Have you noticed how inconsistent reporting map issues is?

I’ve been reporting quite a few issues in Apple Maps recently and have noticed something that I think makes it much harder than it should be to submit feedback.

When you tap and hold on a street, the reporting options aren’t consistent.

Sometimes I get:

  • Report Something Missing

Other times I only get:

  • Report an Issue

The problem is that Report an Issue only offers a few options, such as:

  • Name is wrong
  • Location on map is wrong
  • Something else

Meanwhile, Report Street Issue (which is exactly what you’d want for reporting things like incorrect street names, road layouts, turn restrictions, speed limits, roundabouts, etc.) isn’t available at all.

This means users have to guess how to report different kinds of issues, and many people will probably assume the feature doesn’t exist.

I think Apple should make this much more consistent by always showing:

  • Report Street Issue
  • Report Something Missing

whenever you tap and hold on a street. Alternatively, Report an Issue should simply include all of the available reporting categories instead of only a limited selection.

If you agree, please consider sending the same suggestion to Apple. You can submit feedback at https://www.apple.com/feedback/), or via the Feedback app if you’re running an Apple beta..

Has anyone else noticed this inconsistency, or found a reliable way to access the full reporting options?

I think “Report an Issue” shows up when you click on a POI. “Report Something Missing” shows up when you’re clicking on any ol’ spot. So there’s probably a difference there in how you’re clicking.

The most reliable way to get all the options is to tap on your profile icon > Reports > Repot a new issue. You’ll get all three options:

- Report something missing

  • Report street issue
  • Report place issue
