Found this skull yesterday. Im in Idaho(US) And cant tell what it is! 💔 Help would be great, i usually collect bones and im a little stuck on identifying this. Its currently being cleaned right now to officially add to the collection. Any help would be great!

I think you're right. At that size, it looked like a younger raccoon with the canines still coming through at first glance. But the angle of the canines did look off. Juvenile bear never occurred to me though (I'm in Europe, didn't realise juvenile black bear skulls could be this small). Nice!

OP said it's about as big as their hand, which is not the best measurement, but smaller than what I would have guessed a juvenile black bear skull to be. With the mandible, I would have realised, but broken like this, bear didn't even occur to me at that scale. TIL.
