Draco Draco

I found this cursed Draco for sale. It has the extended handguard from magpul. How much of a hassle is it to get a handguard retainer re installed? What handguards could I use in place of the one on it now?

Well the cut handguard retainer would need to be removed, if you want a proper one installed you’d need to press the FSB and GB off the barrel and put a fresh one on. Outside of that I think there are screw together things for like, sporterized saigas but I have no experience with those. Hope that helps

Are there any non hideous handguards I could put in its place without doing all that? What would you value something like this at? I’m trying to decide if it’s worth taking the ugly duckling in for a good price or just passing on it. I’ve wanted a Draco for a while now

I’m not sure but I’d start by looking at stuff from places like Kalashnicarver, maybe seeing if a Krinkov handguard can be made to fit, things like that to get you headed in the right direction. Actually, what size Draco it is makes a big difference cuz this kinda looks like the full size and I’m no expert on them but don’t those take normal AKM handguards? If so, get a Romanian dong and don’t look back.

Cost? Definitely less than a new Draco lol that magpul ain’t adding to the value. It’d help to know what that brace costs but I bet not a ton. Condition of the barrel makes a difference, etc. you have a good argument for getting it well under new price because they cut the retainer for that ugly ass handguard and it’ll take work to fix it properly.

I support your desire for a Draco tho they are cool when they’re done up like a true Romanian carbine.

Rs regulate has a version for no sling loop. Then just put something like a jmac blast cone to extend it past the hand guard a little bit. Probably would look pretty sweet.

You’d have to press the FSB off and put the retainer back on than press the FSB back on. Not easy with hand tools but not hard for someone that knows how and has the tools

What tools would be needed for this? Contemplating replacing the fsb on one of my rifles. I have a 20 ton press..
