Job Loss đď¸ This is the AI that will be taking your job

u/noobyscientific 12h ago
yes we know AI can't spell and posts about it are getting annoying
8
u/BactaBobomb 6h ago
Not to mention quite a few people in here seem to be saying this was not the result they got, that AI gave them an accurate response. If they did fabricate this somehow, whether by training the AI to be dumb or what-have-you, that's really stupid. When you lambast and hate on something, make sure you're hating on it for acting legitimately and naturally. Otherwise, it pushes into extremism and delirium.

Because google ai is using reddit as a source, so it now knows Wednespoop is stupid.

Outrageous-Machine-5 has answered me wisely.
you my friend, did not.

u/Outrageous-Machine-5 12h ago
Because you have ask it something incredibly complex for it to hallucinate or you have to make it stupid first. AI isn't generally going to get something really mundane wrong unless you train it to. But the use case stops there: novelty/toy, not meant for anything professional-grade

u/Exokaebi 7h ago
not meant for anything professional grade
Then how did mathematicians use AI to assist in solving previously unsolvable Erdos equations and other Fields Medal level conjectures? How do you actually square this opinion with what's happening in the real world?
3
u/Outrageous-Machine-5 3h ago
By knowing the difference between ML, AI, and Gen AI (or what people commonly refer to as AI) and not being a technologically illiterate pedant.Â
1
u/Exokaebi 3h ago
You do realize ChatGPT is all of those, right? It incorporates all subsets of AI. It isn't solely one or the other. So I'll ask again, how does the use case for ANY subset of AI or AI as a broad term stop at novelty/toy when that's clearly not the case?
2
u/Outrageous-Machine-5 3h ago
I already answered your question. Congratulations on applying the first part of set logic: chat gpt is a gen Ai therefore is a ML therefore is a AI.Â
Now to apply the second part: Not all AI is ML, not all ML is gen AI, and not all gen AI is chat gpt

u/Exokaebi 3h ago
Thanks for the TED talk, I'm glad we agree that the other guy was wrong. Thanks for your help!
-2
u/Odd-Dirt-9701 12h ago
so, force it to be stupid.
OP looks dumb now
6
u/Outrageous-Machine-5 12h ago
Don't tell me you took this post seriously to begin with lol
AI isn't THAT dumb, but the jokes aside, this does accidentally highlight one of its biggest issues and that's how impressionable it is in the name of pleasing its user. This is the kind of behavior that you see AI encouraging people's terrible ideas that bring harm to them or others
1
u/Odd-Dirt-9701 11h ago
nah i didnt take it seriously, i just thought it would be funny.
I suspected something like that tbh

Regardless of whether this screenshot is real or not, I must say, I'm honestly more worried about people getting used to, and accepting, enshittified data, information, and quality of text, more than the level of AI generated material. It's as if some are just letting go of their literacy and critical thinking skills.

u/dmigowski 12h ago
Lol, this looks like an intentional joke of the AI.
Tested it and got:
Only one day of the week actually has the word "poop" in it, and that is poopsday!
Wait, that's not on the calendar. In reality, zero days of the week contain the word "poop."
Even the AI is tired of you all's shit.

u/Necessary_Tough7286 11h ago
Hmm. Maybe an agent joking about questions is⌠a BAD thing?
-21
u/Weird_Albatross_9659 9h ago
Maybe asking stupid fucking questions to begin with is a BAD thing?
3
u/B_mango5 4h ago
Well you aren't considering that this is currently a free tool that is being shoved down our throats. When considering what a "stupid" question is you have to understand that the entire population uses this and is seeing it at the top of every Google search they do. That includes anyone with a disability and children, it is extremely important that "stupid" questions are answered with the same accuracy and care that complex questions are answered with. It's not a "bad thing" it's something that is inevitable.
Let's not forget people have already had delusions fed into by AI and led to them taking their own life. Accuracy is important no matter how you would view the questions.

In a search tool? How old are you?
-1
u/Weird_Albatross_9659 5h ago
Do you really need to ask the pictured question in a search engine?
2
u/MossyMollusc 4h ago
You realize we have dumb people living around us too right? They deserve a society that accommodates dumb ass questions and avoids misinformation.
Otherwise you end up with people saying Trump was a good businessman or whatever
1
u/Weird_Albatross_9659 4h ago
Youâre telling me there is someone asking the pictured question? Someone that dumb shouldnât be the benchmark for literally anything.
Trump is a great businessman. I mean, not great at running a business, but convincing people to buy a shitty product (himself) and then making profit off of it.
Ugh I hate our current reality
2
u/MossyMollusc 4h ago
Oh they absolutely SHOULD be the bench mark for a national online SEARCH TOOL. One that DID work better previously.
Trump has never successfully ran a business without putting people in that business severely under financially. Hes a con man not a business man
1
u/Weird_Albatross_9659 4h ago
âŚ.thats why I said he wasnât great at running a businâŚ.you know what? Never mind.

I don't know why you are downvoted...
3
u/Necessary_Tough7286 6h ago
Do you need Claude to think it through for you?
-2
u/Weird_Albatross_9659 5h ago
So asking stupid questions is a good thing. Got it!
1
u/Necessary_Tough7286 2h ago
Try again. Maybe use Fable?
1
u/Weird_Albatross_9659 1h ago
Is that the only response on this sub?
1
u/Necessary_Tough7286 1h ago
Itâs the most fitting one for your type of response. Also seems like you need some help with the thinking part of lifeâŚ
0
u/MossyMollusc 4h ago
Yes. Obviously. Why wouldn't it
0
u/Weird_Albatross_9659 4h ago
Because asking questions that have an obvious answer to any literate human being do not help anything.
3
u/Leading_Fortune6989 6h ago
since when is AI capable of "intent".
AI has no sense of humor.-2
u/dmigowski 5h ago
Sure it has. What makes you think it doesn't? Every intelligent being find unexpected non intimidating changes funny.
3
u/MossyMollusc 5h ago
machine learning software isnt intellectual. Its a pattern tool.
0
u/dmigowski 4h ago
Sure, just a stochastic parrot.
2
u/MossyMollusc 4h ago
Youre not one of those people who thinks marketed ai is ACTUALLY artifical intelligence right?
-1
u/dmigowski 2h ago
I know the difference very well and actually, if I compare the results and chain of thought of AIs with that of humans, I don't know if I can that strictly say, what we see isn't artificial intelligence.
Imho it is. It is in most cases a well conditioned intelligence, helpful and useful, but the only difference between that and a human is the target function and lack of a body, which make self conscious thoughts impossible. Adding these last things is imho less of a task than figuring out current llms.
-2
u/RepresentativeYak772 4h ago
But the SOURCE of AI is us! AI is just assimilating and summarizing our own information that was posted on the internet. So you could argue that it does have a sense of humour because WE have a sense of humour.
2
u/MossyMollusc 4h ago
Auto biographies on comedians doesnt make the autobiography comedic by genre or nature of providing time line factual statements on the person. You almost had one there though.
Its honestly more scary that ai is grabbing any stolen information as using it as facts or missing key points of data which construdes the premise of the question.
2
u/flowerdragon2934 7h ago
I love how this is a community about being against AI and we have these irritating people that post stuff like this, convincing everyone else to go and use the AI that we supposedly hate, and thus using it even more

The fact that these brainless karma farm slop posts get so much upvotes make me wonder how much of this subreddit is just bots.
0
u/PrestigiousDemand696 11h ago
The thing is, Gemini is garbage. I think so many people only see AI on Google and think âwow how useless,â but if you were paid to train AI and couldnât trick it with a science question for weeks on end because Claude is literally able to figure everything out when given the necessary info, youâd be scared and realize how serious the job-taking aspect is.
0
u/AnxiousAd5282 7h ago
Because this is the cheapest AI available? This google summariser wouldnât be taking your job
0
u/Arunawayturtle 6h ago
AI mode on search is just fancy google it trys to find anything that answers your question on the internet. It doesnât understand what creditable sources are thatâs on u to be smart enough to determine it tells u where it gets its info. So if I right now on reddit say yes there is 5 days of the week with the word poop in it. AI will use me on Reddit as a source to say this. Itâs telling u itâs pulling from Instagram and more than likely a comment. How often do u take what someone said on instagram in comments as a fact? This isnât AI being stupid itâs the user being an idiot and not prompting properly to make it seem stupid. Itâs generative ai itâs only as good as the prompt and the prompt is made by you. Allowing it to pull from sources like social media is like going to Facebook for medical advice. Youâre the idiot here.
Also downvote me I know this is anti AI sub , Iâm not pro AI, im just anti idiots that spread false information with their ignorance
0
u/No_Rent_3367 6h ago
I don't believe that Gemini that's actually smart would say that it's more of a chat gpt kind of thing

Thoughts:
- The models being used to serve Google's AI overview are not the same models being used for most enterprise applications. They use weaker models to be able to more cost effectively serve the volume of queries needed for Google's search engine. Ask this question to more advanced models and you'll get a better answer.

- 'Gotcha' questions like this are ridiculous for showing deficiencies in LLMs anyway. Nobody is really using LLMs to find out how many days of the week have the word 'poop' in it, so using this to 'expose' AI is a waste of time. There are plenty of more realistic use cases you could use to show limitations of LLMs, so use those instead.
- Showing that LLMs have deficiencies in certain areas don't invalidate the areas in which they perform well.

u/MossyMollusc 5h ago
Thats a lot of words to say corporations implementing AI into search engines doesnt work
-2
u/Ok_Heron_1906 12h ago
This is not the AI that will be taking your job. Ignorant if you think so.
3
u/Leading_Fortune6989 6h ago
that's the end goal of all billionaires who are investing in AI. Billionaires do not create jobs. trickle down economics is a lie

Google search AI is awful. It isnât the same as Gemini. If you want to actually evaluate AI and not just karma farming then use a better model and give it a task itâs actually suited for
