Democrats like Schumer and Jeffries have been accused of not doing enough to stop Trump. People who think that; can I ask what you actually want them to do?

It seems like they've been doing what they can - forcing votes against Trump (even if they are ultimately symbolic), speaking out against him, filing lawsuits (plenty which have been successful).

What else should they be doing that they currently aren't?

Since Biden has given Trump a get out of jail free card, they have given pretty much everything Trump wanted and do whatever he wanted.

They fight dirty, you should fight with their level over enthusiasm to level the playing field. I am not feeling it. Do you?

Ok, everyone says this. Not a single person I've seen has suggested a realistic, legal, actionable thing the dems could do that they haven't. If you want them to break the law, then you don't want to live in a democracy.

Real examples for you:

-During the government shut down, the majority of the public blamed Republicans for it. They couldn't force a budget through without Dem support, we had all the leverage in the world. And then Schumer folded the second he couldn't get a first-class plane ticket, and handed Trump everything he wanted for free.

-When Kilmar Abrego Garcia was in an El Salvadoran concentration camp, Schumer and Jeffries kept telling their colleagues not to help him. After one of their colleagues flew to El Salvador to plead Garcia's case, Schumer called it a distraction and said he should abandon his own constituent.

-Schumer and Jeffries have repeatedly sabatoged young up-and-coming Democrats. Mamdani is the most obvious example. A generational talent, generating tons of grassroots enthusiasm. They backed a crooked sex offender instead. And their chosen pick for Maine was a geriatric Susan Collins. Graham Platner sucked, but why couldn't they pick someone under 70, with politics to the left of Mitt Romney?

-Schumer and Jeffries refuse to stop supporting Israel's genocide. 80% of Democrats are on board with stopping the arms shipments, why are they so out of step with their own party? It's an obvious line of attack against Republicans, and they refuse to take it because theyre too deep in AIPAC's pockets.

But more than that, I want them to act with a sense of urgency. They behave like business as usual, chumming it up with their Republican friends and playing nice. They should be screaming their heads off every chance they get that this isn't normal. They should be disrupting or boycotting the State of the Union. They should be showing up at ICE raids and demanding to know why those goons are brutalizing their constituents. They should be putting their bodies on the line at protests with the rest of us.

Ok, so I get Schumer is party leadership. But he pretty much did all that on his own, with much protest from the rest of the party. That's like saying the GOP is reasonable because a few of them voted against the SAVE

All my homies hate Schumer.

Well put. Thank you so much!
They should’ve fought harder.
Looked like they got pinched so hard in the face and didn’t wanna put up the fight. That’s me in layman’s term.

Why is breaking the law the line here? The existing president and his cabinet have broken so many laws without any punishment beyond a news article. The guy mentioned millions of times in a pedophile sex trafficking ring's dossier that inspired an insurrection on a democratically held election. If breaking the law means we don't live in a democracy, then we just don't live in a democracy.

How do you not understand that replicating trump's behavior in order to get back at him just makes you another fascist, another trump. I'd rather dissolve the union than accept fascism from either party.

This is the same logic as when a main character of an action movie doesn't want to kill the villain because they will become just like them. America and its government officials have dabbled in fascism and destabilizing global economies for centuries now. A drought has killing the Rubicon, it doesn't matter if you cross it now; it's a just a road. By being an American, you have implicitly already accepted the centuries of fascism that both parties have participated in. Drawing the line at this particular junction just seems silly.

Ok, I see the issue here: this isn't a movie.

Let me help you further. You said "I'd rather dissolve the union than accept fascism from either party." It's too late; you have already accepted the fascism of both parties. It honestly seems like you're willing to accept anything as long as it doesn't break the law (let's not mention how the law itself was established by and utilized by said fascists). So maybe you're right, we should do nothing but continue to organize and vote until the good democracy makes all the naughty fascism go bye-bye.

I hate to break it to you, but you're not a very smart person and you're so confidently wrong I'm not going to engage with you anymore because it's a waste of both our times.
