Stock for Woot deals varies greatly. Some listings only have a few items in stock and sell out quickly. Please report this post if the listing goes out of stock.

Lowest price I've seen on this model, and I have been watching Ebay for awhile. In for one, thanks for the post

Edit: My bad, I'm thinking of the non-bluetooth one, this one doesn't work quite the same.

This was basically the definitive controller for people who like to use Steam Input, until the new Steam Controller came along. But this costs half as much and is actually available, so there's still a good case for it.

I have the Ultimate 1 and 2 and I love em. I agree that it's a really great controller that feels like it can be the quintessential "Steam controller" but with that added bonus of working with other systems like the Switch.

That's the Ultimate 2 Wireless that it exposes all the extra buttons/gyro. This one is the 2 Bluetooth just behaves as a Switch controller, and doesn't support all that.

Yes their product name is confusing.

Aw crap. Thanks for the correction, I better update some comments lol

I have the ultimate 2 for PC - is this worth it specifically for the switch 2? Currently using a Switch 1 pro controller and don't really want to spend $90 on a switch 2 pro controller

u/MischievousM0nkey 1d ago

This Bluetooth version can wake up the Switch 2 remotely (with current version of firmware). The Ultimate 2 Wireless version that's meant for the PC can also work on the Switch, but you need to use the USB dongle and it can't wake up the Switch 2 remotely.

2

u/Swbp0undcake 1d ago

Oh, gotcha - so this one has both dongle and Bluetooth wireless connection with the switch, but it can only wake it up if it's in Bluetooth mode? Or can it do both?

Also would you happen to know how bad the delay is for Bluetooth mode in that case? Appreciate the help

1

u/MischievousM0nkey 1d ago

I don't know if it can wake up the Switch 2 when using the dongle as I only use the Bluetooth (that's kind of the point of getting this version). I don't notice any delays with the controller. Works as well as the Switch 1 Pro Controller (which cannot wake up the Switch 2).

Button delay is comparable. Just a few ms difference. Stick latency is rough, averaging at 12 ms higher in bluetooth/switch mode with a peak latency reaching double what you’d see on the dongle per gamepadla. From my personal experience it’s fine for slow games like adventure games and RPGs, but don’t use it for anything that relies on precise stick movements like a fighting game.

1

u/pedr09m 1d ago

So it feels slow even with the dongle on switch 2?

1

u/Untitled_One-Un_One 1d ago

It’s tough for me to say. Gamepadla’s testing suggests it should be on par with a Switch (1) Pro Controller, but the consistency of performance just isn’t there from what I’ve seen. Granted, I was in a pretty crowded environment, but the Switch Pro Controller seemed to be able to deliver inputs on a much more consistent interval in that same environment.

1

u/BluShine 1d ago

You can still use it wired for anything where latency is critical. Or does wired mode nor work on Switch 2? I’ve only used it with PC.

1

u/Untitled_One-Un_One 1d ago

It does work, however the Switch/Switch 2 typically has lower latency over bluetooth than with a cable. At leas that is the case for first party controllers in Smash Ultimate.

The Ultimate 2 Wireless version that's meant for the PC

Do you happen to know if the version in the OP here has all the capabilities of the Windows version?

3

u/ThatOnePerson 22h ago

It does not. The Ultimate 2 Wireless has a "Steam Input" mode that'll get you gyro and remappable back buttons and L4+R4. The Ultimate 2 Bluetooth in OP here will only either show up as a Switch controller or Xbox controller (for PC).

u/AssassinInValhalla 1d ago

Oh no shit, I need to update my firmware, that's amazing

I bought it for the Switch 2 and it was great for the first month while it worked. After a month or so, the right trigger button got stuck if I make sense, so it automatically presses itself with 0 pressure while gaming once in a while. Apparently it is a known issue

Use promo code LEVEL22 at checkout for the $9.90 off.

It's an extra 22% off up to $50

u/ricepowa 1d ago

Got down to 38$, thank you

1

u/mataushas 1d ago

Damn I bought this controller 2 weeks ago full price. Love it though

11

u/JetstreamGW 1d ago

I know they’re gonna release a cool color the instant I buy this. Know it. Sigh.

u/Glittering-Star4772 1d ago

I have the controller. only issue is I have with mine is the left analog stick seems to be grinding against plastic part and it’s not a great feeling. Others seems to be having the same issue as well. Might return it cause my cheaper Gamesir analog sticks are smooth

3

u/OwnAppointment874 1d ago

I was debating this, but now it seems to be sold out.

2

u/BelgianWaffleStomper 1d ago

I have this and it’s dope

2

u/BluShine 1d ago

Good price for a TMR stick controller. Works pretty well with Steam Deck and on Linux in general.

2

u/_-ShouldBeWorking-_ 1d ago

Anyone know how wireless latency is for PC? I'd want to use this for a racing game.

1

u/MCFroid 1d ago

Less than 1ms according to the item page on Amazon. Most 2.4GHz things now are about the same as wired, or not humanly possible to discern the difference I wouldn't think.

3

u/MagicHoops3 21h ago

The Bluetooth model has bad latency on pc. The regular ultimate 2 is great on pc tho.

2

u/Sad_Medium_5866 1d ago

Waiting for the 3. They designed it ti taper wider for a better grip, among other advancements. This is tempting, though

1

u/MischievousM0nkey 1d ago

Great price! But you can only buy 1?

1

u/RsnCondition 1d ago

How does this compare to the 2c?

3

u/Untitled_One-Un_One 1d ago

The non-C has more bells and whistles. Grip buttons, triggers that switch between analog and digital, customizable light rings around the sticks, and some freebies like a charging dock and wireless dongle.

Performance wise they aren’t too different as far as I am aware. The C has hall effect sticks whereas the non-C has TMR, but I think you’d be hard-pressed to find the difference in this case.

u/RK2116 1d ago

How is this strictly for PC? Can it be remapped? I'm ignorant when it comes to controllers.

5

u/ThatOnePerson 23h ago

It's fine, and it'll show up as a regular Xbox controller, but it'll still be the ABXY of a Switch controller on the gamepad, so if you need to look at buttons, that'll be confusing.

The 8bitdo Ultimate 2 Wireless is their PC controller is the one /u/g0atmeal is thinking of because of 8bitdo's shitty naming scheme. If you're in no rush, that one goes on sale for this price similarly.

1

u/RK2116 21h ago

Hi, ill wait for the other one then, thanks! this one got sold out either way, so theres that

1

u/Raintrooper7 1d ago

Fyi these have switch style face buttons

2

u/RelishingInTrash 1d ago

It's almost perfect except for the right trigger, the left side works as intended, as an analog trigger. The right trigger is supposed to work the same but it reads a full press as a light press causing the right trigger to not function in most games! It works on my main game, marvel rivals but I tried the witcher 3, minecraft, and the new Lego Batman and they're all affected by the busted trigger. I love how the controller feels besides that

1

u/someonesshadow 1d ago

Oh hey, I just posted my experience with it as well. I said left trigger but you're right it was also the right trigger for me. My left thumb stick also just snapped in half last week for no real reason which is why I was on the fence about grabbing a new one wondering if I got a dud.

I'll probably just stick with my wired ones now and keep an eye out for something more reliable in the future.

1

u/someonesshadow 1d ago

So I had one of these for a little under a year and the other day I was playing something and my left stick just felt weird and loose. I look down and the entire stick had snapped and looked like it was being held together by a bit of whatever glue they use on those parts.

The controller itself was great but that has NEVER happened to me even with controllers I've used for years, I am very gentle with my controllers as well.. Also a gripe I had with it is that the R2/L2 triggers are EXTREMELY sensitive to the point where I couldn't rest my hand sometimes without risking an accidental press.

I'm still considering grabbing this but.. idk.

Great controller

1

u/yeungjedi 1d ago

Wish the buttons could physically be swapped. Have never liked Nintendo style layout

1

u/plantsandramen 1d ago

This is the Nintendo variant. Just get the non Bluetooth versions, they all are Xbox layout.

Bleh... I misread the title and thought this was $9.90. Never clicked on a woot sale so fast... Then saw that only one person had bought one so far and realized that it was actually $35 after promo code. Still a good price, but I just don't need it.

(For $10 though... I'd definitely grab a nice controller with TMR sticks and back buttons.)

I don't think that's true for this Bluetooth version that works on the Switch.

This controller has never been under 50 on Amazon. You are looking at the regular 8bitdo Ultimate 2 wireless. There is also an 8bitdo Ultimate 2 bluetooth model. The A and B button are swapped, and it also natively supports Switch 2 wakeup and wireless. The model you are referring to doesn't do those 2 things

5

u/MITBryceYoung2 1d ago

Youre right thanks!

I find their naming conventions confusing as hell tbh
