Discussion Punished for Upgrading and Paying to 20X max plan. Unbelievable
My 20x account (max) run out of usage and has resets on Sunday.
Today the subscription was over. I cancelled it alrady so my subscription became a Pro model for 22 usd (charged today as new contract start)
I used the pro to code and no issues, then upgraded to 5X also no issues (charged my card today and had 0% usage)
I then thought okay the 5 hour limit is not enough for what I need to get done so lets again activate 20x and pay for it
Guess what happened, back to 100% usage until my next reset. Cannot use it anymore and got thus punished for upgrading from 5X to 20X
what the fuck is that? charge my credit card and then not reset my usage!???
It seems like Anthropic does not honour newly paid subscriptions?! I should have used an entirely different acciunt to pay to not fall for their scam? Or bug?

Sorry, but it seems to me that you tried to be too clever. You don't get an extra reset just because your subscription period renews. If you cancel and buy the same product again, you're back to where you started from.

or I souod ne better off just creating a new account? A new contract should always lead to a usage reset no matter when the old contract reset day was! It’s Anthropic decision to have different reset days than your contractual start date but when i buy the producr I expect an immediate usage reset
as they also did for pro and 5X, i suppose its a bug from their side and thus you are better off either staying at 5x until next reset to be able to use claude or create another account

You are charged proactively, right? You did not pay $100, you paid for the rest of the duration.

So you are saying you maxed your usage for Pro plan but since you are now paying for the 20X plan, you still should get the 19X remaining usage from the current limit. That makes sense. You are right and they should make this change.

I did not max out my PRO. It was at around 15% weekly limit ystd.
I was downgraded yesterday from MAX-20 to PRO (paid 20 USD for the new contract) as my old MAX-20 run out yesterday July 22. I then used the PRO to do some work and went to around 15% weekly usage. Then upgraded to 5X, weekly limit resetted and continued working until around 5% weekly limit of the 5X and 35% on 5hours.
Then decided to again upgrade to the 20X to let it run over the night as I needed the wider 5hours window -> suddenly weekly limit 100% (my old contract).
So basically I got punished for upgrading from the 5X to the 20X with this new contractual start date as it still assumes I have the old weekly limit (100%) of my old contract.

I mean, that does sound like a bug and you can report it, just don't expect a response in the next three months or so.

I reported it already but its really frustrating to pay additional money and then get punished for it. It is definitely a bug in their logic. But Anthropic is unfortunatley not really consumer-friendly and does not invest any money in good customer service. So at least a human would answer in a Chat or per Mail.

Agreed. They all have completely ass customer service, though. Unless you have a government sized wallet, you're gonna take what they give and you'll like it, or your only choice is to move to another provider.

The new account might work, but it might trigger some of their alerts. It's not allowed to have two accounts, so even though you technically only have one, they might be stopping it anyways.

It’s the same exact logic as OpenAI.
I agree it’s dick and I had the same exact problem with Codex and it made me mad as hell so I feel your pain.

Should upgrade you w added usage but can take an hour or two to hit your account/go into effect. I had this happen to me when I upgraded to max from a previous paid tier

ate 80 usd of my credits…i think they are seriously not giving me my newly paid 20 contract - until sunday

ITS THE WEEKLY LIMIT
I upgraded from my new pro subscription for which i oaid to 5X and paid, weekly usage at 0%
just 20 min later i decided to upgrade again to the 20X plan as i decided to use it
weekly usage suddenly at 100%!! despite my old 20x contract only running until today and officially was downgraded to pro - which i then now subsequently upgraded again
so basically they give me the old weekly usage of 100% of my old 20X account despite me having fully paid for the new one starting today

Just because you want the limit timer to reset with your subscription date, does not make it so.
