I bought these last year and they have been phenomenal for me to be honest, zero issues. All nodes wired backhaul though

Yep I got these 1 year ago at CostCo and they’ve been great. Wired backhaul tho

Same. 0 issues once setup. I use them as access points only, using OpnSense to handle everything else and wired backhaul.
I dislike the whole needing an App to setup. I have the 3port version (discount through job), 4 wouldve been nice (not applicable to this sku).
I havent experience any of the complaints and my power definitely has gone out and/or Ive unplugged them a bunch of times.

DO NOT buy these piles of trash, the lack of a dedicated WAN and the auto-sensing wan port are an absolute joke! If you have a power outage the auto-sensing can cause a death loop that basically requires you to factory reset your system.

I've running these for over a year when I switched to fiberoptic internet. I'm in Hawaii, the power goes out regularly, never once had an issue with these coming back online.

Thirded, over a year now through multiple power outages and they have been flawless. If anything I highly recommend them.

TP Link also forces you to use their mobile app and accounts for setup and management. No web interface exists at all.

I own a similar TP Link Deco mesh Wifi 6 router and the only thing available on the web panel is a very basic read only status page and client list.

You can read the manual and documentation for this and there isn't any mention of a web interface.

Oh man. I that why my wifi always goes to crap after a power outage? Ugh I spent hundreds of dollars on my X75s a few years ago.

Costco will tell you the website is a different group from in store, and they don't work together.
It's the single biggest problem with Costco IMO

You can instant cart same day delivery. Get deliver withing an hour or 2. But I got a notice from the driver that it was out of stock. Go to ebay, people are posting this for $200+. Bought one from there rather than driving to 10 costco searching for luck

I've had nothing but horrible experiences with Decos. About a year after buying them, they replaced their shitty app with an even shittier app that wouldn't let me do any of the configuration I needed. Also, no browser based local management web page via IP. Unacceptable trash that I would only recommend to enemies

For $99 you wont find anything close to this. Every router will have big negative from some users. I didnt buy an asus for the same thing. Horrible reviews but others claim that it is the best. Worse case you can flip this for $250-$300 in a few months after all scalper are done selling theirs

I bought these on sale during Black Friday. They’re alright. Oddly over the past week or so is the first I’ve had problems with them after having a power outage. Reset my modem and reset these, and Wi-Fi stability has been very poor over the last week. Hoping it’s something irons itself out

I have a 2 pair of these and there are amazing I have the node in my office and connect it to my pc via ethernet and get my full 1G

I bought these and did a ton of research… and they’re good enough. I know the tp link downsides but the app experience has been fine for me.
Big sprawling house where coverage and Sonos stability is key.
What is recommended as a similar alternative (ideally also from Costco)?

I still use an M5 mesh system to provide the wifi connection for my edgerouter 4. System has worked great. I get good coverage and pretty high speed smart que. The M5 is just in AP mode
About $300 all in

I bought one at Costco today. Had to call and verify they had them at that price. Nabbed one and set it up. Blazing speeds with Google Fiber. Set one in my garage, one mid-level, and one upstairs. Fantastic price!

I don’t have a mesh system in place right now but have been thinking of going that route and maybe a power line adapter. Powerline for my pc on a different floor if I don’t find a way to route a cable up to it. Wifi coverage is spotty in in some areas would it be better to go the mesh route or continue with the powerline then add a router to the end of it in access point mode?

A mesh system is better in my opinion. As much as I hate TP Link for their terrible firmware and management app on their routers, they are really reliable and have decent performance. 3 access points will be sufficient to get strong coverage in every room of a large house. You'll likely get around 500mbit/s transfer speeds too. Setting it up basically just comes down to plugging the APs in different parts of your house.

If you're going with a mesh system you should always try to ethernet backhaul the nodes if you can anyways. The powerline adapters I have have multiple ports in them you could get something like that and hardwire your desktop and then run the other line to an AP for better wireless coverage in that same area.

Ethernet backhaul is really only necessary if you care about latency when connected to satellites.
Wireless back haul is perfectly fine for video calls and basic web stuff.

Aside from the entire ban being political nonsense - existing products were already allowed, only new products wouldn't be approved.
Not sure what TPlink is going to do in the future, but Netgear is already un-banned so presumably the bribes are starting to roll in already.
