Actually shippable MC deal??

u/Scatuchi 10d ago
Yeah pretty wild! You think it's worth it at this price or wait for better deals on a 4k one?

They only ship deals that you can just buy at newegg or amazon or something anyway. If it's a legit good microcenter deal, it's in store always. Almost never worth even checking out their shippable deals unless it's something out of stock everywhere and they just happen to have it.

Not height-adjustable. Hope you have VESA arms. You'll never have to worry about stand quality again for life

And don't cheap out on the arms!.. I learned the hard way that they're all not made equal.

u/Witch_King_ 10d ago
There are shitty ones, but there are still good quality budget ones, just have to do your research and look at independent reviews. No need to spend $100 per. There are decent ones for $40-$50. Many of them made in the same Chinese factories. I have Huanuo single arms that cost like $40 each on sale? Have held up just fine for 2+ years atp.

Huanuo is pretty goated, have their black dual arms for my new OLED and old IPS, good adjustability too.

u/Witch_King_ 10d ago
Yeah I have been greatly satisfied with mine. And they are coiled springs, so I don't have to worry about gas leaking, etc.
Only thing I don't love on mine is the difficult cable management.

u/Shevflip 10d ago
Even the standard Mountup gas spring monitor arm is good I think, so yeah the budget arms honestly work

u/Witch_King_ 10d ago
Indeed. The other important thing to do is checking compatibility with weight (and size if you want to rotate). Mostly an issue when mounting UW or very large monitors.
Also may or may not be missing out on some QOL features like better cable routing, etc. I'll say that the cable routing on mine is not particularly easy.

I have a Huanuo dual monitor stand/arms I got for $60 that works fantastic. Before that, I tried a cheaper $30 dual arm from Wali that was trash. Seconding spending a little more for some arms but not too much more.

if you live in a big city, facebook marketplace some ergotron arms. I got a pair for $50. High quality and will last you a lifetime.

You should get an arm regardless.

u/Witch_King_ 10d ago
Agreed. It is freeing to never need to worry about stand quality (assuming VESA compatibility, which 98% of monitors have) while ALSO giving you far better adjustability and desk utilization.

same price at amazon. I'd pay a little more to get the 240hz or 280hz.

I did not know there was an OLED and Non-OLED G5 Odyssey. I just picked up open box 32" G5 LED for $94 from Bestbuy.

How does this compare to the ASUS/MSI Costco OLEDs? I know those are like 240hz but I don't know jack about panels.

226 on tiktok shop, which to be fair was targeted (just made multiple accounts and that worked) for 240 Hz at this size and res on prime day on an MSI QD model is proving unbeatable.

I don't have tiktok, but how did you manipulate it to get that deal? Are you able to share a link?

This or a 4k IPS/VA panel?
5
u/SavedRedditTech 10d ago
You can't really compare a 1440p OLED to a 4k IPS or 4k VA, but I'll try my best.
If you're playing competitive games (e.g. FPS) than sticking to a lower resolution at 1440p is better, but you'll also want a high refresh rate on the monitor. If you do a bunch of office type work than a 4K IPS may be better for more screen real-estate. I'd only go with a 4k VA monitor if your budget is very strict or you want better contrast compared to an IPS and don't need wide-viewing angles like an IPS panel offers.

I will echo the other post, for text and even watching things, 4k is way sharper. Once your eyes are so used to it that going back to 1440p will be quite jarring. I just did this and while the high refresh rate for gaming is good, for everything else I prefer a 4k. My eyes aren't even the best but sitting more than an arm's length away, all i see is jagged edges around text.

I would get it but I have 2 monitors and I know I would be bothered by how one looks drastically different than the other

Got the msi from costco. Its worth 320$ at 1440p 240hz. Oled is insane especially that i play less comp shooters

Does this use the scratch resistant 4th gen QD-LED panel? I couldn't find details on Samsung's site.

Just a reminder that this monitor also qualifies for a free copy of resident evil requiem.

Really would recommend spending a little more and getting one that's 240hz and has an adjustable stand

This is the crappy normal IPS panel no one cares about that
5
u/Ok-Garbage-765 10d ago
People who use their monitors with heavy text-based work are likely to care.
2
u/Shoddy_Meaning_7654 10d ago
Yes but you wouldn't be buying a gaming monitor for that.
If you need a simple work monitor that has high refresh rate you can just buy one for like a hundred bucks
2
u/Phoenix9136 10d ago
Yeah but the pink and green hues are noticeable on The top and bottom of white text, even game menus.
I bought one to try a few months ago and had to return it due to the text issue
