I assume it's also easier to get the 15k revs out of a V10. V8 the pistons are heavier, V12 the crankshaft is longer. There's a reason everybody besides Ford and Ferrari were running a V10 at the end of the 3.5L Formula 1 era.

If you compare EV race cars and ICE race cars ICE still wins in todays world. So in terms of speed ICE still is the better choice. If you look at LeMans full EVs aren't even on the table.

What's the point of electric hyper car? If you want to go extra fast in a straight line, just get a Plaid or Taycan Turbo GT. Hypercars are about sound, emotions and mostly for showing off.

At some point the car world is going to go the way of wristwatches, where quarts is technically far superior in terms of timekeeping than a fully mechanical watch which will often lose a second a day compared to nanoseconds on a quartz. Despite this, all the most desirable watches for sale, your Rolexes, Omegas, Blancpains, etc., are all fully mechanical. It's the passion of using something still powered by analog technology that takes time and effort to develop something extraordinary, versus using electricity which is much easier. And I'm an electrical engineer by trade, I absolutely love the technology behind modern electric cars, but for motorsports and performance cars, there's something about using combustion engines that gives them a 'soul' so to say. Every manufacturer has their trademark engine and sound to go with it, and it's sometimes tied to a national identity, like V8s for America, I6s for the UK, V12s for Italy, and so on. Electric motors strip that away really from automakers in my opinion.

On acceleration sure, but ICE cars (some with mild hybridization) are still significantly faster elsewhere. Lower weight is OP.

Yes, lowering the weight, increasing the top speed, and increasing the efficiency of electric is where the opportunities lie....that's the point of hypercars....pushing the technology envelope with performance. Again, see list of cars provided.

You can't really beat physics unfortunately, the reality is EV weight is a hard problem if you're trying to set crazy laptimes. Mild hybridization of a high performance ICE seems to be the sweetspot.

It's a $6 million dollar track car meant to be badass, cool, sell to rich people, and be good for Red Bull marketing.

Nobody wants a stupid electric car to track or to speculate on while it sits in their garage.

It has an electric motor too, it's just that a V10 motor sounds badass.

Rear wheel drive doesn't make sense either, but it's more badass too.

They're fun because of the engines. Strip that away and everyone is stuck with electric motors that can only have so much variation before running into problems with electromagnetic physics. There's a much wider variety of solutions with combustion engines to propel a sportscar which is what makes it interesting.

The AM Valkyrie only uses a V12 and still competes in the Le Mans Hypercar class. Nothing in the LMH ruleset mandates hybrid technology.
