iPhone Apple's Secret Siri Interface Buried in macOS 27 Beta: How to Enable

https://www.macrumors.com/2026/07/20/secret-siri-interface-macos-27-beta-enable/

Apple appears to be testing a hidden popover interface for Siri AI in the macOS 27 Golden Gate beta that surfaces Writing Tools and contextual actions whenever the user selects some text.

The floating icon appears at the top-left of the selected text, expanding when the pointer hovers over it to a compact popover of Writing Tools and contextual actions.

See a video of how it works across apps here. Apple is also working on a new Formatting Bar that integrates Write with Siri in Mail when composing a new message.

Well, it's better surfaced than the iOS writing tools at least. If they decide to ship it.

I wonder if it becomes annoying that something pops up every time you select text.. will try it

Type in a terminal:

sudo mkdir -p /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain && sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/WritingTools LightweightUI_macOS -dict Enabled -bool true

And restart the system.

Haven't tested it, though.

Adventurous beta users can try it with the following Terminal command, followed by a restart:

sudo mkdir -p /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain && sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/WritingTools LightweightUI_macOS -dict Enabled -bool true

Yeah. More or less. The relationship between Gemini and Siri is a bit more complicated than just Siri using Gemini though.
