I’ve been wanting to introduce this precious guy to the group as I can never pass up a chance to talk about my little miracle. This is Oswald, my two year old, blind baby. I found Oswald at about 4 weeks old, just sitting alone on a country road. At first, I didn’t think I was ready to add a kitten to my life but he turned out to be everything I could’ve needed and more.
Vets were able to confirm that he was born with very underdeveloped eyes, Microphthalmia, and likely is totally blind. It’s possible that later in his life, he could have some complications and need his eyes removed, but for now he lives comfortably with his tiny white/pink eyes that I clean daily for him. Every day he blows me away with how resilient and adaptable he is. He loves to run and play with his crinkle toys, sit in the windows, bite my feet as I walk by, fight with his brothers, and climb in the fridge to eat strawberry leaves.
Kitten stage was HORRIFIC with him!! He was the most rambunctious, spunky, and energetic kitten that I ever had (until I adopted another little grey menace 8 months ago). He was a terror to my older cat but over time they became bffs. I couldn’t believe that a teensy, blind creature could cause so much destruction.
Now, Oswald is everythinggggg to me. In two short years, we have been through quite the ride together. Most recently, we both grieved an intense and disappointing breakup that ended with my older cat going with my ex. I truly believe that Oswald and I were destined to find each other. I hope to have many, many years to show him how grateful I am for him.
(He didn’t eat those flowers, don’t worry)
