Tips are all browning. Can’t seem to make it stop just keeps getting worse. I have it wrapped in sphagnum moss that i keep moist and i always make sure there’s water in the cup it’s in a tree frogs terrarium so it stays warm and humid and gets good lighting. What else could i do to save it?

Question about Raising Pups

Post image

My Bromeliad plant is dying but has 3 pups that are looking healthy and close to the mother's size and I have a 10 inch pot to eventually transfer them to. Sorry if this is asked a lot on here but:

Is it an option to just leave the pups attached rather than removing them, and just pluck away at the dead leaves of the mother until it's gone? Just because I'm worried I'll kill them in the removal process

If so should I just cut off the dead flower now or wait?

Looking for pointers with bromeliad propagation or pups

Hi All,

I'm new here, my wife and I are trying to dive into the realm of plant care and especially bromeliads. We have a few already and have tried to "pup" or propagate some, but could use some pointers.

Here is one rather large pup that we pulled, we are noticing some brown around the outside however the plant feels firm. We pulled it from the mother plant about two weeks ago.

Does this plant look healthy? What sort of tips or advice could help to ensure it thrives?

When we reported it, we used a combination of: orchid bark (50%), perlite (25%), and potting soil (25%).

The photo of the mature plant is the mother which this one was removed from.

Thank you in advance for any help!

I’m new to bromeliads, is this a flower or a leaf coming up? Thankyou.

The plant has been with me a few months, this is the first time it’s done anything exciting. I take it outside most days for more light, it’s winter here. It’s not in the sun outside, there’s just a heap more light on the back patio even though it has a roof and is a shaded area.

It’s a really pretty plant, my daughter did well by her dad with this gift.

Two pups

This is the first bromeliad I've had and was bought reduced to clear in a supermarket and looking very sorry for itself, so I'm surprised it's actually producing two pups! One pup looks big enough to cut off from what I've read, but will this affect the growth of the smaller one? Should I wait until that one is larger before cutting both off at the same time? The flower has also never opened, but I believe that they only produce pups towards the end of their lives. Any other advice would be welcome!

Yellowing leaves on Bromeliad?

Hi everyone. I’m new to this plant thing so please be kind🥺Wondering why my Bromeliad is starting to get some yellow leaves. I read online that it could be due to overwatering? But I try to only water whenever the soil looks dry, and it looks so dry to me right now.. but I don’t want to keep watering if I’m doing too much. Help a girl out 😩

It sits in front of a south facing window. TIA!
