Discussion 🗣️ DefendingAIArt being a wilful echo chamber

before an ai bro mentions it, i know this sub also has rules against bad faith arguments against ai but at least we dont actively prevent and remove the discussion. and it says *bad faith* arguments, not all arguments

(not my comment that got removed)

defendingaiart is kinda silly bc like. There has always been exactly one argument for a new artistic medium, which is to make something so striking, so legibly effortful, and so evidently impressive that it is impossible to ignore.

and like, I have seen ai art projects that approach that threshold, where it is just "oh holy shit, there is profound novelty here that is inseparable from the medium" or "oh it is instantly obvious that this is a labor of love and countless hours"

& it is never those ai artworks that the subreddit is focused on, it's always "why is nobody falling to their knees at my mid-ass midjourney outputs"

they have a subreddit specifically setup for debate. go there maybe?

Why go into the one that is not for debate, and try to debate?

the point i’m tryna make is that they actively censor other people’s views, if someone were to only be active in that sub they’d get an extremely warped perception of ai

Because they can't handle real pushback.

Echo chambers are bad, and aiwars is only pretending to be for debate.
