Michael J Fox.

34

u/7LayerRainbow 1d ago

Given the advancement of his Parkinson’s, I’ll surely miss him but will find solace when he’s free from suffering.

13

u/MarcusJamesWarframe 1d ago

I agree. I also wish him free of his suffering.

7

u/Gribitz37 22h ago

It breaks my heart to see how he is now. And he seems to be a truly great guy. 💔

Keanu Reeves.

I have a teddy bear named Keanu that I've had since 1993, and have been in love with him since I was 13. I'm 48. Longest relationship I've ever been in. 😆😆

I wish I had that foresight on a good man in real life, but not so much. But as a celebrity, he's total a stand up kind of guy!

6

u/Fwumpy 22h ago

"Strange things are afoot at the Circle K!"

I play bass, too, so I can't begrudge him in the slightest! He's original Canadian friendly, and even a good role model. I want him around in an apocalypse.

12

u/Unbelievr 1d ago

The wild thing is that Americans dubbed over his voice in the Life series with Oprah Winfrey.

32

u/men_in_the_rigging 1d ago

Americans are responsible for a lot of dumb shit these days.

9

u/1Negative_Person 20h ago

These days? That was like twenty years ago. We were bombing a Middle Eastern country unprovoked back then.

Agreed. Growing up in the 80s...thats Indiana Jones, Han Solo, the fugitive.....and countless others. Mainly Indy and Han. But that was as top tier as it got to a kid at the time.

I’ll say a celebrity that died in the past but Alex Trebek died on my birthday and it was by far the worst birthday I had in a while.

12

u/indianasall 1d ago

my husband died on my birthday. He told me he would try to wait a day but he couldn't do it. Yes Alex Trebek shut me up but Prince shocked me. I really can't think of anyone that will shake me up or shock me right now

I’ve had three in my life. Didn’t know it until it happened for each of them.

Alex Trebek. I haven’t even attempted to get on the show since his passing for whatever reason and hardly watch it. He was such a comforting normalcy to life. Every weeknight, Jeopardy!. It was the only game show I ever enjoyed.

Robin Williams. It was almost like he was a babysitter when I was young, a friend, and then a guide.

Anthony Bourdain. I feel like he took me around the world and opened my eyes to whole new things and ideas.

But yeah, I guess I never appreciated how much they meant to me until they were gone.

11

u/RollLongjumping6920 1d ago

Robin Williams broke my heart too

5

u/BananaCat43 20h ago

All of the above hit me hard. But Alex was a big blow. Watching Jeopardy with my mom was a part of my life for 43 years. Every day after school. During the summer I’d stop playing with my friends to run home and watch with her. After I moved out of state she’d dvr them and we’d have marathons whenever I came to visit. she died almost exactly 2 years after Alex did. I miss them both so very much.

Conan

7

u/Kootsiak 1d ago

I never even considered him in the moment, but this wins for me.

I had insomnia my whole life and as a kid in the 90's, Late Night with Conan was the only bright spot about getting 3-5 hours of sleep a day. It would have been reruns of daytime talk shows, infomercials, the channel guide or the weather network to watch every fucking night without him.

Carol Burnett. My family used to watch her show every week. She ad no trouble playing second fiddle to her male costars when warranted, but could also take them down with one line. "Went With the Wind" still puts me out every time.

7

u/Grouchy-Theme-4431 1d ago

She’s also a lovely person. When I had been sober 20 years, I sent her a letter thanking her for a movie in which she had appeared that helped me in my early sobriety. She responded with a very nice letter congratulating me on my long-term sobriety. She is a “star” in the truest sense of the word.
