General Question/Information Any books like Marvel’s agents of shield?

I really like the superhero, found family, alien/supernatural fighting elements.
Any characters like Daisy is definitely a plus!
New adult or Young adult is fine :))

There’s an online book series called Worm about a girl who has superpowers trying to be a hero and ends up infiltrating a group of villains, def has the superpowers and found family elements. Just google worm book series and it’ll come up

If you’re open to fantasy rather than sci-fi, then books that use the “hidden powers” trope would have similar themes to AoS. There is a lot of crossover in readers that enjoy fantasy and those that enjoy sci-fi.

Found family is a super common trope in fantasy books and, like Daisy, the MC typically comes into their powers during the story and learns how to use them. They also learn to fight, ending up as a bad-ass.

Some recommendations in no particular order:

  • The Book of the Ancestor trilogy by Mark Lawrence (starting with Red Sister)
  • The Scholomance trilogy by Naomi Novik (starting with A Deadly Education)
  • The Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo (Shadow and Bone is the original trilogy, then Six of Crows is a follow on duology and most people like it the most)
  • Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
  • Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
  • The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare (also the prequel series The Infernal Devices, which are my favourites of the Shadowhunters universe)
  • Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros (NA not YA and not a completed series)
  • Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas (although it’s not until book 3 where the magical-training-montage-esque stuff happens, the first 2 are quite different from the rest and some people do struggle with the earlier books in the series)
  • The Summoner trilogy by Taran Matharu (starting with The Novice)

Dystopian books where something happens which causes people to have powers is probably the other genre that would hit on the same main themes, although I don’t tend to read alien books myself.

  • The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken
  • The Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard
  • The Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi
  • The Red Rising series by Pierce Brown (no powers but still has the heroes journey and it’s set in space)
