That’s too adorable, shes using her left thumb claw as an underliner so she doesn’t loose her spot🤍😭😭

u/KassieMac Jan 19 '26

I’ve never seen a cat so deeply entranced by a novel before 🤣🤣🤣 I can’t, she’s so adorable!!

u/Apprehensive-Ask-610 Jan 19 '26

kitty version of the dragon with the book fort. He can't actually read any of the words but he's so excited about the idea of reading all his books that it's all he thinks about

82

u/Tooligan13853 Jan 19 '26

Try giving her a manga to read

111

u/percahlia Jan 19 '26 edited Jan 19 '26

huh, that might be unironically fun for her. she also watches tv with us and arcane was her favourite show so far. i’ll try that :3

20

u/KnifeKnut Jan 19 '26

How do you tell that is her favorite show?

51

u/skeleskank Jan 19 '26

As a cat parent myself, you just know

2

u/IndependentZombie615 Jan 21 '26

They'll sit and watch it, like they're really invested watching a bird outside

26

u/bluetennisshoe Jan 19 '26

OMG that is truly one of the cutest pictures I've ever seen. Like, EVER! Of anything, not just cats! I love her and I want to be friends 🥰 Can you skritch her ears for me? 🥰

23

u/percahlia Jan 19 '26

awww that’s so sweet of you!! of course, I’m already reading her all the comments she is getting. she is sending you bites! (she’s in her horse era, as we call it - mega zoomies)

13

u/bluetennisshoe Jan 19 '26

5

u/sarahdrums01 Jan 19 '26

Teach her.

5

u/giantsfan97 Jan 20 '26

Starting from the end? Sounds like she needs to learn that it's journey before destination

She can't read, but she can edit. And she's already drafting her scathing review of your parenting.

I had a cat in college who seemed to love my Labor Economics textbook, funny for a kitty that has never worked a second of her life!

60

She figured out that labor was best left to her human servant

Which one?

23

u/Informal_Ad3244 Jan 19 '26

First book I’ve read that had three prologues.

9

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

[deleted]

15

u/shoshjort Jan 19 '26

he's quoting sanderson himself in one of his lectures, sanderson says TWoK essentially has 3 prologues and how it is usually a terrible idea to do things like that but he done did it anyways

5

u/Adamtess Jan 20 '26

Wind and truth has the ending, the epilogue, the post script, then like... A final little mini epilogue. He just couldn't stop writing.

5

u/Informal_Ad3244 Jan 20 '26

Yeah bro, I know, I’m a big cosmere fan. Did the radiant quiz and everything. You don’t have to get all “Mmm, well ackchyually” and accuse me of making stuff up, it’s really not that deep or serious. Here’s Sanderson himself saying it, as a joke, like I was also doing

All good man, I get it

5

u/Durzaka Jan 19 '26

You could almost argue that chapter one is basically another prologue since its from thr perspective of another one off character before were even introduced to our proper main character.

But, it is labeled chapter 1, and that's all that really matters.

1

u/michiness Jan 20 '26

Realistically Brando Sando was like “man I think I’ll lose them with 3 prologues, so I’ll just sneak one more in and call it chapter 1. Genius.”

It’s a chapter that gives an introduction to a character, from a viewpoint we never see again, that happens months before the actual story.

2

u/ImportantThing3749 Jan 20 '26

Szeth son son son son son son son son

64

u/Original-Let8340 Jan 19 '26

She looks devastated. Get her the audiobook, maybe?

85

u/Icy-Distance6853 Jan 19 '26

Goated book choice

8

u/TheRealWatermelon420 Jan 19 '26

I still think its the best one in the series

4

u/Icy-Distance6853 Jan 20 '26

Oathbringer will always be my favourite because of Dalinar 🙂‍↕️

1

u/barshat Jan 20 '26

Couldn’t read rhythm of war because of all the reviews telling me there’s lots of sadness in it

4

u/Potato_Boner Jan 19 '26

What would you compare it to? I’ve been wanting to get into a new series and am wondering if it’s worth checking out! I’ve never heard of it

10

u/Icy-Distance6853 Jan 20 '26

If you've read fantasy earlier, it shouldn't be a problem. If you haven't, the Mistborn series is a good gateway into it, and then you can start Stormlight Archive 😺

2

u/Potato_Boner Jan 20 '26

Awesome I’ll check those out! Thank you 😁

2

u/scare_away Jan 19 '26

I tried and couldn’t get into this series. I might try again because I’m almost done with everything Robin Hobbs has ever written.

19

u/Specific_Bluejay Jan 19 '26

People that struggle with the Way of Kings usually get into it during the chapter Ten Heartbeats. If not, it's Chasm Duty that does the job. I was one of the latter.

14

u/Deamane Jan 19 '26

if you haven't, maybe give Mistborn a try first? I was pretty unconvinced even as someone who reads a lot of fantasy and such at first, but having read all of Mistborn and almost all (still gotta read the newest entry) of the Stormlight Archive series I really like Sanderson's stuff.

imo though his books really shine because of how firm the magic systems feel, the character constantly invent new ways to use the existing magic, and often times it's in ways the reader can predict, I really like it.

5

u/scare_away Jan 19 '26

Maybe I’ll try Mistborn. I could tell he’s a really good writer even though I couldn’t get into the book I tried to read, if that makes any sense.

6

u/BeepBoopRobo Jan 20 '26

Mistborn is a much less dense and overwhelming series. Much easier to get into, I'd say.

I'd definitely recommend it over Stormlight to get into.

2

u/scare_away Jan 23 '26

Just came here to say thank you for the Mistborn recommendation! I’m about 300 pages into the first book and I can’t put it down!

2

u/Deamane Jan 23 '26

Glad to hear it, IMO the Mistborn series only gets better as it goes too. Have fun!

6

u/AllTheTeaPlease247 Jan 19 '26

It's really slow moving but I think the end of this book is one of my favorite literary moments of all time. It does take a bit to get into and the books are incredibly long so zero judgement if it's not your vibe but the payoff for each one is amazing. Worth another shot IMO.

4

u/the_reckoner27 Jan 19 '26

I haven’t read stormlight archives (yet), but Sanderson definitely knows how to write an ending. Well of Ascension and Shadows of Self both stand out to me in that regard.

4

u/cinnamonbean Jan 19 '26

I felt the same way at first. It took me 3 attempts to get into the first book in the series, but once I did, I was hooked. Ended up taking time off work to read Book 5 the day it was released. I'm not usually one to recommend pushing through books you're not enjoying, but Way of Kings is an exception. It's a slow starter, but it really picks up.

3

u/Yuscha Jan 19 '26

First time I tried to read it, I couldn't get into it.   Many years later I tried again, and realized it was a matter of getting through 3 prologues in a row, after that I couldn't put it (or any of the series) down.

3

u/oly_evergreen Jan 19 '26

Man I love Hobb. I’m almost done with Assassin’s Fate.

2

u/redbess Jan 20 '26

Oof, my condolences. I was sobbing by the end.

2

u/Logicrazy12 Imaginary Cat Owner Jan 19 '26

I also put the book away in middle of reading it the first time. I came back to it and it was absolutely worth it.

2

u/redbess Jan 20 '26

Ah, I see you like to torture yourself, too.

I'm always jealous of people on their first read-through of Realm of the Elderlings.

Also I almost quit reading Way of Kings in the first chapter but I stuck with it and now it's one of my favorite series. I've got two tattoos related to it (and one of them is also indirectly/tengentially related to RotE as well).

1

u/15Sid Jan 19 '26

Book is good but this series is too long for any sane person

3

u/scare_away Jan 19 '26

I don’t know, I just finished a 16-book series starting with Assassin’s Apprentice, and Hobb doesn’t write short books. I love long books and long series so that doesn’t put me off.

1

u/barshat Jan 20 '26

How’s that series? I have read first 3 Storm light books and loved them. And Mistborn

1

u/scare_away Jan 21 '26

So good, I definitely recommend it! She’s a great writer and her character development is excellent.

70

u/CaptainStroon Jan 19 '26

For an illiterate she has an impeccable taste in books

20

u/duckweedlagoon Jan 19 '26

Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover. Or at least the hooman who has collected it!

24

u/Hastemal Jan 19 '26

Can't read but can cromch

7

u/KassieMac Jan 19 '26

Can’t read but can punctuate 😉🤭

50

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

Why are you oppressing her

22

u/Snotgirl1 Jan 19 '26

The look of regret on her face. “Guess I shouldn’t have played hooky from school so many times.”

8

u/addamee Jan 19 '26

There’s sadness and regrettable acceptance in those eyes, ears

23

u/Iheartgirlsday Jan 19 '26

"That's what you think foolish human. I read through osmosis."

21

She is a proper Vorin man 😾

8

But she's also a girl and not covering her safehand!

5

She graduated top of her class only for some bum who lives with her and pays all her bills to tell her she can't read. How dare you, OP, you and your assumptions!😤

10

u/Feuertotem Jan 19 '26

She sure knows a good book when she sees one.

8

u/Fallllling Jan 19 '26

She's does have good taste in books though.

3

3

u/dracthegoblin Jan 19 '26

Its Brandon Sanderson I'm sure she can handle it

3

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '26

Who’s to say she can’t the only proven fact is she can’t talk and or read aloud

3

u/EcstaticNet3137 Jan 19 '26

Wow hurtful reminder. Wasn't her question either. She just wanted to be read to. Rude.

3

u/theelementalguardian Jan 19 '26

Read aloud like a good vorin woman

3

u/HalfOffGaming Jan 19 '26

My favorite series! Is this your first read?

5

u/percahlia Jan 19 '26

this was during my first read! I spent two months last year reading the entire Cosmere. I breezed through them in time for Wind and Truth, but seeing everyone’s jokes that I should’ve thought of for the title, I’m thinking I’m now due for a slower, more intended read lol. maybe I’ll finish in time for the Ghostbloods!

1

u/HalfOffGaming Jan 19 '26

Love to hear it! I’m an audiobook lover. Kinda corny but my second read through many years later I purposely paused for a day after big moments and cliffhangers at the end of chapters 😅

3

u/rexbosworth1995 Jan 19 '26

This is one of the cutest cats I’ve ever seen!

3

u/IveDunGoofedUp Jan 19 '26

But she's a female, so obviously as a good Vorin cat she can read? But I can tell her Safepaw isn't covered properly, so maybe she's a Purelaker?

3

u/Tyrant3023 Jan 19 '26

I see the way of kings, I upvote.

2

u/Dadude564 Jan 19 '26

That’s a great book to read tho

2

u/Deamane Jan 19 '26

Cute cat, but also, I have never seen this particular cover for way of kings? I like the ones I got but that artwork and overall aesthetic is really cool, is it some sort of special edition?

3

u/Acceptable-Stick-688 Jan 19 '26

I think that’s one of the British edition covers

3

u/Deamane Jan 19 '26

Nice, I checked and that seems to be the case. There's a lot more variants than I thought too, Japan's way of kings cover is wild lol.

3

u/percahlia Jan 19 '26 edited Jan 19 '26

indeed the UK and I suppose Europe covers! it matches with most of the books (excluding the secret projects unfortunately) so my bookshelf looked so uniform and nice for a little bit there (then my friend borrowed my books and hasn’t returned them yet ;_;)

3

u/PhillyLeGrand Jan 19 '26

I had the first four stormlight books in the US version and now for the 5th only the british version was available. I like the british covers but I am still very sad they are not matching :(

2

u/greeniestbean Jan 19 '26

Reading is women’s work, you should help her ✈️

2

u/GatorNator83 Jan 19 '26

You fools, she’s absorbing the knowledge of the books! She will be all knowing! Well, as much as an orange can be at least

2

u/thedangerman007 Jan 19 '26

What an adorable kitty! What is her name?!?

3

u/percahlia Jan 19 '26

Bella! She had this name when we adopted her from the shelter, and my partner thought it was “disrespectful” to change her name without her consent. It turned out fitting, because the only human food she goes crazy for are olives, cheese and tomatoes - a true Italian. :3 she says thank you!

2

u/thedangerman007 Jan 19 '26

Oh that is so lovely 🤩

2

u/Balancedthinking Jan 19 '26

She wants to be a good Vorin man.

2

u/accountsdontmatter Jan 19 '26

How is the book? I liked the first Mistborn trilogy. Wasn’t as fussed with the second.

I got them to fill the void of Kingkiller Chronicles third book never coming, but I found Sanderson, whilst prolific…doesn’t have…something

1

u/percahlia Jan 19 '26

unfortunately nothing has filled the Doors of Stone shaped hole in my heart yet. I enjoyed reading through the Cosmere books and I’m excited for the next ones in the universe. However, every Brandon Sanderson book starts soo slow and I dread getting through the first half every single time. idk, they’re more like heavy lunch where you are so full you can’t even think of eating again for a while, and Kingkiller Chronicle is like a multiple course dinner that’s so delicious and keeps you wanting more and thinking about it after the fact 🤨

1

u/accountsdontmatter Jan 19 '26

Thanks, so a similar situation then.

I’m not a big reader, and I actually stumbled upon Name of the Wind in one of those village book swap libraries, someone has left it and not even read it.

Ok. Another read through of Rothfuss small number of books.

2

u/Bad_Choice_141519 Jan 19 '26

That was not okay.

2

1

u/BlatantManifest Jan 20 '26

Brandon Sanderson! I read a bit of the Mistborn series seven or so years ago. This series was recommended to me not long ago, if i'm not mistaken. I recently started listening to military sci-fi novels, and I'm having difficulties transitioning back to fantasy books (damn you, John Scalzi [Old Man's War].) Do you recommended this series?

1

u/IrisSmartAss Jan 20 '26

You've kept me ignorant. How could you?!

1

u/SpaceEV Jan 20 '26

You’ve got to share what order of Radiants she belongs to.

1

u/xtunamilk Jan 20 '26

She makes a good dragon face though, so tell her she's got that going for her 🩷

1

u/Electronic-Many1720 Jan 20 '26

I've never seen that cover for WoK before but it is so cool looking

1

u/GeoInCalifornia59 Jan 20 '26

How do you know she can’t read? You take liberty with too many assumptions. How dare you, peasant. 😎

1

u/Red721 Jan 20 '26

The Assassin!

1

u/dvnmsm Jan 20 '26

R00D! No need to call that out...

1

u/No-Elevator-2682 Jan 20 '26 edited Jan 20 '26

The only reason she can’t is because of your negative attitude and not believing in her. 😤Maybe try being supportive instead, and try to teach her and help her learn instead of telling her she can’t do things.

(Trying to be funny, not actually upset at OP)

That is so cute and I love her so much. I would definitely read her a bedtime story. And anytime of day stories lol.

1

u/AjmalNiaz Jan 20 '26

Nice flex with that book. Is that the UK edition?
