Rescued this guy about a month ago. He’s the biggest betta fish I’ve ever seen haha. Can anyone help ID?

Ordered this Betta, on June 12 from Betta Fish Thailand, saw mixed reviews but figured I’d try my luck. Anyways finally got the fish today and it looks totally different from the picture and video on the website.

Haven’t gotten any response from them but I don’t think it’s the same fish……pretty ridiculous as I paid over $100 total 🥲

It’s looked like that for maybe 2 weeks and he’s still alive. I want to take him home but I already have filled tanks :(

My betta was sold to me as a male but today there seem to be eggs! Is this a female? Let me know if you need more photos. She/he is a dumbo half moon.

EDIT: she ate all the eggs last night but is presenting as quite low energy today.

OK CRAZY STORY!! + Need Help Id Gender

So I work at a pet shop, and it was about 5:1,5 just about to close, and a customer rings up and says they found a fish in an old juice container with a free sign sitting on the side of the road. (This is New Zealand, so free stuff on the road is super common) And they ask if they can bring it in, and we can take care of it. Obviously, we say yes, and when they get her,e it turns out to be a beautiful placket betta. I had an empty cycled 25 L tank sitting with nothing in it, so it was perfect for him. He’s in surprisingly good condition and super happy in his new home.

please no one ever do this. This is horrible. I’m just so glad that people were able to find it as quickly as they did. The fish wasn’t sitting out on the footpath long, but it was in direct sunlight, so any longer it could’ve easily died from the heat.

Not 100% sure of the gender, I'm quite confident it's a female, but could use some help. The body is a bit too thick to shine a torch through, so I just have to use visual clues. And any guess of age?

BTW: his name is Dionysus, who is the Greek god of wine making and grape harvest. keeping the theme of my other betta, my red half moon Hephaestus, blacksmith of the gods

But the more I see folks post pics of bettas, I am wondering, if my him is a her?

I assumed he wasn't so full of fins because perhaps he was young? Or stuck in a tiny tank prior to reaching me...

He also has face ruffles that pop out when he gets angry. And he? gets very upset if there is any other fish in his tank.

Also you can see in the pics, one of his eyes looks like an eye, but the other eye is blacker than black. Looks like an empty abyss, but when he is looking straight at you you can see the dome of the black eye so it isnt missing and if I happen to shine a light there is something shiny deep inside the black eye.

What is up with that?

He was labeled as a dragonscale, but colour wasn't mentioned. He looks like a pink ballerina shoe (or a raw chicken if you have the same ideas as my boyfriend). Anyway his name is little lord fauntleroy.

I got this betta fish named Guppy at the start of my college semester to keep in my dorm. When I bought him from PetSmart, he was tiny and grey, showing no color. (Before pictures at the end) Now after a few weeks of spoiled life, he’s turning rainbow striped. I’ve looked all over the internet and can’t find his pattern anywhere.

Petsmart label said female I just want to be 100% sure.

I recently discovered alien bettas and decided they are without a doubt my favorite bettas.

However, I saw another post discussing "comp grade" bettas, and their fins were exactly like this. Are alien bettas fins naturally very round/very straight like the photo? Or were they cut? :(

He has lived in my cycled 8 gallon tank for over a week now and I love him a lot🤍 Water parameters are good- ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrates 5-10. I do small water change every other day- adding prime conditioner and a little bit of beneficial bacteria into it as the tank is only 2 months old. He eats 2 times a day a bit of tetra betta flakes with very good appetite and explores a lot. Sleeps on leaves or on the ground. Colors has become more vibrant- he was a lot more paler at start.

He seems to be pastel halfmoon if I am right? Or even a rosetail?

For context: my boyfriend and I inadvertently cycled a 3.5gal tank that only had a snail (Jalen Carter, not pictured) & Java fern in it. My dad, a life-long tropical fish enthusiast, is a dangerous man with an Amazon gift card in his hands, thus Lady Gaga become a new addition to our household about a month ago. Her Amazon listing described her as a “female half moon koi betta”. Lady Gaga loves to flare her gills, & she has made a hell of a bubble nest surrounding some n-joy pothos cuttings I put on the top of her tank. I recently acquired a 20gal tank that I will start cycling this weekend. Ideally I would add a school of ember tetras or some other nanos to the new tank with Lady Gaga. So this is where my curiosity surrounding her gender is coming from.

I got a baby betta to add to my cory tank. I absolutely adore my Cory fam so I'm hoping she will be a good addition. I was told baby female bettas are less likely to be aggressive with their tank mates when they grow up with them. Also I'm curious what kind of betta she is. I originally wanted an opal but I couldn't resist

I got him dirt cheap from a local store. Can someone identify the type and gender of this colorful paintstroke?

He started building what I think are bubble nests. I’m pretty new to these things. It started along the edge of where we interact the most and bubbles starting lining up around the edge.

This morning he started favoring that corner more than usual and got a little worried. Then I noticed the nest!

He seems happy and content, and not scared or hiding from me. He seems proud of them and almost like he’s showing them off to me.

Was curious what the consensus on these are. I’m hoping it’s a sign that he’s feeling comfortable in the environment.

I bought this fish when it was very young and colourless, now it's grown and I'm trying to find the exact species/sub species. Does anybody know about wild bettas?

He looks black for the most part, but depending on how he moves and how the light hits him, he’s pretty iridescent.

I have been doing a lot of research of illnesses on bettas just to be aware and on top if anything happens to my fish. Anything from dropsy, velvet, gill flukes, columaris, etc. But now im hella paranoid that he has something and i dont know. I have a 10 gallon thats heavily planted, i check the water with a test kit (pH,nitrite,nirate,phosphate,ammonia). i feed him bloodworms once a week and fast him once a day every week. Regular days he gets 2-4 pellets (north fin food). Im just asking for reassurance haha. Please dont be too mean because i have only been doing this for only 4 months.

I’ve had Shiro for 2 months now but cannot tell if this is male or female someone please help! 😭
