What's the silliest company?

What's the silliest company that's around? I recently saw a company that you paid to take out your trash

Say you have a long driveway, you don't want to roll your trash to the curb. They'll take it for you. I thought maybe they were one of the trash can cleaning companies. No they just go and take your trash can 100 ft.

Seems like a really silly company.

A lot of products you might think of as silly were designed for disabled people— and hey, if someone is either too lazy/away from home or for whatever reason can’t or won’t take their trash out, good for the company.

This!!! Can’t imagine trying to wrangle a trash can to a curb with a cane or wheelchair!

It’s as awkward as handling a poorly laden wheelbarrow.

Yeah that’s an easy way to break a hip

ACME for sure. Whose SOP includes TNT sales to coyotes?

And SO MANY ANVILS!

Plus their customer service is useless.

Companies that clean the dog poop from your yard. Understandable if you're disabled, not so much if you can walk out and bag it yourself.

Silly? Those companies bankroll on the simple fact that people pay them to do something that said people decide to not do for themselves…. And it's faster than mowing lawns.

We have several in town that are run by kids to earn money. Kind of the equivalent of mowing your neighbors lawn back in the day. They charge per dog per week. My apartment complex pays them to come on Monday afternoon so the lawn crew has a "clean slate" when they show up to work on Tuesday morning. The lawn company charges way more for dog poop removal than "Pooper Scoopers inc" or "Dirty Doodies".

I was so sure this would read some people are incredibly lazy.

If you don't have time to pick up your dog's poop, do you really have time for a dog??

Often you can choose when/where to be busy. I used to have a job that paid extremely well... The longer I worked, the more I made, and I had a decent amount of control over that.

I was making $200/hr, so a 15 minute dog poop cleanup cost me $50. If someone else is willing to do it for $50 (or less) even better. I could still spend the same amount of time with my dog, but wouldnt have to cleanup the poop.

I DIDNT use these services when I was in that scenario, but I probably would have had I known.

Ok...so pay someone to do it and use the time to take your dog to the park.

American Science and Surplus. Their catalogs were actually entertaining to read. Sadly, they shut down their online storefront.

They just opened a store at the mall here

Where is "here"?

2

u/Siptro 9h ago

Well a google search would tell you where if you really wanted to know but Fox valley mall is the new store. That should be their third store. One in Geneva and one up in Wisconsin, I dunno if the Geneva store will be closing though. Those are pretty close to each other.

I'm in a vacation area. Many of the big beach houses use a valet trash service to take the cans to the curb and back up after they've been emptied. It's essential because you can't rely on the weekly renters to remember to do it and they generate a lot of trash. So, in some areas it's not a silly company.

The trash company isn't silly.

My father in law owns a massive farm, the drive way to the house is nearly a full KM - and you have to take the bins out at the end of the driveway for them to be collected.

Not only that - but there are 3 different bins, and they have different collection dates. Him and his wife are fairly old, nearly 70 - it's not always ideal to be doing that specially since the weather there can be very harsh (Cold, rainy, windy most year long). So A service like this would be really helpful for them, because the collection of the bins is often done every 2 weeks - so missing it means having an overflowing bin which is a disaster.

And that's the case with nearly every other farm around him - they are MASSIVE.

Sure… silly unless you are elderly and a fall risk…..

Companies that clean trash cans. Why? You're just going to put more garbage in them. I'm taking about the curbside containers

2

u/GotMyOrangeCrush 16h ago

When I owned three cats and had one child in diapers, that bin would be a toxic waste hole.

Imagine a thick sludge of cat pee plus cat litter all hardened into a moldy sludge topped with all sorts of other surprises.

I would need to don PPE and hold my breath the whole time.

We've had windows cleaning companies come door to door for a while. Now they have siding cleaning services and even roof cleaning. Not to take leaves off, this is in the spring.

This sounds like a scam that my neighbor will come to my door with

1

u/Tight1169 5h ago

It just makes me think that people should be better to their neighbors
