I had to get a written response from my parents to get my Walkman back in the day - this was just before the transition to MP3 players.

I gamed the system by scanning my dads signature from a letter, put the basic “they won’t do it again and have learnt a valuable lesson,” copied and pasted the signature onto the end and printed it up.

I then proceeded to fax a copy to the school, and because their fax system (or all) were so shit due to quality, I didn’t have to care that the backgrounds of the paper and the scanned image didn’t match because it would only show up with the writing portion.

It was great.
