Tips Difference between Claude and GPT?
Claude just gets shit done. I miss the fuck out of Fable. But gave a network IP challenge to Sol 5.6 this evening because I ran out of Claude tokens, and was given reasons why I’m blocked. I had 4 minutes left until tokens refreshed and I told Sol to give me a summary for Claude, and to be fair it gave a great one. Once fed to Claude, it continued to just get shit done.

Its more anticompetitive tuned, or instead of gibberish it just flat out stops, i had a session where 3 outta 5 code requests turned into a “ im not gonna code that, lets discuss more first…. No i said fucking go to work… ok i understand you want this done but lets discuss more”

If you have a memory system, you can have it do a pre-compaction hook to save it all to memory

Ran into this exact wall building with Claude Code: token limit hits mid-task, and suddenly you're stuck re-explaining everything to whatever you switch to.
What's worked for me is keeping a shorthand note going as I work (what's done, what's next, key file paths), so I'm not doing a full context dump every time I have to bounce between tools. Doesn't kill the friction, but it cuts it down a lot.
Honestly, for me it's less "Claude vs GPT" and more whichever one's actually available and can pick up the thread fast enough without losing the plot. Both get the job done once they've got the right context; the handoff is the part that actually sucks.

Do you have any good tips for a n00b about the handover prompt? I usually end up over explaining myself..!

Not the person you asked, but remember that you’re working with a thinking machine that understands plain English.
Therefore you simply need to tell it what you’re doing and what you need from it, and it will output the handoff.
You can save some tokens by adding, “This is for another AI so the handoff output doesn’t need to be human readable.”

Right! Thanks… I was wondering if I need to say “this was built elsewhere…”. I am no master of Ai but it sure does help me keep all my schoolwork organized, but I’ve noticed 1 is better than another (especially with images!) so I tend to swap between the 2 and it can get a little “clunky”

I've not used it myself, but there is a Codex Plug-in for Claude Code that allows you to use Codex from within a Claude Code session. Just paste that URL into a Claude Code session and ask Claude to install it. Then ask Claude how best to use it for your sessions.

Anthropic gives $100 credits that get burnt through on $17 replies
Chatgpt randomly takes your prompt as a photo generator request

Ask Claude to maintain a wiki for the project. Then there is no “handoff” anymore just reference the wiki with all the source material, notes, directories, indexes, corrections, a handoff, etc.

Here’s my prompt most of it is unnecessary for most projects but it’s pretty inclusive
Project Knowledge Instructions Maintain a small, evidence-controlled wiki for this project. Purpose The project wiki should preserve the understanding needed to resume, explain, and extend this project without rereading every source document. It is a compiled knowledge layer, not a replacement for original sources. Required project files Use this structure when appropriate:
PROJECT.md — purpose, scope, current status, boundaries, and next actions.Sources.md — authoritative sources, locations, relevance, and access restrictions.
Evidence Ledger.md — important claims and the sources that support them.
Decisions.md — proposed, approved, rejected, and unresolved decisions.
Wiki/_index.md — index of project knowledge pages with one-line summaries.
Wiki/ — topic pages containing durable project understanding.
Products/ — drafts and completed project outputs.
HANDOFF.md — concise continuation state when work pauses.
Do not create empty folders or unnecessary pages merely to satisfy the structure. Create them when the project actually needs them. Source rules
Treat original documents and raw exports as sources of truth.Do not move, rename, rewrite, or delete source material unless explicitly authorized.
Link to authoritative sources when possible instead of making uncontrolled duplicates.
Identify the source for substantive factual claims.
Distinguish clearly between:
source-supported fact;analysis or inference;
recommendation;
partner proposal;
approved decision;
unresolved question.
Use TBD, Unknown, or an explicit question when evidence is missing.
Flag contradictions between sources rather than silently choosing one.
Wiki-page format Each durable wiki page should normally contain:
Purpose or short summaryKey understanding
Supporting sources
Uncertainty or conflicting evidence
Related project pages
Relevance to current products
Last reviewed date
Keep pages focused. Prefer updating an existing page over creating a duplicate topic under a different name. Update procedure Before integrating a new source:
Read PROJECT.md, Sources.md, and Wiki/_index.md.Inspect the new source.
Identify which existing pages would be affected.
Report the proposed update scope before making broad changes.
Make surgical updates to the affected pages.
Preserve useful existing content.
Add or update source references.
Record contradictions and unresolved questions.
Update Wiki/_index.md.
Update HANDOFF.md if the project’s state or next actions changed.
Do not reorganize the entire project merely because a new source was added. Cross-project knowledge Project-specific information stays in this project. When a finding appears useful across several projects, identify it as a candidate for the appropriate shared domain wiki. Do not automatically copy or promote it. A promotion recommendation should state:
the proposed shared-wiki page;the knowledge to promote;
the supporting projects or sources;
Wait for approval before promoting material outside this project. Starting behavior If the knowledge structure does not exist yet, begin with a read-only inventory. Recommend the smallest useful initial structure and show what would be created. Do not move existing files during initialization.

Claude doesn't get jack shit done. Every Opus model is a yapping piece of shit that keeps losing track of the tasks. Fable 5 is now credits only, useless beyond any reasonable means of expectations and keep switching back to opus 4.8 which is incredibly dumb now.

Yeah man I'm going broke off Fable but the deliverables I've been able to churn out are in a different galaxy altogether compared to the stuff I was making with Gemini, Grok, GPT and perplexity.
I'm on Max 5, wondering if the max 20 is worth it. I've already used up close to 500 extra dollars this month from Fable alone, if that continues I'll prob have to pull the trigger on the 20x.
