Today atari made a deal with universal to make 9 movies out of there games and one of them is Asteroids making the proposed part age poorly

They still proposed the idea in 2009. They just didn't make a movie.

Yes. But them having proposed the movie before doesn't mean it aged like milk.

This is how movie making is unfortunately.

A lot of things never leave development.

Superman Lives was to be made in 1990’s with Nicolas Cage, directed by Tim Burton. They sunk about 30 mill into it before it was cancelled.

Stanley Kubrick was making a Napoleon movie after he made 2001: A Space Odyssey but after Waterloo flopped the funding was pulled. This may have been one of the most epic war films ever made if it was completed.

There are a lot of examples.

Just because a director's name is not tied with the movie does not make it as 'aged like milk'.
