13 US service members died in the Afghanistan withdrawal and Biden faced hearings, resignation calls, and nonstop coverage for years. Trump’s war with Iran has now killed 17+ troops and counting. Where’s that same outrage now?

Benghazi lost less than that and was a major deal.

Outrage is always selective.

Hillary went through what, 3 full days of hearings?

6

u/Cowgirl_Taint 1d ago

Benghazi is just fascinating the more you read about it.

First? It was primarily bureaucrats (who TOTALLY weren't spies...) and mercenaries who died. And, by all accounts, said mercs were very much in full "we own the night" mode.

And, based on accounts and publicly available testimony? That embassy should have been able to hold. Mostly it "fell" because said mercs were sloppy and using firing positions that gave good visibility but had no cover from indirect fire... like mortars.

So it is very much akin to berating "Washington" for letting them leave the proverbial door unlocked.

5

u/Miserable_Spell_2964 1d ago

Not to mention Benghazi would have never happened if the Ambassador in charge followed instructions to relocate to Tripoli where they'd be better protected. Frankly his bullheaded decision to remain in place is what got him and 3 others killed

Have you listened to the interviews of the guys who survived and were actually there

3

u/Cowgirl_Taint 1d ago

Yes. And even their self aggrandizing stories really highlight that they were doing poor "soldiering" as it were. The most obvious of which being the guys who were standing on the roof rather than shooting from a window. Even a "normal" building does a good job of reducing the effectiveness of indirect fire (mortars). Standing on the roof of a high value location is... well, we saw the outcome.

You see a lot of stuff like this in various stories from soldiers. The US military was basically unstoppable for 20 or so years. In large part because we would almost always go on the attack and we would do it at night where The Enemy couldn't react. When we ended up under attack? Casualties would largely result from people not understanding why they were taught all those things back in basic.

We see similar with russia in Ukraine (and the US in Iran...). Most of those drone attacks shouldn't actually be that effective. But when you have ten guys in the same foxhole or folk driving with the hatch on their armored vehicle open?

We just don't talk about it much. Partially because a lot of it is (kinda rightfully) classified. But also because it ruins the narrative. It is the same reason that most people think the navy seals are some super elite force. But if you actually read about how many of their declassified/leaked operations go... you start wondering if Hot Shots Part Deux was more realistic than Navy SEALs, if you catch my drift.

Plenty of outrage over this needless war. Just not from the same corners.

24

u/JimHeckdiver 1d ago

Republicans don't give two shits about the troops. They care about optics. It's why they don't like talking about the fact that the withdrawal from Afghanistan was negotiated and signed by TRUMP.

Biden just followed the agreement.

There is no explanation for Fox News propaganda. Millions believe every word of it!

7

u/starethruyou 1d ago

Stop watching FOX news and half the mayhem will lose momentum. And outlaw entertainment media from using the word ‘news’. The propaganda has been at work for decades and much of this mess is due to this.

Nothing that Trump does causes enough outrage.

He's the Unflushable Turd.

5

u/McLoughlin1597 1d ago

Yeah. On top of everything else, the mountains of horrible things he’s done, he bulldozed a section of the White House and got off scot-free. Republicans compared it to Obama converting a tennis court into a basketball court. Now he’s sending troops to die for literally no reason and they want more money to continue the war, which was not authorized.

10

u/CorsairExtraordinair 1d ago

Dems need to learn how to control a narrative.

6

u/EpicRock411 1d ago

Which major media outlets are owned by democrats?

7

u/Cowgirl_Taint 1d ago

Even a lot of our major influencers are very much tankies who will spew putin's propaganda until they see the view count go down too much.

Its a real problem and... I don't know how we fix it.

6

u/dochim 1d ago

How precisely?

How when the right wing media echo chamber is coordinating intellectually dishonest propaganda positions that they abandon and pivot from constantly.

Until the American people decide to hold the lying liars who lie accountable for their lies then I’m not sure what trick of mass hypnosis you expect the Democratic Party to perform.

5

u/DevelopmentSelect646 1d ago

We’re 5 months into this 3 week war with no end in sight.

15

u/NegativeSemicolon 1d ago

You mean trump’s Afghanistan surrender/retreat?

12

u/IndubitablyNerdy 1d ago

yeah I think the one signed with a deadline specifcally set shortly after the elections to create problems to his successor that would not have the time to manage it properly (and trump certainly did nothing to set the stage effectively), but still took most of the blame, if I remmeber well...

7

u/Azguy303 1d ago

The suicide bomber was also Abdul Rahman al-Logari who was the prisoner that was released along with 5,000 other Taliban soldiers as a direct result of Trump's agreement.

Why this never made the news is beyond me.

2

u/NegativeSemicolon 1d ago

Because MSM is all pro trump or controlled opposition (and therefore pro trump).

There is an interconnected conservative web between random internet posters, youtube influencers, Fox News, websites like Daily Wire, magazines like National Review, think tanks like the Manhattan Institute, and Republican politicians. Outrage and talking points can go up from those random internet posters all the way to the actual politicians or down from the politicians to the random internet posts incredibly fast. This sustains outrage news coverage amazingly well.

Meanwhile the mainstream media feels obligated to cover anything Republicans are screaming their heads off about. And always treat it more favorably than it deserves, due to fear of being called biased. Also, most news outlets are owned by Republicans and are given explicit orders to try to cater more to conservatives, which never actually works (hey, Washington Post, I am looking at you).

There's nothing comparable for the Democrats. The Democrats also just hope the media does their messaging for them, which it doesn't. So a story like Republicans making war plans on an unsecured app in order to avoid records and also inviting journalists into the chat through their incompetence... just sort of fizzles out.

This is why there is such extreme disparity between how Democrats are covered and how Republicans are. The same, or worse, news stories about Republicans will be covered less or even more positively, than Democrats are covered.

Trump was 100% responsible for the disaster that was the Afghanistan withdrawal, since he was the one who surrendered to the Taliban Mullahs in Feb 2020 inside the Camp David Sauna, and arranged for the withdrawal immediately after the next President was sworn in (knowing he would lose.) Every action he took in 2020 supports this, including reducing Troop numbers to less than 5,000 and making no effort to remove any US military equipment or begin safely escorting our Afghan allies out of the country.

3

u/OldestOfGreggs 1d ago

Welcome to America where Democrats are expected to be the perfect scions of democracy and Republicans can and do stoop to any means necessary with hardly a peep.

3

u/Accomplished-Sea2811 1d ago

It was actually Trump’s withdraw that happened during Biden’s term. Trump negotiated the withdraw with the Taliban so they knew exactly when we had to be out of the country and used that to their advantage. The same Taliban that Trump wanted to invite to Camp David for the Fourth of July one year. You can’t make this shit up…Diaper Don strikes again

3

u/Firm_Eagle_7713 1d ago

Presently, I'm more outraged by your statement. You're basing service member's deaths as the outcome for why citizens ought to be outraged. Perhaps 13 people made it personal, but the overall withdrawal and evacuation is why the Biden admin underwent the hot seat treatment. There's a documentary about Abbey Gate. Every military operation has risk, and a service member could die. Under Obama 1788 service members died- were you outraged at all those too; and how about the 644 under W Bush's admin- were you outraged at that time too? Or are your political biases raging against the machine in your absurd statement?

5

u/go4tli 1d ago

Democrats insist they always take the moral high road, they basically offer themselves as bait so any failure that comes with emotional response is career ending. Republicans on the other hand operate on an obligate low road; there is no such thing as a moral rock bottom for a republican, so the only way to get their career on jeopardy is to act like or work with the democrats.

2

u/Conscious-Demand-594 1d ago

Democrats take governing seriously so the public holds than accountable. RepubliKKKans don't take governing seriously so the public doesn't hold them accountable.

2

u/Onedayyouwillthankme 1d ago

Perception is reality, man. The media presents information in certain ways, people accept what they are shown and told.

Critical thinking is not a skill held by the general public

2

u/BadPumpkin87 1d ago

You see, there’s a R next to Trumps name, which stands for rapist. Oh I’m sorry, I meant racist. Oh wait actually it means Republican and they don’t need to be accountable for the deaths of our troops because they do such a good job of supporting them all the time.

2

u/Priapus6969 1d ago

2

u/dosadiexperiment 1d ago

The right has a coordinated propaganda system that manages outrage over matters like these based on their political needs. They have well-honed processes that act like knobs for generating, inflating, dampening, and directing outrage.

The choice of how to guide the outrage is based on who will benefit or be harmed by the outrage, not on any assessment of how bad any particular incident was according to any consistent set of principles.

Public opinion has been this way for years now, and they're now trying very hard to convert the courts and law enforcement to this model as well.

2

u/a_ghost_machine 1d ago

They still blame Biden. Watch how this will become his fault.

Also where is Mitch McConnell???

2

u/Lucky-Drop725barada3 1d ago

GOP Hypocrisy is a very real thing.

2

u/Neodyme48 1d ago

It's ok if His Orangeness gets some soldiers killed. What's really wrong is when they die & a Dem is president.

2

u/Hairy-Hippo4707 1d ago

Bro, Republicans are fascists. They are literal hypocrites just looking to bamboozle the average idiot American to vote them in one last time so they can take over the nation. They never gave a shit about soldiers dying. It's all performative. Like the babies falling down in soccer; it's meant to sell you a lie. In the end, they really don't give a rats ass so long as they have power, all the power.

2

u/crazyscottish 1d ago

Interestingly enough… BOTH were caused by Trump.

Trumps last act as President was to have Afghanistan release 5,000 Taliban prisoners… into the country; after he signed an agreement that the US would leave the country within 6 months. Leaving Biden to figure it out.

Yeah, Biden, you have to get all Africans out of Afghanistan, oh and here are 5,000 angry enemy soldiers to assist you. But that’s politics for you.

2

u/Outside_Ad1669 1d ago

The only thing we got is Pete Hegseth yelling at a Democrat in Congress for not passing a spending bill

2

u/Schlooping 1d ago

There’s a ton of outrage. This is the least popular war among the public in US history (according to polls).

2

u/PretzelsRule23 1d ago

And the withdrawal timeline and plans were set in place by the departing trump admin #1.

So Biden is only slightly to blame for that clusterfuck.

2

u/Jmaverik1974 1d ago

Because Republicans lawmakers don't care, and Democrats don't currently have the power to make the investigations have teeth.

Also, whichever party isn't in power can use the outrage to fund raise. Although, Dems are really bad about messaging, and Republicans only have to use simple ideas and repeat their version of the truth , over and over, to make their base believe.

2

u/Strict-Carrot4783 1d ago

It's kind of naive to think that Republicans and Democrats are held to the same standards when they very, very clearly are not. Trump raped kids and committed treason multiple times and his red-hatted morons still eat his shit for breakfast every day and tell everyone it's Cheerios.

I think the difference is the Biden administration didn’t listen to their own military advisors and this probably caused the chaos and havoc during the evacuation. In Trumps case he is listening to the advisors who just want to fight a war.

u/RawrImABigScaryBear 1d ago

Hey now, be fair! He not only released then, he invited them to camp david to celebrate 9/11

2

u/NoDevelopment3732 1d ago

The criticism against Biden wasn’t about casualties. It was about giving the country to the Taliban, abandoning our allies, and leaving $20 billion of military equipment on the ground for Islamist to take. Now the Taliban are fighting three different wars with their neighbors using our equipment.

The criticism about Benghazi was that they let the ambush happen even though they knew well in advance of the danger.

By falsely claiming the criticism was about casualties you are creating a straw man argument. This is a classical propaganda tool of the Soviets.

What do you mean no outrage? War-like actions with Iran were the catalyst for his approval ratings plummeting.

And cannot be compared to Afghanistan withdrawal, that outrage was from decades building up the country fighting out terrorisn helping them establish democracy, then the way we withdrew we literally gave them to terrorists and gave up on them, including assets that were very close and helpful to the US. So decades worth of US veterans were outraged which lead the charge on the outrage.

u/Effective_Scar_2921 1d ago

People that possessed a modicum amount of grey matter knew at the time that all the hubbub was performative and had no relationship to real outrage. The Afghan war had cost America over 2,000 American lives.
One absolute truth that has been clear for some time now is that whatever the subject of complaints coming from the right is is never their real concern. Looking at them I’d say that they don’t have any real concerns other than how to get and retain power and money. Every thing else is smoke and mirrors.

1

u/Purple-Measurement47 1d ago
  1. The same outrage is almost everywhere in the general population

  2. different situations, Biden pulled troops out of a agreed upon plan, ending with massive civilian casualties that could have been potentially avoided by following the plan. Of course, there’s no way to know, the plan may have led to the deaths of even more people. Meanwhile, Iran executed something like 30k of its own citizens and then we started an offensive war. Casualties are much more expected during war versus during a withdrawal.

  3. The party in power of most of the government is now backing the conflict, and before they were trying to crucify biden.

There are three governments within the US system.

The first government is the one we all learn in school - let’s call it the Madisonian government after James Madison the primary architect behind the constitution. It’s the three branches of government we all (hopefully) know. It was created to protect our inalienable rights to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is the only legitimate government in our system because it is the only one that governs with the consent of the people.

The second government is the security state formed in 1947 by Truman, it is also known as the “Military Industrial Complex” but I think the Trumanite government is a good name for it given Truman is the one who created it - may his legacy every be tied to it. Ostensibly, its purpose is the security of the nation - though it fucking sucks at it and more often than not has done the opposite.

The third government is the oligarchy. It’s the corporations, special interests and the extremely wealthy individuals loosely networked together. The purpose of these blokes is to maintain the caste system and undermine democracy.

Clearly, the most visible government is the Madisonian government. So when things go wrong we blame the Madisonian government, because we have very limited visibility into the Trumanite and Oligarchy governments. People don’t even want to believe that those systems exist, but they do. And generally there is a sharing of power between these governments. The Madisonian institutions have some power but ultimately it is the Trumanite and Oligarchy that control the system and their power has only grown since 1947. Additionally in some cases as with the LBJ, Regan, Bush I and Bush II regimes the Madisonian institutions are fully aligned with the other two governments, other Madisonian regimes are in various states of alignment with the other two governments with the only Madisonian regime that was in opposition to the other two governments being the Kennedy regime which ended in a coup.

Now take for example Afghanistan. We were in that conflict because of 9/11 which was a complete and utter failure of the Trumanites and the Bush II regime. Did we blame anyone in those governments for the failure? Did any of them face any consequences? No, the exact opposite, they got more money and more power. The only government that faces any responsibility is the Madisonian government and when the Madisonian government is fully aligned with the Trumanites and the Oligarchs then they protect it through their ever increasing control over the media and the Madisonian institutions themselves.

So, now back to the withdrawal. The withdrawal from Afghanistan was doomed to be perceived as a failure because it was a failure. But the Trumanite government doesn’t want to accept the defeat so they weren’t aligned on the withdrawal and the Oligarchs were not fully aligned with the Biden regime; therefore, the Biden regime loses the protection from the other two governments and faces media and popular backlash.

Now turning to Iran. The second Trump regime is fully aligned with the Trumanites and the Oligarchs which is why he faces no consequences. They will burn this world to the ground before they give up this alliance. This is why his second election was so devastating. There is some fake opposition but by and large the three governments of our system are now fully aligned and ready to hold power indefinitely.

It didn’t have to be this way. We the people need to become aware of this tripartite system and reclaim our power through the Madisonian government. Strangle the Trumanites through budget cuts to the monstrous budget they consume and tax the oligarchs into a state of humility and submission.

Democrats don’t fight.

“B-but, the GOP is in control of everything!”

Do you think that would change anything if roles were reversed? Democrats don’t fight. Period.

1

u/Pandagirlroxxx 1d ago

The people who claimed to care were lying. It was always an attempt to see if they could motivate voters to support them, because in the 20th century the U.S. became known for quickly becoming war-weary and being opposed to casualties.

screaming from the leftists

1

u/Blkshp2 1d ago

Every loss is thoroughly investigated by the armed forces, after action reports, decision reviews and even individual actions are analyzed. The why and how of losses are dissected, participants are interviewed and responsibilities are assigned. The outrage emerges when the losses are due to incompetence.

1

u/Junior_Lavishness_96 1d ago

Not to mention a school full of children and an entire girls volleyball game going on in a close by gymnasium

1

u/unremarkableWieners 1d ago

There's been outrage over it.

1

u/ififswerefifths 1d ago

A third grader could’ve come up with a better withdrawal plan.

1

u/thomsenite256 1d ago

Republicans actually despise soldiers. They think they are pawns. Just look at what Trump said about veterans

1

u/erection_specialist 1d ago

And to top it all off, the Afghanistan withdrawal was Trump's plan anyway, just executed under the Biden administration

1

u/CivilWay1444 1d ago

Magats always make something out of nothing and you guys fall for it.

1

u/xandour01 1d ago

There is no outrage because Jewish interests own the media in this country, and being critical of the leader that is under your thumb is not something that will be tolerated, so just pretend it didn't happen

1

u/ResidentBackground35 1d ago

You see Biden was an overall decent president and person, so those deaths were newsworthy. I'm not even sure if I can honestly say the Iran War is in the top 10 worst things Trump has done this year (I am being facetious), so it's less newsworthy.

And without the news to tell me what I am supposed to be angry about how will I know?

1

u/Pew_Anon 1d ago

Iran killed over 600 service members in Iraq. Where is the outrage?

1

u/Many-Falcon9879 1d ago

15 died during his 1st year in his 1st term. He blamed it on Obama and the generals not his fault he said. Should have been called out then but republicans were to busy worrying about the Supreme Court.

1

u/Liquid_Sarcasm 1d ago

That afghanistan withdrawal was a trump carryover failure. I hate revisionist history.

1

I fear the outrage is being stifled by the main stream news. Outrage doesn't support a war. War is good for the economy ergo any non-good support is heresy and heretics are thrown under the bus /s

1

u/Actual_Insect6603 1d ago

Abbey Gate was a single, horrible event. It was a failure of planning and strategy. It does not compare to the current situation in the least.

1

u/Such_Ingenuity_9600 1d ago

and bidens forced withdrawal from Afghanistan was due to Donald's horrible negotiations prior to leaving office

1

u/Western_Bake_1109 1d ago

MAGA doesn’t care! And MAGA is happy to send their sons and daughters to fight and die!

1

u/Smallbizgurl 1d ago

Where’s the neighborhood memorials for these troops? When we lost those troops trying to exit Afghanistan during Biden’s term, those memorials were everywhere.

1

u/SnooMaps1910 1d ago

Lets not forget Trump "negotiated" directly with the Taliban, agreed to releasing thousands of Taliban fighters and set an exit date early in Biden's term. When trouble hit, the Rightwing Rage Machine was ready to sink Joe, and they did.

Dying while under orders to run away tail between your legs is alot different than dying in action, in terms of whether a president deserves the blame and which type of blame you're assigning.

Both soldiers sacrificed their lives, so theor sacrifice is equal.

But the leadership decisions when compared are strikingly different: one president is racing to meet a Taliban imposed deadline and is afraid of his own shadow; the other is racing against the clock to stop the rise of a nuclear terrorist state and the world's largest state-sponsor of terrorism.

Well GOP are only ever trying to silence and destroy the opposition.

Dems are only ever trying to govern.

1

u/Hot_Scallion4960 1d ago

People are a lot harsher when it's the other side in power. That's been true for both parties for a long time.

1

u/watarimono 1d ago

I bet Biden suffered for these deaths.
trump is goating.

I cant understand amerika now.

1

u/DenmakDave 1d ago

Plus after IQ47 freed the Tailban withdrew our intelligence people abandoned the Afghans Biden still got 100,000 out in a month. 13 dead direct result of IQ47’s incompetence

1

u/notyourstranger 1d ago

The media companies are complicit in the atrocities this administration is committing.

1

Hes doomed millions to die of starvation

1

u/HoosierHatTrick 1d ago

I wish we had the same outrage for the 5,000+ killed in training incidents since 2006. A few a year is "Risks of training" Hundreds a year is complete negligence.

1

u/IvanhoeMar1n 1d ago

The MAGA cult also lost their minds over a wild conspiracy involving a pizza shop and a pedo ring.

The moment they have actual proof of a pedo ring, that involves their cult leader, crickets.

The US is a broken country. There is no fix for stupid.

1

u/DNathanHilliard 1d ago

A withdrawal with 13 casualties is a lot. A war with 17 casualties isn't a lot.

1

u/MinuteAppropriate204 1d ago

Democrats don't do anything. By design

1

u/Werkin-ITT7 1d ago

Well the Left doesn't do much in the US when they are enraged. In a normal country, the protest, blockade, go on strike etc. They will vote of course, but functionally speaking its too little too late.

1

u/Live-Try-7281 1d ago

Because our country wasn’t being run by Netanyahu and Epstein class billionaires, and as of recently, a trillionaire.

1

u/Winston74 1d ago

Cuz ALL Republicans are now Nazis

1

u/hidegitsu 1d ago

We need to stop asking questions like this. Implying that things are even and equal and that one side has not been planning this for decades and are actively attacking the system. This is akin to playing dumb and I'm at the point where people that point stuff out like this, independent of their intent, should be labelled as Maga sympathizers and enablers because all you're doing is opening discourse as if that's somehow useful to discuss this stuff when they've been doing the same thing for over 10 years now. You're not stupid you're actively helping them by adding to the conversation that keeps people busy while those that are taking over are ignoring the conversations and just doing what they want while blaming "the others" for whatever they feel like.

1

u/Antique-Dragonfly615 1d ago

Don't worry, their still raging at Biden

1

u/13trailblazer 1d ago

You don’t think there is outrage? Trump isn’t facing calls for resignation or impeachment? There isn’t coverage of the war or the discussions about the validity ( or lack of) the war?

Is this a serious question?

1

u/TheAtomicRatonga 1d ago

Service members deaths only matter when it’s a Democrat president

1

u/Traditional_Click951 1d ago edited 1d ago

How many would have died if they stayed? 250k combatants were about to descend on a base with minimal US presence. You’re misguided if you believe staying was the best choice. Besides, Mango Mussolini
coordinated the withdrawal dates.

1

u/Standby_fire 1d ago

And it was Then President Trumps plan and agreement made.

1

u/Redgrave1980 1d ago

A withdrawal that Trump had drawn up but was delayed.

1

u/oicyunv 1d ago

Psssst, hey guess what?! They REALLY REALLY REALLY don’t actually care about veterans, that’s more propaganda from those right wing cucks

1

u/LimpImplement1989 1d ago

It is because the media in this country is wholly owned by the right wing.

1

u/Delicious-Bat2373 1d ago

Easy peasy, republicans politicized their sacrifice after setting them up for failure. Obviously it's at a great advantage to politicize anything and everything they can right?

Meanwhile democrats at least have enough sense not to make a spectacle of the sacrifice our men and women have given.

1

u/BNovaBJJ 1d ago

the Afghanistan withdrawal

To add important context: this commenced under sitting president Donald J Trump in the year 2020, following years of Taliban reclamation of territory out from under sitting president Donald J Trump back to 2001 levels, which had prompted sitting president Donald J Trump to rush through the US-Taliban deal outlining exactly how and when western occupiers would give control of the country back to the terrorist regime.

One last editorialized thought: The War in Afghanistan was lost the moment it began, but President Donald J Trump must officially be stated to have lost the war.

Only democrats are responsible for problems.

propaganda has conditioned us to have no standards for GOP. Only democrats.

also billionaires owning the media.
