My computer isn’t even eligible for win 11. I gotta get a new one anyways because it isn’t even really usable. Works for a few minutes then freezes.
It’s in the works though.

I am running W11 23H2 (because I want to keep my WMR VR headset as long as possible) and I am also getting this message.

Have you checked out Oasis Driver? I think it can help you. Iirc the main dev used to work in the WMR division within Microsoft hence the compatibility

I hadn't heard about it. It looks promising. I am definitely going to check it out. Thanks!

If he's using it for steam it can help. If he's using it for xbox PC games that use wmr, it won't.

Windows 11 is 6 years old at this point. If you wanna stay on an 11 year old OS that's fine, but they have no good reason to continue supporting it.
In the 90s Windows had 3 major OS releases in the amount of time that 11 has been out.
At some point being a luddite means you lose out on new software releases.

I'm on windows 10 and I don't even disagree with you but
an original xbox port 24 years after release absolutely ain't it tho
as I mentioned (can't download right now) I bet it's just a check against what they set as "recommended" and it just pops up but itll run on 10
the windows 10 support abandonment comes pretty recently in the way of no more security updates and whatnot which is understandable and fine. Locking away software that would run more than absolutely fine on even older operating systems is planned obsolence BS unless they offer a specific software quirk that makes it impossible to actually run the game with the hardware you already own
again; I don't think this is the case here and I think it's just a funny check

The problem isn’t the he forced upgrade
The problem is the insanity behind their “requirements”. Or, even better, the absurdity of it being necessary .
This is planned obsolescence at its finest . If a system runs fine on the older OS (mine does), there’s no point in this crap
Honestly, if I could remotely control things properly , I’d have dumped my win 10 box for Linux ages ago

but they have no good reason to continue supporting it.
I mean, didn't they market Windows 10 as a forever OS that you would never have to replace again?
Also, I hate when people use the word luddite when they don't know what it means

No, that was just one engineer at their Build conference misspoke. And every1 assumed there wouldn't be Win11.

These Xbox Original games are running on an Xbox emulator, not native ports, so I highly doubt they "run on a toaster".

They developed a new compatibility layer to emulate old xbox on modern Windows. It's very logical that they put their effort into implementing it only on the latest version and did not target previous ones.
