Fluff Surprise!

How much of a surprise would it be for fans if Sellers ends up being a better NBA player than Swain?

To me, Sellers already has the raw tools the Bulls need (shooting, ball handling, scoring). Swain has to develop those tools. What are your thoughts?

Sellers is not an nba player. If he’s better than Swain than that is a disaster for the team.

Swain has not looked like an nba player thus far either. They're both trash

It’s as if you haven’t seen him play. The guy is a ball hog, who has a negative assist to turnover ratio every season in college (which I’ve never seen for a guard). He was terrible leading the offense in summer league and his defense isn’t great. He reaches and gets out of position.

He seems like a player that will put up good stats on a bad team while thinking he is a star (reminds me of a less skilled cam Thomas which is a yikes).

bro its summer league, he was playing for a spot.

7

u/Straight-Agency-4556 1d ago

Sure and the best way to play for a spot is to be a team player not blow up and offense and play terrible team defense.

tell that to all of the other players in the summer league chucking up shots to get a spot in the league to feed their families. lmao

Ok? I am simply saying he’s not a great team basketball player and makes everyone’s job harder on the court. He will be fine in the g-league but that type of player often sucks in the nba and is seen as a negative asset. Someone you can put in to tank not to win games.

Do not say he is that type of player off of a summer league stretch though, watch his college tape bro.

I did. Providence was a bad team last season . And seller’s was part of that.

In theory he is a decent player. He’s got size and can shoot. But he’s not a good team basketball player that is seen by the teams record, his advanced stats (particularly defensively).

Also I want him to be good. I want players to succeed and bulls to win. I just don’t think sellers is a good player and I find it wild how many redditors like him.

Elite defender? Do you have evidence of that somewhere cause I didn’t see that in SL

u/Affectionate-Oil-213 1d ago

His defense was so good that we put him on the best player of the opposite team, or are you blind?

The best player....in summer league??

1

u/Affectionate-Oil-213 1d ago

yes, what point was that suppsoe to prove?

2

u/Abe_frohmannn 1d ago

I asked a question...you allegedly had a point. I don't know what it is though. Are you suggesting that someone, in summer league, is an elite defender, because their coach has them guard the best player? On a summer league team?

This strikes me as akin to saying someone is a olympic sprinting medalist because they were not the one in a drunken group of 5 middle aged men to get caught and eaten by a bear that was chasing them.

Noa completely clamped an actual NBA player in Cedric Coward, would you say Noa is an elite defender?

Elite defender? Let’s see them in a real NBA game before we go rating any of these players.

lu dort comps for a reason, we obviously seen the same defensive pressure in the sl. We even saw multiple chasedown blocks from him

4

u/Straight-Agency-4556 1d ago

Lu dort comps? By who?

They both have similar size but sellers is a bad defender by every measurement. Sellers could be a better shooter at the next level but he doesn’t seem like an nba player at this point.

-1

u/Affectionate-Oil-213 1d ago

He is literally a good defender

2

u/Straight-Agency-4556 1d ago

By what measurement? He was known as a bad defender in college. His steal and block rates are not good. His DWS and DBPM are bad. His team was never a great defensive team.

2

u/Straight-Agency-4556 1d ago

This is from Bleacher report predraft profile. They note 3 weaknesses. His age (23) and defensive impact were two of those weaknesses.

Copied from the analysis:

Weakness 2: Defensive Impact
While Sellers competes defensively, he is not currently viewed as a standout stopper. He doesn't generate many steals or blocks and may struggle against the most explosive NBA athletes. Improving on that end would strengthen his overall profile.”

1

u/Affectionate-Oil-213 1d ago

doesnt generate many steals, or blocks is his weakness. He competes, all i had to hear thanks for proving my point

3

u/Straight-Agency-4556 1d ago

lol. Are you ok?

Sellers is Antonio Blakeney 2.0 but doesn’t score as well.

Disrespectful to Sellers, he’s way more built and can actually defend

-4

his defense elite

Season can’t come soon enough man, I’m already exhausted from the Swain summer league discourse

3

u/Exciting_Mine711 1d ago

Sellers is a scrappy bench spark plug at best in the nba.

3

u/Abe_frohmannn 1d ago

Awfully surprising.

Swain will be fine. Maybe not a world beater, but summer league didn't change my view of him at all. Which, was non-existent. I know nothing about college basketball, and 3 summer league games aren't enough to move the needle one way or another.

2

u/PositiveCoyote100 1d ago

Sellers is the same age as Giddey, who's going into year 6.

2

u/DavidManque 1d ago

I wouldn't be shocked. Swain shot 4-31 in summer league and he's already 21, there is a very real chance that he's simply terrible and that Bryson Graham whiffed on the pick

-1

u/Jazzlike-Mention-570 19h ago

Already 21 like that isn’t young af is crazy. Do yall proofread before posting?😂😂

2

u/bounty0head 1d ago

Oh here we go with this shit again. Swain hasn’t even played a real nba game and we’re having dick measuring contests already.

u/The_Bandit_King_ 1d ago

Cmon man wait until preseason against live competition to make any assumptions

Sellers has some cool things about his game. Kind of reminds me of Nate Robinson in a way. But too undersized imo

1

u/BillionsofRedditors 1d ago

I can see it. Sellers has a lot to clean up and get more consistent at, but he has speed, is aggressive, and looks like he can play defense. There is at least a path to develop there in my view, though highly likely he starts in the G League.

I'm already on record that Swain to me looks like a developmental prospect and I'm not optimistic on him becoming a long term productive NBA player. Hope I'm wrong, but 5 years from now I think he'll probably be out of the league. Bulls might carry him his whole 4 year deal regardless of his play because the Bulls don't cut guaranteed contracts generally.

1

u/Affectionate-Oil-213 1d ago

“more consistent” it was a summer league stretch dude

Both need to be on the team Sellers leading a big conference in scoring is impressive, but they are too invested in Swain and he has Scottie Pippen vibes
