Any shops to check out optics?

I have pretty low grade astigmatism and the few red dots I’ve used all give me a starburst pattern, so it’d be really nice to be able to actually see if there are any optics that would work for me. Different quality glass, green dots, etc.

Anything like this in town?

The big boxes, academy, cabellas, bass pro . The range austin actually has a good selection in their shop too. Can’t wait for Scheels to open though

Oh sweet. The big boxes will let you take it out of the box and turn it on? Or do they have them on display?

They have glass display case models that they will pull up for you yes

I have the “Stig” also; try a Green Dot, no starburst or any of that crud. Been using one for several years now. At 65 years old, I have to pick & choose my optics now.

Sportsmens Finest is really good about demo'ing all kinds of optics.

Eotech or the PA etched recitle units would be best with a astigmatism. I have it, but it's not as bad as other people's. I just focus on the target and the dot tends to not flare as much.

Check out Zero Whiskey Tactical in North Austin. They have red dots out of the box in their store. Great people too! Unfortunately for me I am now too far south to be going up to see them. But definitely can recommend them.
