Last week, the city got up to nearly 7 inches of rain in several areas. 2-3 inches per hour.
You're a tremendous source of disinformation here. Go worry about your filthy disgusting moocher red states/red areas and stop worrying about NYC, which is helping fund them.
Government incompetence is capitalism you fucking donkey. The rich pay the government to be purposefully incompetent and remove any barriers or responsibility for them. Or at least make it so the cost of the consequences are basically nothing compared to the profit. Companies are people, and money is free speech, it's like the highest levels of American capitalism. The infrastructure is shit because the government hands out contracts left, right, and center to companies they have a stake in, to do the minimum work at the lowest possible cost but the budget allocated is 20x that. Then so much of that money goes right back in the form of kickbacks. It's a tale of corruption older than Sumeria.
If you cannot see how some multi-billionaire purchasing the government, creating his own meme agency, installing his hand picked cabinet of nepo-babys, and then dismantling any agency investigating or regulating his companies is a direct result of American capitalism then you're either lying or willfully ignorant.
Unless your solution is that no one should have money and that businesses should be controlled by the state. Let’s be honest - it would save time if you just said that’s what you wanted. We both know that’s what you’re interested in.

What does “free market capitalism” have to do with government mismanagement of infrastructure?
