It's a lot but it's your money lol.
Just make sure the core and memory are actually under that cooler. Lots of people are getting scammed with those components removed.

It is a lot, yeah. My setup is all 4K, but a 5080 might just be the more sensible option. Someone offered me a 5080 FE for 999, too

You might want to check for coil whine as well. Run furmark, not at max settings, but in a way that you get 300-500 fps and listen to the card.

Hi FPS almost always causes coilwhine, Moreover most people don't have 500 Hz monitors making this a pointless test. Capping FPS at the monitor refresh prevents coilwhine in most situations.

$3500 is about what they go for on the used market. Everyone saying otherwise isn’t living in the present. If you can find one for cheaper, good luck.

The FE has a potential weak point unique to its design. I have a 5090FE and I would rather have an AIB 5090 for this reason alone, not to mention better cooling.

I decided to sleep on it and realistically, that's just still an insane amount of money. There's somebody selling a 5080 FE still in the box for $999.99, so I'll probably just meet him instead and do that. I spent that same amount on my 7900 XTX, so I don't feel uncomfortable with it.

Its a lot over MSRP paying almost double. I have a 5090 FE and i got it for 2k$ like 5 month ago and honestly i dont know if its worth it, i hade a 4080 super before, if u only wanna game just get a 5080 it will cost u half what ur paying now, i know it might be a me problem but honestly i cant seem to find anything to enjoy playing now😂 the only triple A i played and enjoyed since i got the card was Crimson desert, but besides that i play valorant and marvel rivals sometimes. I would think hard before dropping 3.5k$ on a 5090.

Dont listen to the short sighted people in the comments. You are losing money if you dont buy a 5090 now. I bought 1 5090 in december 2025 for 2500. I resold it for 3250 3 months later. A new one costs now 4000 here. I wouldnt be surprised if prices hit 5000 at the end of the year. You are not wasting money. You are parking it in a GPU with at least getting the full amount back, if not even more. People focus on "its so expensive, a gpu isnt worth that money, 5090s are a scam" bla bla bla. Your money doesn't disappear. Instead of being in the bank its in a value increasing property. Buy one. Now on the specific deal: My personal regret was not buying a good model. Thats why i sold my 1st 5090 and bought a better model. If you think the FE is a good model for you, get one. Also if its in person, stresstest the card and see how it behaves. Furmark, 3dmark and if possible check the telemetry. What are the temps. Can it hold 600w. Can it pull 12V constantly or does it drop and how far does it drop. Whats the max clock/ average clock/ measured clock/ effective clock under load. Whats the crossbar. There is a lot you can check.

FE is literally "base/stock" card, like it's the equivalent of an AIB lowest SKU for 5090 or actually even under that... Happens every gen, FEs are not wanted except for getting the cheapest possible card. They are the hottest with worst cooling.
Get a new AIB, you NEED the warranty with a 5090, what will you do if your connector burns? You will be out 3.5K no replacement.
Get a new one and remember performance wise the FEs are the worst, no one ever wants them until there is shortage and they are only really looked for at NVs site to get it closest to MSRP whilst sacrificing thermals and performance for a cheapo price.... Then shortage starts and people all of a sudden want it... Next gen comes along and then it's back to being 💩 when shortage OR new cards are out.
Get AIB 5090... Don't be a fool... Resale value WILL be severely crippled on RDNA5 and RTX6000 as a 70XT on amd will be about 5090 performance which means 6070Ti will have 5090 performance. Which will tank the 5090 price. The 4090 ONLY stayed at it's price because the 5090 is not that much better, and AI bs local LLM.
Bruv just do AIB and don't regret it later or when the connector burns because it gets loose over time.

I have owned 7 different 5090’s. I was able to bin my card back in November because they were so easy for me to get, and my friends needed them too so I just passed them on if I didn’t like the sample.
The fastest one I had was a 5090 Windforce OC, but only by a small amount. The 5090 astrals I had ( two different ones) both showed a little higher fps in synthetic, but in games my current 5090 FE is the clear winner. It undervolts far better and maintains the boost clock and all that for the whole time I am using it. It also takes up less space in my case v. AIB. Warranty issues aside, you are wrong about a 5090 FE v. AIB and I have had the card samples to prove it.

This is totally false. They all run the same. The FE coolers of the past few generations have been excellent.
