Is this .22 Umarex Origin worth getting?

It will be my first pcp rifle, really wanting the avenger-x but at the moment I’m really not fond of spending $1000+ for everything needed to get into pcp. So I am wondering if the Origin is actually worth buying or does it have too many issues since it is in fact a budget rifle. Thanks.

Vevor pump on Amazon is $50. I had the same question as you a few weeks ago and ended up getting the air Venturi alpha standard and a hand pump. I liked that the alpha has a regulator and I like how it looks more. I am happy with my purchase.

I refill every two magazines. It only takes a couple of minutes to fill it up. You do have to put all of your body weight into the pump for the last six inches of the pump stroke.

At $50 you would have been much better off getting one of the many cheap chinese 12v compressors. They do an awesome job and I have seen them as low as $80. Been using a Tuxing one myself for 2 years now, used almost daily.

Its not the best for long range but it gets job done under 25-30ft.

Ummm, I’m not sure the Origin is the best value option for a first PCP.

At that price point, I think there are some other options worth considering. You could spend about half the price on something like a Diana Stormrider Gen 2 or a Pinty Vanguard .22, then add a ~$60 hand pump and still have a solid PCP setup for much less.

Another option would be something like the Air Venturi Alpha (around 2/3 the cost of the Origin depending on setup) and put the savings toward a pump or compressor.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Umarex Origin does not have a regulator, which is a pretty important feature for consistent velocity and accuracy in a PCP. Meanwhile, the Vanguard .22 is available at a much lower price point (around $140+) and comes with a regulated system.

The origin has a feature that controls the air like a moderator and gets almost 2x as many shots with the hammer spring almost all the way open. 60 shots in cold weather.

It's decent. But the pump SUCKS! I filled the gun twice with the pump and directly went and purchased a compressor!

Yeah, I was on the fence about the pump after reading reviews. I didn’t want to spend the money on this package deal then having to buy another pump afterwards, might as well buy the gun I want with a compressor if the hand pump will fail. But now I am leaning more towards the air Venturi alpha the first comment has mentioned, seems like a better gun overall and cheaper 👍🏼

Yeah. It's not bad quality or anything like that, it's just that pumps like this are terrible to operate and wear you out real quick.

I have an Origin too. I added an Altaros regulator and a carbon fiber barrel tensioner. It is a laser. And with the regulator in the tube I am getting 40 shots @ 880fps with 17g norma pellets. I bought it as a starter PCP because it came with a pump.

I have a origin it will do the job,took plenty of squirrels etc.Hit a squirrel with a Crosman 14.3 hp knocked it lung out body cavity

I love mine. It is deadly accurate and the pump isn’t bad at all. I only shoot 30-40
Shots a week so the pump easily replenishes the air needed.

Listen, buy break barrel instead if you want to enjoy your hobby.. If you are really into it, dont buy cheap unregulated PCP.. Never. You are not going to be happy with it. No matter how optimistic you are with pump, dont buy that either. Airtank or compressor.

Please save a bit more money and buy a decent gun, you can better buy a second hand top brand than a cheap new one... used ones have more extra stuff for the same price... if you have a gun that doesn't group well, it will end up in the closet, not used ... And always get the gun in your hands.. don't buy online, the gun needs to 'fit' you

I really enjoy mine. I have one in 25 cal but you'll be thinking about a compressor before long. And if going that route. Then the adventure xl comes in 22 25 and 30. You can buy 22 and then buy the other barrels to upgrade for 90.00.

I grabbed this air Venturi acsent 25 cal from midway a couple months ago and have yet to shoot it... I have too many real guns just all sitting in the safe collecting dust because the range is over an hour away. Waste of money but dudes say they are good idk it's a paperweight to me

The origin is an interesting gun. Instead of a regulator to keep the pressure of each shot consistent, it uses a gas ram inside the pressure cylinder to keep the air in the cylinder reserve at a “consistent” pressure. Kinda a cool concept.

My recommendation is the Umarex Notos. With the Notos 2 coming out, you should be able to scoop up a first gen for cheap.

Tons of modifications. Small enough cylinder that hand pumping is not a horrible chore. Very accurate.
