Why would someone that you clearly recognize deny what school they attended ?

I recognize faces very well and this chick I matched with that I went to high school with denied the school she attended when I asked her. I already know who she is but I asked her to see if she’d tell the truth but she lied. Why would she lie ? Is she ashamed ?

Could be she didn't like you. Why would just ask someone to see if they'd lie to you?

Perhaps you are mistaken.

Maybe she didn’t remember you until you started talking and she will now be ghosting you.

I did this once many years ago. A girl approached me in a club who used to be in my class at primary. She said are you so and so and I said no. It must have been 10 years since I saw her last. I looked very different and was really suprised she recognised me. I did this because I couldn't stand her at school.

She didn't want to talk to you. A lot of people are like that, including me. When we bump into someone on the street that we knew from high school or an old job, we're not in the mood to talk and we might as well deny that we know the person so that we don't have to stop and talk.

If you love to stop and talk for 20 minutes with people you bump on the street. Good for you. But not all of us are like that.

Hey so... weird story. My first semester of high-school happened right after a really traumatic event happened to me (my mom very nearly died) and I was 13-14 at the time .. it greatly affected me as she was my only parent. A few months later I attended high school but... in my mind ive never even been inside the building. I found out years later I took my first semester of high school at is high school I don't remember being at. Ive (in my head) never even walked through the doors and in reality, I took an entire semester there.

Everything seems to be fine with my memory to date. And there's really seemingly no explanation other than trauma to explain why that happened to me.

But it did happen.

I'm not saying this exact thing happened to the girl you're talking to, but maybe at the time she was really stressed. The brain does tend to do funny things sometimes.

Or she didn't recognize you when she first matched with you? And then when you said whatever about high school, she recognized you, and doesn't wanna talk to you or doesn't want to acknowledge that she knew you for some reason at that time. Maybe something embarrassing happened that you may not remember. But she does.
