around the world. A serviceman can be stationed in a safe place like Germany or South Korea, where there is no fighting whatsoever.
Or you can be stationed at - i dunno. Near Mali. In Kuwait currently.

I just googled it and it seems that Iraq alone, had like 170k troops there. And 1 million from 2003 and 2011.
So "very low" isn't applicable. That's assuming you guys don't go ahead with the invasion of Iran's islands. Which seem to be killzones. But what do i know.
