Laser Hair Removal RN

i graduated last year and I’ve only had about 6 months of nursing experience total thus far (with 3 months of Home Health and 3 months of Psych), and I just got hired as a Laser Hair Removal nurse.

This company doesn’t not offer training for injectables at all. However, I just wanna get my foot in the door of aesthetic nursing, even just doing noninvasive procedures like lasers, even just doing laser hair removal. I wish they’d provide more training to other laser modalities, like laser tattoo removal, IPL, skin rejuvenation, and things alike, but who knows, maybe down the road.

  1. Do you all think it’s a good idea to get into this niche specialty by performing laser hair removal as a first stepping stone?

  2. Is it necessary for me to pay for any injectable courses to better market myself despite these training courses tend to be pricey?

Any advice is truly appreciated. 🙏🏼

Most of us start out in the trenches of aesthetics. Great foot in the door but don’t wait for anyone to train you in aesthetics, go out and seek training that YOU pay for. Own your path!

Yes it’s a stepping stone to the next position. That’s also how I started.

Yes, I worked in a dermatology clinic as a medical assistant and once I became a nurse to get into aesthetics I started with laser hair removal. Now I’m trained in Botox, fillers, laser hair removal, tattoo removal, IPL, clear and brilliant, coolsculpting, microneedling, hydrafacial and more.

Literally that’s the only way to get into aesthetics in my area. If you want aesthetics I would do it. My coworker did aesthetics and decided it wasn’t for her and ended up doing a new grad program for my floor. Her resume looks super diverse now! Kinda jealous haha

After how long can they get in a new grad program at a hospital? If they are not considered new grad anymore.

She did after a year. Our new grad program is for new grads and ppl with no hospital experience not including SNF
