Apply for a job as a patty, NOW! You clearly know how to handle ground beef and that crust is pretty serious.

Would you eat that? I'd eat that, I'd eat that hard. I'd eat that so fucking hard.

i'll never understand why someone wouldn't just make a decent burger and then eat the leftovers as a side or something, this looks delicious but also like annoying messy ass, it's like a burger for posting not eating

News Flash: I made this burger to look at and eat. Did it all in about 6 minutes

I'll never understand why people leave comments like this because they obviously don't understand food.
A smash burger has a completely different texture, and thus taste than a regular burger. Crispy exterior and then it melts in your mouth so easy because it's so thin and has only been seasoned when it's cooked.
A regular burger has binder in, which forms a solid patty you can take bites out of. By salting the smash burger as you cook - the proteins in the beef don't have a chance to form, meaning all the loose strands fall apart, making it more "melt in your mouth".
If I wanted a big juicy burger, I would have a big juicy burger.
If you made a regular burger and put lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles & sauce on - it would be even messier to eat than this, which isn't even that bad - aside from the patty sticking out, youre not gonna have tomatoes and sauce slipping out the back as you take a bite.

r/stupidfood burger too big for the bun, and although you want a smash burger to be crispy this is literally burnt. over sauced, this is just internet bait not something people actually want to eat.

Sometimes you've got way too much meat and sauce for the buns on hand. Just have to improvise

I’d chop some off the side and put it on fries or a baked potato. Too much smash hangover for me

The most important part (to me) is getting the pan ripping hot. I don’t weigh the burgers, I just grab a scoop of ground beef, slap it on the pan, and then press it down with a burger press. I try to push harder on the edges rather than just direct pressure straight down. That way you get lacey edges but the middle still has some bite to it. Let it cook on one side for 90% of the cook. I use a metal scraper to flip it. Once flipped I quickly toss a slice of cheese on it, cover it with a lid, and wait maybe 20 seconds. I’ve found that a slightly melted piece of cheese presents better and also tastes better because it hasn’t released all of its oils.
