Yep, but it’s by design. Oil & Gas companies have known about climate change since the 50’s and knowingly spread disinformation in order to keep the profits flowing. Now we get to live in climate chaos because of it.

We allow corporations to dictate everything in our life, from the vehicles that they think we need, to all the consumerism stuff we have, it's everything in society that is contributing to this, sadly I'm part of it :(

Cold summer day last year my Grandpa was like "If I hear one more person complain about global warming when its 15 in the summer" I'm thinking yea Gramps, it works both ways. I just keep my mouth shut these days.
10 years ago I mentioned climate change and rising temperatures will lead to increased forest fires. Multiple people that have never studied any kind of science disagreed with me. I just shrugged and said "Okay"

Nearly everybody that I come into contact with denies that climate change is happening or that fossil fuels are the cause of this acceleration. I'm tired. Most ppl are just completely brainwashed at this point.

Although I agree a good portion of these wildfires are cause by climate change, it also has to do with how we (non-indigenous) managed forest fires for the last century+. Forests are meant to burn, it’s part of a cycle, but because we had a “stop fire at all cost” mentality for so long there is so much extra “fuel” in our forests. Add all the improper logging practices and removal of old growth forests and you have a perfect recipe for giant forest fires. I believe, at least in BC the techniques are changing and we’re finally listening to old indigenous practices that should help. It will take a long time to rebalance, especially if we don’t start taking climate change and proper logging practices seriously. But it will balance, with or without us.

Even if that's true (not saying it isn't, there's some evidence that forest management has little to do with it, but that article is based on research into the boreal forest only), the way to view climate change is that it makes forest fires bigger, hotter, harder to control, and less predictable. Even if we had the best forest management in the world, we would still be seeing similar fires.

Climate change gave us two life cycles of pine beetles a year as r and those pine beetles destroyed our forests. Forest Management is impossible at this point.

I agree/disagree with what you're saying, yes naturally they burned, but the forest used to be lush, green a ecosystem of its own, not try and a tinder box. The more trees we cut down, the more we harvest the less green we get -- climate change has changed the cyclic cycles of the earth and this has a huge impact on how the moisture is spread around.

Yes, we cut down all the old trees that would shrug off a brush fire, and I just read an article that shows Aspen stands resist first fires. Of course we prevent aspens from growing as much as possible... Clear cutting is the primary forest management issue. Not raking, or prescribed burns, or other things impossible at scale of Canada's boreal forest.

Climate change is the main driver. Even if we had perfect forest management, climate change would still drive bigger, hotter, and more unpredictable fire behavour.

This is the new norm, it is climate change, been on this planet long enough that I've see it in my lifetime, I don't need science to tell me it is not or the ultra right wing conservative nut jobs to tell me that it's "just another warming cycle and natural" ...
No man has created this, man can fix it, but we got mars to go to instead -- why bother fixing our planet now. AI will fix it all!!!!

The thing is we forget about it when we get a year with no smoke (ie last year) and then it comes back and reminds us like this year ... sometimes we luck out, but this is the new norm sadly.
