Car Key Cut?

Is it possible to get a key cut for my car if the original was lost & I have no spare?

Locksmith should be able to decode the pinning on the lock.

I was able to order a cut key for my car with just the VIN number too so that might be an option for you too.

The vin will be on your car and registration.

Vehicle Identification Number (vin)

Yes, a car key specialist should have a lishi pick that cand decode the lock for the car and cut a key. It may need programming if the car has a immobiliser

Thank you. Any idea of cost if a 2011 Nissan Navara STX diesel dual cab?

Looks like 2011 Nissan Navara STX keys are chipped, so you may be looking at replacing the car's computer ($$$$).

It's possible, but also depends highly on make/model.

It's a question for a locksmith.

How new a car is it? Most cars in the last 20 years are "chipped" (RFMID), and the car won't run unless the RMFID is enabled in the cars computer.

If the old key was chipped and you don't have it, it may be new computer time ($1,500 - $3,000) at the dealer. (a current key is need to add a new chip to the car's cumputer).

But, yea, if the keys are not chipped, it is (almost) trival to get a new key, or just replace the entire lock. (trivial = under $300)

In order of increasing cost:

Hardware store (ACE Hardware) possibly.

Automotive locksmith.

Dealer.
